Nocheth followed Chrysoberyth's loop with determination to keep his wings pumping strongly. He had some stamina from his numerous trips out to the desert with his rider to escape the cold of their isolated Weyr. The huge brown kept at the front of the pack, battling strength with the unfamiliar bronze.
Z'zak's eyes blurred between flashes of dragons in flight and the chaos surrounding the weyr he stood in, dagger still held at the ready. Through the haze of lust, he could not decide whether these intruders were organized in their invasion or not. All he cared was that they took their bronze and left. Now that he was certain that they existed, he would undermine K'ain and get as many as he could out of there. He noted two riders leave and return with another. A moment's concentration on the new arrival determined it to be one of the youthful greenriders of his own training. What were they doing?!
-------------
K'kaar had reached down to help Tanly up, but she was already on her feet and grabbing at a greenrider, so he helped usher him in as well as fend off a few that had advanced at them, earning a knick on his chest, but very shallow. When Tanly shouted her mate's name, he took over with the greenrider. "Be careful, Tanly!" he told her as he shoved the greenrider toward the rider that had given the order, but keeping him out of the way until the flight ended.
--------------------------
While V'zee was busy fending off these rogue riders, he had not noticed his mate's fall, but a fellow wher had and hissed in warning. Ransk's down. Stranger there. Sanresk help Ransk's? the dark brown growled at his Bonded. Sanrev spared a glance at the red wher and her Handler. "Go," he told his wher, throwing a rider away from him with a solid kick to his stomach.
Sanresk slinked quickly over to the red wher, snapping at the rider that was trying to approach them. Sanresk help Ransk. Ransk help Ransk's. the nearly black wher told the red as he stretched to his full height with angrily whirling eyes pinning the rider in warning, sharp teeth bared along with a low guttural growl at the man.
---------------------------
M'cal smiled in reassurance at his sister. "When we get close to 'em, put yer sword away. Without a weapon, we ain't as offensive lookin'," he told her as they ran toward the entrance with most of the group. There seemed to be more Nova riders there than anywhere else, so there was a chance they could manage this quickly. He hoped. Lukath followed in his rider's wake, eyes whirling in anger and uncertainty. His was showing odd thoughts that he could not quite understand fully.

Tanly barely seemed to hear K'kaar's warning. Her eyes were glued to B'ren and the woman he was fighting. Everything else seemed to disappear as she held her breath. She feared to move and distract him more.
~~~
Randy didn't move as Ransk stood over her. The young handler was out cold and no help at all. Ransk looked over when Sanresk appeared. Help Ransk's the red agreed, growling at El'dan.
El'dan grew nervous as Sanresk appeared. His arm was already bleeding from Ransk and he had no idea how he was going to get them to understand him. "I want to help her," he said, motioning toward Randy without thinking.
~~~
Kikaya looked at her brother in confusion. "Put it away?" she whispered. She wasn't going to question it. It seemed like M'cal knew what he was doing and that's all that Kikaya needed to know. She knew her brother wouldn't put them in any danger.

El'dan's motion toward Randael earned a quick response from Sanresk, already on an angry high. Tensely coiled muscles drove the tall brown at the rider with mouth wide open for a snap at the man's stomach area, sharp teeth easily noticed. The dark wher did not care what the result would be, so long as his kin was safe from this enemy.
---------------------
M'cal nodded to his sister. "Yes, an' stay close!" he answered her as they approached the fray at the entrance. As soon as they got halfway close to the Nova riders, he was going to put his weapons away and hope that Kikaya followed suit.

El'dan realized his mistake a little too late as Sanresk charged at him. The blue rider wasn't able to move fast enough to avoid the large wher. The next thing the Healer knew was intense pain and lightheadedness as the brown wher's teeth sank into his side and stomach. He tumbled backward in surprise and pain, blood instantly showing on his shirt.
Tyverith bellowed in alarm when he sensed his rider's pain. He tried to get close to his rider, but there were too many people and whers in the way for him to get there. He continued to bellow and bugle in alarm.
~~~
Kikaya nodded. She wasn't about to leave her brother's side for anything. The girl gripped her sword tightly. She hoped this worked. Anything had to be better then being under K'ain's rule. He was cruel and merciless.
B'ren's eyes narrowed into slits when Q'del managed to grab a hold of the amazonian woman who'd managed to drop him, and his lips merely broadened into a smile. He'd heard Tanly's cry of fear as he went down, but had it not been for his fellow Bronze Rider he probably would have been in some serious trouble. B'ren nodded to Q'del. "That's a round I owe you, by the way." Reaching behind him, the Brown Rider took a firm grip on the resistant young boy now being dragged into the room, and practically shoved him at Raziela without saying a single word. The scoundrel then looked at Q'del, then he staggered when the first sounds of dragon keens reached his ears. Shards and shells. This can't be good. The keening meant one thing - someone wasn't hesitant in spilling blood.
