Nocheth crooned softly before stepping forward after his rider, then stopping again. He would much rather catch a glimpse of this bronze. It had been far too long since he had seen one. Mine, he is from Nova Weyr and fears for his rider. His rider is unable to think clearly. the brown passed on to His.
Z'zak stopped, slightly annoyed that he was delayed from giving Nocheth his routine scrubbing and himself a swim. Then again, it was Nocheth requesting his attention and not some task or other being. Did he have a bump to the head or did K'ain make El'dan drug him? the dark-haired rider inquired, blowing a loose piece of his bangs out of his face in annoyance. Not that the dragons would know the difference, but Nocheth was very good at translating things from a human's grammar to a dragon's. Nova Weyr. Now he needed to find out where the major Hold was and he would get them that much closer to the Weyr itself.
Nocheth turned back to the bronze. I am Nocheth and Mine is Z'zak. Does Yours head hurt all over or just in one place? he asked of the bronze, shifting himself about to sit carefully and talk with the new dragon. Only K'ain's Joreth or El'dan's Tyverith would get him to move now that he had something fun to do. Well, of course, his rider could make him move, but Z'zak would never pull his dragon away from speaking to another. He rarely did so in the first place.

For a brief moment, Antera thought he was mocking her. That he was toying with her like any other time her beloved Minth had Risen. Why would this be any different? The aging green rider knew her spot on the ladder all too well. Would one night really change anything? A part of her had dreamed of this for far too long, but the cautious side, the embittered old hag side was leery of letting Lord K'ain close. Reminded of her own glass, Antera showed just how unladylike her upbringing had made her. Downing the last in a hearty swallow, Antera set her goblet down with a soft thunk.
But when all the cards were on the table, Antera wasn't going to deny her lord. For one thing it was foolish and an almost certain death wish of sorts to deny him anything. Another was purely on her part. Who knew when Lord K'ain would look at her again in any special light? Both her heart and her head told her the best thing was to enjoy what she could. Slowly she stood and straightened her skirt. A simple nod told her answer as she took his hand.

Kanly looked at the healer dubiously. She wasn't sure she believed him about wanting the rider untied, but she knew better than to question her elders, so she just nodded. "I guess father is going to send all the male dragons away in a few hours. He said he doesn't want to chance Chrysoberyth choosing another." How Kanly wished that wasn't so.. She would much rather have her red flown by Noceth. Z'zak might be near to her fathers age.. But he had always been kind to her. However, Kanly knew her life was not her own, now or at any other time. "I hope we get the Queen egg father wants.. And a bronze.. Then perhaps father will let this man go home. He must have people that miss him."
Arktos cursed silently. So, they were going to force Coth to breed them a Queen. He wondered how, since they seemed to have only greens. But he supposed it didn't matter whether their plan would work or not, it had to be stopped.
Come back now he told his wher after detaching himself from the black's eyes and ears. Arkysk went between right from under the bed and appeared on the ledge, a feat only a wher could accomplish. Behind them, the bronze dragon stirred and Arktos walked behind him quietly to the great head. "We're going to get you and your rider out of here," he whispered. "Just hold on."
Then a moment later they were gone, appearing back in the Weybowl of Nova.
A few minutes later, Chandrath stood up on her ledge and bugled. Her voice rang in the mind of every dragon and wher, summoning them to the Council Room to make their battle plan.

Task's! Big goldie summon Task's! The brown alerted his handler loudly, still sleepy himself but well aware of the urgency that was transmitted. Taja grumbled something incomprehensible and blindly threw her pillow in Task's direction. Task ducked the pillow - she had good aim when it came to pillow throwing, but didn't give up. Task's! Task's up! Get up! Big goldie summon Task's! Task, shut up. Taja didn't always do so well with being woken up early. Task pulled himself to his feet and shook himself off, before going over and literally shoving Taja off her bed. She landed on the floor with a thud and more profanities. Big goldie call! Urgent! He pawed at her in an attempt to make her get up and she attempted to shove him off. All right all right! I'm up already! What's going on? she snapped at him, distinctly unamused. Big goldie summon Task's the wher repeated, not providing Taja with any information of use, other than that the Weyrwoman wanted to see her. What would the Weyrwoman want with her? She was a brownhandler and a tanner = nothing of much use there. Urgent. Been trouble. Think need help.
