"Well, to me you are light," he said chuckling. "But then, you also seem very small and delicate to me, and I'm sure you aren't...delicate that is." Arktos smiled down at her, wanting to remain this way for a long time and knowing that it wasn't possible. For one thing, he would soon have to go bully the Candidates into going to bed.
"She kicked you out?" he laughed, "Well, that doesn't sound very nice, but I'm glad she did." He kissed the top of her head. "You're always welcome here when you can't sleep."

Kiyoni rolled her eyes with a laugh. "I guess I am small compared to you," she smiled, liking the feel of his big hands on her back. She grinned. "You never know. I can be delicate at times," she teased. Shards, why did it have to be so late? She wanted to spend more time with him.
She nodded. "Elli's good at that," she smiled. "But at least I got to meet you that first night." She chuckled. "I'm telling her thank you though, cause she'll get a big head, but I may just take you up on coming back," she said softly.

"Almost everyone is small to me," he agreed. "But I know you sling firestone, so you can't be that dainty." He kissed her nose with a grin. "You had better. Arkysk will be lonely." The black wher let out a piteous croon to help his bondmate make his case, eliciting a smile from Arktos. "See?"

Kiyoni chuckled softly. He had a point there. You couldn't be a rider and not sling firestone. "Well, I can act dainty when I want to," she smiled, looking up at him. Kiyoni quickly looked toward Arkysk. "Oh, it's alright, Arkysk. I'll make sure to come back," she promised, looking forward to that. She wanted to spend as much time with Arktos as she could. And Arkysk made it a good excuse. "You know, I would've come back anyhow," she teased the candidate master.

"Your nefarious scheme to elicit help and protection from big, strong men like me, I take it?" he said, laughing. "I guess I have fallen into your clutches then."
Arkysk headbutted him in the knee and he scratched his head. "Well, I just figured Arkysk can make a much more pathetic face than I can, and I know how you girls can't resist cute animals."

"Shards, you figured me out," Kiyoni laughed, looking into his eyes. "You weren't supposed to figure it out so soon."
Kiyoni grinned down at the black weyr. "You know I'm a sucker for cute animals," she grinned, scratching Arkysk's head. "How could I say no to him?" She was enjoying the easy going bantering between each other.

"You can't pull one over one me," he said, grinning. "But I suppose I'll let it slide this time. I'm a sucker for pretty girls after all."
I am not cute. I am strong, and....scary. Yes I am. I protect Mine. Arkysk insisted huffily to both of them, arching his neck in an effort to accentuate his magnificence.
"You might be scary to intruders, but we know you better," Arktos said, rubbing the great black head with affection. The drum tower boomed loudly, sending a light vibration through the floor. "Oh, shards, it later than I thought. I must send the little troublemakers to bed," he said with a resigned expression. "But I will see you later?"

G'rett heard the boom of the drum tower and realized what time it was. Shards! Kiyoni was taking much longer than he'd expected, and he'd been crouched in the shadows for all this time. Growling a silent curse, he slowly rose to his feet and winced when one of his knees popped. There was no time to lose. He had to find somewhere else, fast, otherwise someone would spot him. In this case, Arktos. Otherwise G'rett would have a difficult time explaining why he was skulking like this, trying to hide from anyone's notice.
He managed a half-limp, half-run back to his weyr, and quickly opened the door and practically jumped inside. Closing the door just as quickly, he had to labor to slow his breathing and his heartbeat. Ditching his cloak, G'rett managed to make his way to his bed and he lay down on it, shaking his head.
Kiyoni had a lot of explaining to do before Elli's Flight....

Kiyoni laughed at Arkysk's words. "Of course you're scary," she smiled. "But I like you that way. You protect Arktos." She scratched the wher's head. Her face flushed slightly at Arktos' words. "You think I'm pretty?" she asked, but was interrupted by the drums.
The search rider jumped to her feet. "Shards! I'm sorry, Arktos. I didn't mean to stay so long. Yes, of course you'll see me tomorrow."
She gave him a quick kiss before dashing out of the office. She groaned when she realized G'rett wasn't around. She hadn't meant to keep him waiting that long either. Kiyoni headed for her weyr. Elli, tell G'rett that I'm sorry for taking so long.
Elliwodth yawned. Coth, Mine wants to tell Yours sorry for taking so long, she passed on, having no idea what her rider was really talking about.

Coth merely rose his head, then turned and blinked at his bonded who was still laying on his back, his hands cradling the back of his skull. G'rett, Elliwodth's apologizes for taking too long? What was that all about?[/color]
G'rett gave a long, resentful sigh. "Long story, Coth. It's a long story, and it's late. I really don't want to talk about it tonight. Remind me in a couple of days, will you?" Of course, the Wingleader was counting on the fact dragons rarely remembered anything, and he prayed this particular conversation would be quickly forgotten by his Bronze. It would be bad enough to even think about the likelihood of Elliwodth's upcoming Flight, and his gut instinct told him the aftermath wasn't going to be pretty.
If you say so.... Coth merely put his head back down and closed his eyes, then fell asleep.