B'ren looked at Q'del again. "I think we're in trouble."
~~~
C'olt was locked in combat with one of the opposing forces, as was C'pher with another of the rogue dragonriders when the keening distracted them both. A near-miss nearly cost the Healer his life, but C'olt was able to recover quickly to dispatch his foe. C'pher wasn't quite as fortunate, as his opponent took advantage of the distraction and tackled the Blue Rider to the ground, raising a knife to finish him off. A well-placed blow to the back of the head by C'olt's staff, and the rogue dragonrider went sailing through the air a few feet, unconscious. C'pher looked up at the Healer. "About time you got here."
C'olt merely shook his head as he helped his fellow Rider to his feet. "There are still more to take care of. And we've got to find out why dragons are going between."
~~~~~~~
K'ain watched as a man charged him, and as he assumed a battle stance he lost balance, stumbling forward with a cry of surprise. He hadn't expected to be attacked from behind, and as K'ain turned to look over his shoulder he saw a large black wher. So, the beast and its handler wanted to test his mettle? Narrowing his eyes, the aristocrat lashed out with a booted foot, trying to catch the wher squarely in its muzzle to give him a chance to get back on his feet before its handler could reach him. There was no way he'd go down without a fight.
K'kaar ducked his head as he felt his own dragon keen the loss of another as the young greenrider was shoved at the crazed woman. Things were getting worse! He would make it up to his lifemate. He always did. At the moment, his own self was at first priority. He was not going to cause the death of his lovely green.
----------------------
Z'zak flinched at the keening of a dragon lost Between, costing his large brown a moment's concentration on the chase high above them. Dark blue eyes strained to focus on his immediate surroundings to see if it was someone within the weyr he stood in, but none looked to be dead. Choose already, Chrysoberyth! he thought to himself, tired of this waiting game.
----------------------
Sanrev paused at the sudden aggression coming from his wher and his moment's distraction to look caused a weapon to get through and drive into his side, pushing him backwards. Instinct kept him on his feet as he shouted mentally at his wher. Don't kill him! Another hit to his ribs and he was forced to pay attention to himself instead of keeping his wher from killing a rider.
Sanresk tasted blood and was hungry, but the sudden force from his Bonded caused his jaws to unhinge, letting the man fall to the ground where he chose to try to step on his legs and snarled at his face, blood dripping from the stained tips of his sharp teeth as if daring the man to try another move, long tail whipping back and forth in agitation. No one dares hurt kin!
-----------------------
M'cal sheathed his weapon as he approached the edge of the fighting, motioning his sister to do the same and pulling her close to him. He could help protect her that way and also hopefully help show that they were not menaces like some of the others were.
Tanly cringed when she heard the keening start. She looked back toward B'ren, but thankfully the brown rider was back on his feet. Good, at least it wasn't him. Although she didn't really want to know who had died.
~~~
T'tarel flinched at the keening a received a shallow cut down his arm for the trouble. He frowned and quickly blocked another attack. He really didn't want to get injured and add his own bronze to the keening.
~~~
Kiyoni stared in fright as Arktos and Arkysk took off after the man coming toward them. For the moment there was nothing she could do to help him. She would just have to hope that they could protect each other was she defended herself.
~~~
Meera knocked another rider down that heading for M'lym. She wanted this to end. Why couldn't the others see that all they wanted was G'rett back? It wasn't that difficult to understand.
~~~
El'dan was trembling badly as Sanresk pulled back slightly. He flinched when the wher showed his sharp teeth. The Healer placed a shaky hand on his injured side as he moved his legs to avoid further injury. Although the wher still caught his left leg and left a gash in it from his claws.
Tyverith bugled angrily as El'dan started to give into the pain and darkness. The blue was determined to get to his rider and protect him.
Ransk was still protecting Randy. The young woman was moving a little, but she had hit her head hard enough that she still wasn't waking up.
~~~ Kikaya followed her brother's example. The girl was trembling slightly as M'cal pulled her close. She hoped no one else would get hurt and that these new riders wouldn't accidentally hurt them. She didn't want to see her brother get hurt.