Taja pondered this as she splashed some water on her face in an attempt to wake up, pulled on a clean set of wherhide trousers and dark, near black blouse. She paused for a moment, then pulled a comb properly through her chestnut hair and tied it back neatly, in comparison to her normal haphazard mess that she called a runner's tail. At least she looked half presentable, if slightly grouchy. She could mask that up by the time she reached the Weyrwoman's Weyr though. Giving Task a quick pat, she strode out of her quarters, muttering darkly to herself about the cheek of urgent matters cropping up when she was asleep. They could at least have the courtesy of waiting till she was ready to wake up. This was ridiculously early by her nocturnal clock.
So of course, it was a bit of a surprise to walk out into bright light for once, and she had to stop and blink a few times to let her eyes adjust to the sudden barrage led against them. Day time too. What was the need? ... Maybe she'd been spending too much time in the lower caverns, she sounded like she was turning into an old hermit. Taja shrugged. she probably was. Have to get out a little more, but on her own terms next time. This was not appreciated.
Mia of course was interested by Chadranth's bugle, but not bothered by it. Not until Sorbeth said that she'd been summoned to a meeting. That made her uneasy. A meeting? What for? Is something wrong? she asked the green anxiously as she changed into a pretty dark green skirt embroidered in the same shade as Sorbeth's markings and white blouse. Her other clothes were mucky seeing as she'd been repairing Sorbeth's straps just beforehand. Chadranth didn't say. Nothing huge Mia, so stop getting worried. Yes, but what about all that talk that's going around? You listen to the gossip too much Sorbeth accused as she gave Hers a lift to the appropriate spot. Mia gave the luminous dragon a hug before scurrying off to the room, an anxious smile on her face. The smile didn't last long when she saw some of the expressions of everyone else in the room. This didn't look good. She was stood beside a slighty older woman who's knots indicated she was a wherhandler. Wherhandlers too? Just how bad was this?!
"Excuse me? Do you know what's going on?" she whispered to the handler. Taja snorted. "Not a clue. Task said it was urgent, that's all," she reported before stifling a yawn. Mia looked worried, and Taja cast her a glance out the corner of her eye. Oh please tell her this rider wasn't a worrier. It would be just her luck to be stood beside someone who was a worrier. She really was not in the mood. Taja never had been a morning person.

El'dan looked over at Kanly. He knew a little of K'ain's plan and felt awful for the girl. "I'm sorry, Kanly," he said softly. "I wish this could be different for you, but you know how your father is." He couldn't imagine what would happen if anyone went against K'ain. Especially on this one. He wouldn't put it past K'ain to do away with that person, dragon or not. He nodded. "He may or he may force him to stay. I don't know and I hope they're not worried too greatly about him." He hated to think of that.
~~~
Chandrath calls! Reloith told T'tarel.
T'tarel was instantly on his feet and running toward the council chamber. He nearly collided with G'fal in the process. "It sounds urgent," the younger man said.
"Perhaps they have found G'rett," the Weyrling Master said hopefully as they headed up to the council chamber.
You go now! Elliwodth said. There is news. Go! Go! the green urged her rider.
Kiyoni didn't think twice. She ran toward the council room. Maybe Arktos was back. And he had news of G'rett. She had been worried sick about her mate and she also hoped that G'rett was okay. He was her best friend and she didn't want Quindara to have to go on without him.
Tanly was out the door before Cadalayith even finished her thought. The green rider wasn't sure what was going on, but she knew she needed to be there. She had heard Chandrath's rumble herself afterall.
You must go, Vanlith told Meera. Something big is happening. All are called.
Meera left the new song she had been working on on the table and headed out. She could tell from Vanlith's voice that something major was happening. She hoped it was good news. They couldn't handle any more bad news.
