Physical description:
Tall and lithe, it’s rather hard to miss Namiti’s six foot frame in a crowd. Her proud nature shows in her no-nonsense walk as she moves quickly from task to task. Her once light brown hair has been lightened by turns of working in the harsh sun into a light golden blond. When one looks at Namiti’s face it’s not hard to see why she was mistaken as a boy for most of her life. A rather prominent nose dominates her features, drawing attention to clear blue eyes that dare the world to deny her. Her lithe frame helps disguise her true gender as well hiding the subtle curves. Namiti furthers this by wearing breeches and loose tunics, normally in dark colors to hide the wear and tear of being a rider for over two decades.
Personality:
Raised by her father, it’s no wonder Namiti is more masculine than her female peers. She’s over confident, bossy, proud and stubborn. And that’s just the side she shows the world. Namiti is constantly trying to prove that she’s worthy of her brown, pushing herself to the limit almost every day. Now behind closed doors, when it’s just her and her boys, Nami allows herself to relax. Here she shows the mothering nature that she denies exists. Her adopted sons Rinmeta and Lasari rarely have a bad thing to say about the woman who took them in, often defending her against snide and jealous comments. When the time comes for Namiti to flirt –namely when Myrroth decides it’s time to Chase- the blond rider shows no mercy. She can tease and flirt with the best of them.
History:
Born the youngest of two daughters to a blue rider and a visiting Harper, Namiti had an odd childhood. While she wasn’t neglected, abused, or raised in turmoil, she was raised by her father. Her parents were as different as oil and water and mixed just as nicely. So after a particularly bad fight, Lenami ran off to the Hall back home, carting her eldest daughter with her. Namiti was heartbroken that her mother left her behind, but as all three turns old are ought to do, she promptly forgot her mother wasn’t there anymore. Instead the bouncing child turned towards her father, Z’ir of the blue Thantoth for guidance, nurturing and care. The pair soon figured out that Z’ir wasn’t very good at raising a girl-child, so in doing the best that he could, Namiti soon became a tomboy in the extreme.
By the time she was five, Namiti began referring to herself as a boy. Not that she was confused about it, nope. She just knew it was easier for folks to think her a boy-child. So the tousle headed child of Z’ir began her adventures in the Weyr she called home. There were the normal scrapes and bruises, fights and toughened tears as Namiti grew up, but nothing truly stood out for most of her child hood. Once she entered her teen turns things began to change. As life is known to do, Namiti soon remembered why she was a girl. A girl who it seemed was interested in everyone. Now this normally wouldn’t be a problem, but remember Namiti spent turns convincing everyone she was a boy. How would her peers deem her if she admitted to liking boys and girls? Namiti wasn’t sure, so she kept this secret under wraps, hiding it from everyone save her father.
When she was old enough Z’ir pressed his daughter into Standing for any clutch that lay on the sands. Surely the daughter of a blue rider would Impress one day right? But from the day she turned 16 to the day before her twentieth turn, nothing happened. Not a single green. Not a handsome blue. Nothing. Namiti was beginning to wonder if her beloved father was wrong. But as dawn came on her twentieth name day, a clutch decided to hatch. Again the greens and blues passed this strong woman preferring other candidates over her. Heart broken, Namiti was about to leave the Sands for good. She figured that today was her last time that the taunts were right. Namiti wasn’t good enough for a dragon.
A handsome brown picked that moment to crack his egg clean in two. Now it wouldn’t do for my Namiti to leave before her Myrroth can get to her, Came a strong voice from behind the tall tomboy. Sand flew everywhere as Namiti met the eyes of her brown life-mate. That day proved to be one of the best naming days Namiti would ever have. Now it took some time for most to adjust to this pairing. Some didn’t believe that Namiti wasn’t in fact N’iti, and wasn’t playing a huge trick on everyone. Some thought she was an abomination that needed to be taken care of. Others, more rational minds just sat back and wondered how this was going to turn out.
In the end, the pair excelled at everything they put their minds to. They breezed through weyrling training, passing the physical tests with flying colors. The turns numbered on as they entered the Wings, never quite making it past wing third despite Namiti’s ambitious dreams of becoming a Wing-leader or even Weyr-leader one day. The only stall in Namiti’s planning was the precious turns she was mated to Sarina of Lynath. This mating started off as a bond between Nami’s brown and Rina’s green, but slowly grew to involve the girl’s hearts. For several turns Nami stayed by the younger girl’s side, even when her Lynath was won by other males. Namiti even was at her bedside when Sarina gave birth to her sons: Rinmeta and Lasari. The small odd family enjoyed their time together until the tragedy that ripped the young mother from them. Sarina, loving kind Sarina was taken away by a still-born baby girl. Not knowing what else to do with Sarina’s boys –since the fathers didn’t wish to have anything to do with them- Namiti adopted them. Such a small gesture on her part that changed their world.
If it hadn’t been for Z’ir, Namiti would have gone insane. The trial of raising two small boys from the ages of eight and five respectively wasn’t easy for a rider like Namiti. With the experience of her father to aide her, Namiti, Lasari and Rinmeta became as tightly knit as any blood-related family could hope for. Turns faded into turns, and her once young boys are now teenagers ready to Stand for their own dragons. Or so Namiti hoped they would. Rinmeta is too interested in Smithing to think of anything else, and his brother Lasari is too flighty to think of anything at all! So what’s a mother to do?

If dragon-rider:
Dragon name: Brown Myrroth (#3E2715)
Dragon age: 23 turns
Dragon size: 33 feet
Physical description:
A deep rich brown covers most of Myrroth’s muscled body, save for a creamy half mask and a pair of short glove like stockings on his forelegs. Being of average size, it isn’t hard to see the fact that Myrroth works hard to keep his body in shape. One odd tidbit about this muscular brown is his slightly larger wing span. Now it’s not a huge difference, but it’s enough for the chocolate-colored brown to look a bit awkward on the ground.
Personality:
While Namiti is a very in the open person about her ambitions, Myrroth prefers to do things behind the scenes. He’ll take credit when it’s due, but he’s not the kind to steal someone else’s glory if he feels they deserve it. Now on the other hand if the believes someone is acting out of line, Myrroth is very likely to put said being back in their proper place, whether that being be a dragon, child, Weyr-Leader or his own rider. That said Myrroth has a very strong point of view on what’s wrong and right. This inner compass helps keep Namiti from charging head long into something fool-hearty. But don’t let his gruff nature fool you. When he’s around Nami’s adopted sons, a small child or a candidate he’s got a soft heart. He’d stick his neck out for a youngling’s safety, and places their needs above his own.
Pets:
Name: Renna
Species: Grey Fire lizard (#D6D6D6)
Age: 10 turns
Description:
A light solid grey that can fit in Namiti’s spread hands; Renna was a “gift” from Lasari for a naming day. The clever flit knows she’s the apple of Myrroth’s eye, and spends most of her time around the larger brown. She is known for getting into mischief if the mood strikes her. Which of course is often, even at her age. Now her exploits have earned her several nicknames: Trouble, Menace, and the like, but her favorite is Trundlebug from when Lasari was a much younger child.