Q'del winced as a dragon keened the death of one of their own, still holding the enraged woman with her hands behind her back. B'ren pushed the young male greenrider towards her and after bending over to retrieve her fallen knife with one hand, he let her free. "You'd do better to pay attention to the Flight than fighting us or you'll lose your dragon between," he said through gritted teeth, suddenly feeling that these riders hardly deserved even that mercy. He nodded to B'ren. "Maybe you should go see what's going on out there, I've got this, I think," he said, his eyes traveling over the room, panting heavily. It was getting to be uncomfortable being this close to the Flight, and Q'del wished the whole thing could be resolved.
Demnoth laid his head next to Toniel and crooned. Mine is still safe, he says the room he is in is secure, for the most part, but something is going on outside, someone has killed one of our riders, green Sorbeth is no more. he said sadly.
******
Chrysoberyth too was feeling fatigue set in, and she was fairly satisfied with the males' showing, it was time to make a choice. She would have considered her lifemate's opinion, but it was all confused, and the red didn't know what to make of it. So she turned to regard the males when suddenly the feeling of a dragon's death made her start upward, flapping her wings in alarm and wanting to keen, torn between grief and lust, though it had not been a dragon of her own weyr. All that came out was a gurgling croon, but the delay had cost her. Now when she turned, it was right into Nocheth.
Kanly gasped, the outcome not expected but not unwanted, all her attention now focused on Z'zak. She knew, somehow, that he did not want this and she wondered what he would do.
****
Arktos grinned a predator grin as K'ain fell under Arkysk's assault. The black wher dodged the savage kick to his muzzle, snapping to catch the offending foot, but his teeth met only air. By this time, Arktos had nearly reached them, and he swung his sword at the man's right arm, hoping to disable him quickly. There were questions he needed to answer, he was wanted alive. Arkysk backed away, knowing better than to get into the middle of the fight.

Sanresk made no further move after the downed rider, instead bespeaking his kin nearby while keeping El'dan within his striking range, eyes whirling in agitation. Ransk's okay? he asked the red wher, keeping his dark muzzle pointed at the rebel rider, ready for a snap at him should he try anything further. ----------------- The keen earned only a moment's attention from icy blue Lukath, hardly affecting his lifemate in the least. The blue was never a very affectionate dragon at all. Keeping to the edge of the fray, M'cal attempted to speak to one of the strange riders. "Are ya' from 'e true Weyr?" he asked loud enough to be heard at a short distance. That rider could very well spin around and catch him with a weapon. Z'zak had taught him that and K'ain had enforced it. ---------------------------- Nocheth had gone high and wide in an attempt to get the bronze to push harder for Chrysoberyth's affections, but when the lovely rusty-colored red turned straight into his large sandy form, he did what instinct was driving him to do and reached out for her, claws grasping at hers and neck already heading for a twine with hers if she would let him. His was not flying with him. He had every right to catch this glowing prize. -------------------- Z'zak's moment of focus on the room around him took in Raziela and one of his greenriders being forced together. The tall rider stood still while the other looked to be moving off and then Nocheth did what he swore he was going to keep the brown from doing this whole flight. Suddenly, his decisions were driven by his brown and he locked his dark gaze on Kanly, wishing that this had not been her maiden flight. He was going to fight his dragon's lust the best he could to try to keep some sanity during this and hope by the First Egg that he was not going to hurt Kanly. Reaching out to her like his dragon did to hers, he stepped forward, blade falling to the stony floor at his feet as his dragon's lust started to consume his concentration.

El'dan didn't eve respond to Sanresk still watching him. The blue rider's eyes glazed over as he passed out, earning an angry bugle from his blue who was still trapped away from his rider.
Ransk looked up at Sanresk as she stayed by Randy. Moving. Waking up, the red said, nuzzling her handler.
Randy groaned as she slowly forced her eyes open. "What?" she mumbled, feeling light headed.
~~~
Kikaya stayed close to M'cal. The girl watched all the riders. She winced when the keen rang through the halls, Ralith adding her own. This wasn't right. Rider shouldn't be fighting rider.
T'tarel spun around at the voice. He was on guard, but when he saw that neither young person had a weapon he lowered his arm. "I'm from Nova," the bronze rider answered.
~~~
Tanly moved over with B'ren. "Come on. There's not much else we can do in here," the green rider said, staying close to him. She didn't want to see him get hurt any worse. She was going to make sure he saw a Healer when they got back.
~~~
Kiyoni watched Arktos and Arksyk. Her heart was in her throat. The man they were battling looked mean and she didn't want to think about her mate getting hurt. She had to take her eyes off him a few times to keep from getting hurt herself.