Mine hurts all over, but it's mostly his head. He seems...distant somehow. Coth couldn't really explain how or why G'rett wasn't responding to his queries. All he knew was they were in a strange place, it was both cold and hot, and they had no way of getting back home. But wait, who was this next to him? The man and his wher seemed familiar...what was he saying? Someone was coming to rescue him and his?
-------------------------------------------
K'ain watched through half-lidded eyes as Antera tossed down the last of her wine, then set the now-empty goblet on the table. Rising to her feet and straightening her skirt, she nodded and took his hand. Good. She was wise not to deny his need, and although he knew she would never admit it openly, K'ain knew Antera would want him to satisfy her own wants and needs. The former heir felt his body temperature rise slightly, and he could feel his loins starting to stir. He would have his way with her, make her want him in every way possible, bring her to climax yet still leave her wanting more; much like a potent, addictive drug.
K'ain led Antera out of her own weyr and towards his own private chambers.
Chandrath's calls for a Council! Make haste, Mine!
B'ren was hot on Tanly's heels as the senior Queen's bugle could be heard all throughout the Weyr. This wasn't a good sign, calling for a Council. That usually meant something would be discussed that could potentially affect everyone, from the Weyrwoman on down to the lowest of drudges. He was soon next to Tanly, and took her by the hand and re-doubled his pace.
---------------------------------------------------
Chandrath and her Rider are summoning everyone to the Council Room! Go! Zeddicuth echoed the Gold dragon's bugle.
C'pher practically stumbled out of his weyr and had to catch himself before he was able to regain his balance. Shards! He nearly swore at his own near-mistake, then ran quickly to the council room, immediately behind several of the other Riders. To be summoned like this couldn't possibly be any good, could it?
---------------------------------------------
C'olt, Mine! Chandrath's calls! You must go to the Council Room! Aromath was normally peaceful, but this particular summons brought out her protective side. The Healer cursed under his breath. He had no idea where Tess nor Tesni were, but he knew full well someone from the Infirmary had to be present at the council that was being assembled. C'olt had heard rumors G'rett had gone missing, and although he rarely got along with the man, he truly wished him no harm. Perhaps now some light would be shed on the subject.
Rendel thanked the weyrling who had given him a lift. The weyrling offered to lead him to the council chamber, but the Master Harper told the young man that he could find it himself. He had been there before for routine meetings, and he never forgot the lay of a place once he had seen it. Too bad, he might have been good at betweening if he had a dragon. He hurried down the corridor, suspecting that something serious was going on when he heard the Queen bugle.
He stepped inside the council room and was surprised to see so many riders there.He inclined his head to the Weyrwoman. Normally, he would have thrown in a flirty smile, but now was not the time. "Greetings, Weyrwoman. I hope I can be of service," he said courteously.
M'lym entered just moments behind the Harper. He hoped that G'rett had been found, but had a feeling that things were about to take a surprising turn. This was the exact opposite of what the Weyr needed now. Of course it wasn't G'rett's fault, but if the bronzerider had never thrown that punch, they wouldn't be here.
Kia tried to control the sense of foreboding she had when Merequith told her to go to the council room. Why would all the riders be called for a meeting for the disappearance of one rider? This wasn't good. Kia was a fearless woman, but now she had another to protect. After she walked in she went right to C'olt's side. She didn't say anything, just let her worried expression tell him what she was thinking.
Toniel had not been able to relax since the meeting in the council room just a few short candlemarks ago. Everything within her was tense and this time it was not just her composed way of carrying herself. The situation was not a good one and she almost did not want to hear whatever news would be reported back. She sat at the table in her weyr, holding Leifa and stroking her absent-mindedly, completely lost in her own thoughts. Suddenly Aylinth's voice penetrated those worried litanies, Chandrath and Cybele call us. You are to go to the Council Room. The queen's voice was just as tense as the voice of her own thoughts. Something does not feel right, Aylinth confided in her. That was worrisome indeed.
Gently Toniel lifted the dozing Leifa and arranged her on her right shoulder. The young firelizard yawned and sleepily curled her tail around the woman's neck, securing her place also by snagging her claws into her clothing. Toniel carefully made her way to the council room, smoothing the concern from her face. She entered and dipped her head in greeting to the Weyrwoman, as she was in mid-greeting with someone else. The Masterharper. Oh this was getting more worrisome by the moment. She quietly took her place, one hand reaching up to stroke Leifa more for her own reassurance than the firelizard's.
Goldie call! Run run! Tesk didn’t offer any further explanation, but Tess didn’t need one. The Healer was on her feet and walking at an especially brisk trot back to the council room, Tesk skittering along at her heels. Tess frowned a little as she realized her wher hadn’t remained and glanced back a little to arch her eyebrow. Tesk didn’t wait for her handler to ask, her voice still cheerful and curious despite the Chandrath’s summons echoing in her head.
Come too! Goldie one say so. All whers. All big ones.. Hm, Tess thought back, and kept her pace steady. Reaching her intended destination, she blinked a little to see how crowded it was, despite her wher’s warning. Concern flickered in her eyes as she slid into the room and settled near the back wall.
---
Chandrath calls – go quickly. Council room. Tess comes, also. A’ren was immediately frowning – his dragon rarely spoke so succinctly and never in such serious tones. He didn’t question it, though – if the queen called, it must be important. Rounding the corner at a jog, he moved quietly into the council room and looked around until her caught his sister’s gaze. She smiled, but it was an empty sort of smile. He moved quickly to her side, casting a worried glance in the weyrwoman’s direction.
Nocheth craned his long neck around to touch his rider with a soft warble. He says His hurts all over, but mostly his head. He's distant. What does that mean, Mine? the brown inquired curiously.
It means that he's been drugged. I'll have to track K'ain down. Will you bespeak Joreth for me? It was something Z'zak rarely asked of his dragon. He knew the huge brown hated talking to the older one as they got along about as good as himself and K'ain did.
If I must, Mine. the sandy colored beast replied in discontent. If he disturbed Joreth for the wrong reason, he and his rider could be in trouble.
Ask him if K'ain's busy right now, please. I owe you for this, good friend. the dark-haired rider thought as he leaned against the warmth of his dragon and closed his eyes for easier conversation. It was a means of comfort and of letting his guard down slightly.
Joreth. Mine ask if Yours is busy. the brown asked with as much pleasantness as he could muster.
Sanrev woke to the noise of Neek squawking about and something tugging at his pant leg near his right foot. "What is it," he grumbled in upset. It was not time to wake up and he knew it. His internal clock since birth said so. He had not been asleep for very long.
Up! Big goldie calls to meet. Important! Sanresk responded in his Bonded's mind, tugging again at the dark pant leg of his handler's light pants.
"Stop. I'm up," Sanrev said as he rubbed his face with his hands. He had not even been here a sevenday and he was already getting called to meet with the Weyrwoman? What had he done wrong? The redhead waited until he no longer felt the gentle pull of his wher before sitting up and turning on his mat. He was not one for beds because Sanresk liked it best when he was able to sleep against him. "What time is it?" he asked in a much nicer tone as he reached to uncover a glow slightly.
Still light. Sanresk's go. Sanresk stay and listen. Hurry! the gaunt brown replied as he slinked about their quarters, trying to catch the bright blur of Neek to settle the creature down. Stop, Sanresk's little! Calm!
Neek finally settled slightly and followed his pet as Sanrev quickly got dressed, albeit halfway presentable, and headed out, giving his wher an affectionate pat on the head as he left. "I'll be back soon." The handler walked briskly, squinting against the daylight in annoyance until he had reached the gathering of riders and handlers. Just what was going on here?
El'dan watched G'rett closely. He feared that the man may still be semi incoherent if Kanly's red did rise soon. He had tried to take the man off fellis soon enough, but he couldn't chance G'rett coming to too quickly either or else K'ain would have known. He sighed. This just wasn't a good situation.
It will get better, Tyverith said. It has to.
I hope so, Ty.