Raziela's scream might have been called bloodcurdling by some, but whatever it was, it was not a pretty sound. A man was being shoved into her, and a young man, too. The feel of a hard body behind her and a barely adequate body in front of her only furthered her fury. Her writhing became exceedingly violent, but no amount of effort on her part would free her from the grip of the huge bronzerider. But suddenly she was free and her movements caused her to stumble forward several steps before she regained her balance, whirling on the man with lust-crazed eyes. His warning was not heeded, barely even heard, but the sound of dragons keening distracted her from any attack she might have futilely attempted.
Tanyrth was watching the red as she flew, trying to keep up with her. But between his rider's nearly insane struggle and his own lack of experience in flights, he was losing ground steadily. He saw her tiring, though, perhaps ready to consider her choices and so he surged forward for one last hurrah. It was not, however, to be. A startling sense of loss swelled within him and in the lustful state of his mind, he did not even contemplate it before a keen burst from his throat to join those of other dragons. It was not one he knew, but the loss of any dragon was to be mourned. And when Chrysoberyth turned, Nocheth was too close for there to remain any chance of any other catching her. Tanyrth bugled his loss shrilly, but anything was futile now. He had tried...
Toniel's fingers were unconsciously tapping brutal rhythms upon her upper arms as they crossed in front of her chest. Even though she had not fought alongside the other Second, she would bear her own bruises from the day, tiny dots from her fingertips beating into her own flesh. She nearly started as the bronze beside her crooned and her head whipped towards him to find his head directly next to her. She breathed a sigh of relief to hear that Q'del was still safe, but saddened to hear of their loss. Hopefully one of their riders had been taken as well. An eye for an eye.
K'ain regained his balance, springing forward and bringing his sword up to parry the incoming blow. But he raised his blade a half-second too late; as Arktos' sword sliced through his upper arm, it ripped apart sinews, bone, and muscle; causing K'ain to drop his blade and he screamed in pain. Dropping his long knife from his other hand, the self-styled Weyrleader clutched at the bloody stump, trying futilely to stop the bleeding. He narrowed his eyes at Arktos, the man's breathing becoming a bit labored. "You think you've defeated me," K'ain said through clenched teeth. "But a true Lord Holder never surrenders. I'd rather go between and die in agony rather than be mocked by the likes of you."
The moment K'ain lost his arm was when Joreth's eyes turned red and roared in agony. The majestic Brown knew his Rider had failed on two counts: Chrysoberyth had been caught by Nocheth instead of Coth, and K'ain was mortally wounded. When Joreth felt, rather than heard, the words from his bonded resonating through their shared link, the Brown knew he had to comply with K'ain's final wish. Swooping down from his perch into the central bowl, Joreth landed with a loud *THUD* and lowered his head and neck to allow his Rider to climb aboard. K'ain half-stumbled over, never taking his eyes off Arktos nor those under his leadership. He had failed them all, and there was only one act he could do to balance the equation. It took him a few minutes to finally steady himself, but as soon as K'ain was seated did Joreth finally stretch his wings and rose into the air.
Farewell.
With that, Joreth gave a death keen, and jumped between with his bonded.
---------------------------------------------------------------
B'ren took a step back when Raziela managed to free herself from Q'del's grip, watching as she whirled on the Weyrsecond. Tanly was tugging at him, pleading with him to leave, when the familiar sound of a dragon's death keen filled the Weyr. B'ren rushed over to the ledge to take a look. Arktos was locked in battle with K'ain, until the latter lost his balance and was unable to prevent Arktos' blade from finding its mark, severing the arm completely before the madman somehow found the strength to lift himself up onto the back of a Brown; presumably K'ain's, and the Brown gave a final mental broadcast before sounding its death knell and went between.
B'ren turned to look back at all present in the weyr. "K'ain is no more." He pointed at Z'zak and Kanly. "You two might want to consumate the Flight quickly." He then looked at Raziela and the young boy, merely shrugging and instantly regretting it. B'ren's face contorted with pain, and he groaned through clenched teeth as he made his way over to Tanly's side. "I'll need to get with Tess or C'olt after we get back to Nova," he said, his voice somewhat pained. "Though we'll have to either bury our dead here, take them back with us, or take their corpses between." The Brown Rider then looked at the young Green Rider and shook his head. "Your leader was a downright Bitran, you know that?"
Arktos felt a moment of shock as the other rider missed the parry and was very suddenly devoid of an arm. His arm went slack, sword crashing to the ground as the blood sprayed all over the ground. He staggered back as the brown landed, so like his own dead Bjornth that tears sprang to his eyes. Somehow, K'ain clambered aboard his dragon and they took off, winking out of sight. As the death keen rose in the throats of all the dragons, put his hand to his chest as if struck and collapsed. The great black where laid beside his master and waited for help.