Randy was curled up on the bed, trying to catch up on some sleep. She had left Ranvik with V'zee for a bit. She had been up part of the night with Ransk and hadn't been able to sleep in with Ranvik.
Mine, up, Ransk said gently. Randy groaned. Up! Up! Big goldie wants us!
That got Randy up. She sat up quickly and looked down at her red wher. "What for?"
Don't know. Go now!
The young woman got to her feet and ran out to get V'zee. She wanted to let him know what was going on and make sure Ranvik was still being good. Ransk hurried out behind her.
Finally it seemed that everyone had arrived. Cybele nodded to her seconds and to the Masterharper before gesturing for silence over the heads of the crowd. The Council room was full to bursting.
"As you all may know, G'rett was kidnapped early today by unknown dragonriders. The Candidate Master has been spying on them and has returned with news and we have formulated a plan of sorts. I'll let Arktos tell you."
The bear-like Candidate Master and wherhandler stood and nodded. "It seems that these riders wish to use Coth for breeding, in hopes to get a Queen Egg. There's a female dragon about to rise tonight and the leader plans to send all the male dragons and riders away to make sure Coth wins. There should only be a few greenriders on guard.. And most that I've seen are still practically children. So, that's when we'll strike, using greenriders and wherhandlers to try and prevent anyone from getting involved in the Flightlust. We'll take over the weyr and get G'rett and Coth safely away after the flight. Hopefully the other riders will not return but if they do we'll have to fight. Anyone who has combat experience should hitch a ride on a green that's going. Any questions?"
He was sure there were loose ends to tie up, but he trusted that others would inform him of them
Joreth raised his head when Nocheth's question came to him. The Brown had respect for the other, but apparently that same sentiment wasn't shared by their Riders. Still, Lord K'ain had asked to not be disturbed while he was having his way with his current woman; in this case, Antera. Mine is...preoccupied, Nocheth. With Minth's. He's specifically asked not to be disturbed unless Chrysoberyth is about to Rise.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
C'pher, C'olt, and B'ren all paled respectively when Cybele gave her announcement. "As you all may know, G'rett was kidnapped early today by unknown dragonriders. The Candidate Master has been spying on them and has returned with news and we have formulated a plan of sorts. I'll let Arktos tell you."
Arktos gave the grave news. "It seems that these riders wish to use Coth for breeding, in hopes to get a Queen Egg. There's a female dragon about to rise tonight and the leader plans to send all the male dragons and riders away to make sure Coth wins. There should only be a few greenriders on guard.. And most that I've seen are still practically children. So, that's when we'll strike, using greenriders and wherhandlers to try and prevent anyone from getting involved in the Flightlust. We'll take over the weyr and get G'rett and Coth safely away after the flight. Hopefully the other riders will not return but if they do we'll have to fight. Anyone who has combat experience should hitch a ride on a green that's going. Any questions?"
C'olt glanced over at Kia, knowing what her worried glance was about. He supposed she knew she was with child - his child - and was now wondering what he would do about it. That, and the fact Lyrensa likewise was carrying his child as well. The Healer already vowed he would do whatever he could to provide for both women and their children. It was, after all, the right thing to do. C'olt loved Kia and Lyrensa equally and with great fervor. He couldn't let either of his lovers down. But now that it was known G'rett had been taken hostage, and whomever these Riders were had plans for Coth...that didn't set well with the Healer. He leaned over to whisper in Kia's ear. "I can't ask you to come with us. I know you'll probably be worried if I go, but someone has to." He looked over his shoulder and spotted Tess, and gave her a respectful nod before looking back at Kia. "Tess and I will go, unless she says otherwise. Just don't worry. I'll be fine." C'olt gave Kia a gentle squeeze of her hand then brushed her cheek with his lips, then turned to look at Arktos before raising his hand. "I'll have to presume Wingleader G'rett was drugged by these unknown Riders. Do we have any of knowing what he was given, and how much? With the WeyrHealer's permission, I'd like to accompany her on this assignment to tend to the Wingleader."
-----------------------------------------------
B'ren looked over at Tanly, and the look he gave her suggested he, too, was worried about his weyrmate. They had spent enough time under the furs lately, enough time that it was likely she may have conceived. In most circumstances, B'ren couldn't care less if he had any children out there, but he did wonder a time or two. But now that he had someone in his life on a somewhat permanent basis, he felt genuine concern for Tanly and knew if she was with child, for her to go between could potentially put their unborn at risk. "I'll leave it up to you if you want to go," he said softly to her. "I can't take Chi with me, and he'll be upset over it. But now that we know what's going on, I just can't stand by and do nothing while one of our own is out there, and who knows what shape he's in." B'ren then heard ask a question regarding the possibility of G'rett being drugged, and he himself raised a hand. "Do we even know where these other Riders have came from? I thought we were the only Weyr in existence on the entire continent. Either way, count me in."
-------------------------------------------------------
C'pher caught sight of Mia, and oddly enough he found himself slowly shuffling over to her until standing next to her. Blushing, he gave her a compliment. "You look lovely today, Mia," he said softly. "I don't know if you're planning on going to help, but I'd love to come with you. I can't bring Zed, obviously, so I was wondering if I could hitch a ride with you and Sorbeth." While waiting for Mia to answer his question, C'pher waited for the others to get their questions in before raising his hand. "Count me in as well," he announced.
Kiyoni's face paled. That would explain why she hadn't seen G'rett around recently. The green rider looked over at her mate. She knew Arktos wouldn't like her going, but she couldn't sit around and do nothing. "Count me in," she said.
~~~~
Tanly looked over at B'ren. She nodded slightly. She knew they had spent a lot of time under the furs, but she hadn't really thought past that. And she couldn't just sit by and do nothing. Especially since she had a green and could get some of the other riders in. "I have to do," she whispered to him. "But you can ride Cad with me if you want."
~~~
Meera looked over at M'lym. She had no doubt that the bronze rider would go. She quietly moved over beside him. "Do you want to ride Van with me?" she offered quietly.
~~~
Randy and Ransk had come in toward the end of the conversation. "We'll help any way we can," she offered as Ransk sat down beside her. She wasn't sure if they would be a big help, but they had to try.
~~~
T'tarel sighed softly. He hadn't had a lot of formal training in fighting, but he could take care of himself if need be and this was a fellow rider that they were talking about. "I'll go," he said slowly. "But I can't take Reloith, so I'd need a lift."
~~~
G'fal listened quietly. "I think I better stay and make sure none of the weyrlings catch onto what's going on," the Weyrling Master said. Although if it turned out they needed his help he'd go in a second. He glanced over at Tess and gave the healer a smile. He hoped they would all be okay.

Tess arched an eyebrow a bit as C’olt volunteered for her, even just to Kia, but yes, of course she would go. She nodded quietly and moved to stand by Arktos. “I will go,” she confirmed, and began listing the medical supplies she’d bring with her (just in case).
A’ren stiffened, eyebrows dipping down in concern. He stepped after Tess, catching her easily by the shoulder. “You will not,” he murmured to her, tugging a little to encourage her to step back again. She shot him a patient, humoring look before glancing pointedly at her shoulder. He held steady for a moment, resisting, but finally dropped his hand. He turned instead to Cybele. His opinion would be different, perhaps, if his little sister weren’t involved.
“I am, of course, concerned for Coth and G’rett – but this is a risky course of action. How do we know it isn’t a trap? What if the male riders return? Is there no safer way? How many of our people will be endangered? Can we not, at least, send only those with some combat training?”
Tess frowned at her brother’s words, irritated that he questioned her ability to defend herself. Not an unjustified questioning, of course – she probably couldn’t, but that wasn’t the point. Numbers would matter; but more than that, it was her duty as Weyrhealer to insure the ongoing health of the weyrfolk. If she had to blink around the world and chase after some wayward bronzerider to do that, she would. End of story.
Catching G’fal’s smile, she tilted her head – an odd time to be smiling… - but she flashed a quick smile in return, nevertheless. Perhaps he was anxious and needed reassuring. She would check on him when this was done.
