Ravis couldn't stop thinking about what he had learned about black dragons during his candidate lessons. He sat quietly in the Dining Cavern nursing a mug of klah. He'd like to learn a lot more and he knew there was one black dragon at the Weyr. Although he was still young, but that didn't bother him. And surprisingly, the boy had actually learned the rider's name.
Ravis glanced up as a few people entered the Cavern. He grinned when he saw V'lain. He wasn't normally extremely out going, but his curiosity over the black dragon was getting the better of him. He got up to meet V'lain. "V'lain?" he asked politely.

V'lain was sitting alone, since none of the other weyrlings seemed to be around at the moment. He had just come from oiling Osiroth, and now the Black was dozing peacefully in the barracks. V'lain had taken the opportunity to grab a quick bite to eat before the next lesson.
When a candidate approached him, he smiled proudly, straightening his shoulders. "Why, yes, I am." He pulled out a chair for the boy. "Have a seat?" He wondered if the candidate had come to ask him about advice for the Hatching. V'lain liked the idea of being looked up to.

Ravis smiled a bit. At least it didn't seem like V'lain was upset that he had disturbed his meal. That had been his biggest fear. He didn't want to offend the weyrling. Especially since he had so many questions.
The candidate took the offered seat. "Thank you," he smiled. "I'm Ravis," he introduced himself as Trig appeared and curled up on his shoulder. The little brown watched V'lain with curious eyes. "Would you mind if I asked you a couple questions?" he asked.

ooc: so, i'm gonna try carrying on with this post to get myself used to V'lain
The black rider looked at Ravis with curiosity and pride, someone was looking up to him...asking him for further information! "Of course you can, Ravis" He said, looking around quickly to see if anyone else noticed. "Take a seat, no one else is with me at the moment."

OOC:Good idea, Taenia ;D
Trig sat quietly on Ravis' shoulder as the boy took the offered seat. "Thank you," he said, looking up at V'lain. So far it appeared that he hadn't offended the weyrling and that was good. He had so many questions and he hoped V'lain wouldn't mind. "I have a couple questions if you don't mind," he said unsure of the other teen's reaction. Although he was sure V'lain wouldn't mind talking about his dragon. All riders seemed to like that topic.

Curiosity filled V'lain as he started to think about what type of questions Ravis would ask him. "Go right ahead." He said, giving the boy his full attention. He wasn't going to be rude and not give the boy the information he wanted. V'lain was a black rider, pern's only black rider... and he'd be a good rider at that.

A smile actually crossed Ravis' face. At least V'lain hadn't told him to get lost. He knew there were other riders he could talk to, but he was intrigued by the black dragon. And V'lain would be the only one who could tell him about a black. "I was curious about your dragon," he said, looking up at V'lain. "I'm fascinated by the idea of a black dragon and want to learn as much as I can about them. Would you mind telling me a bit about him?"

V'lain's smile widened when he realised that the boy wanted to talk about Osirith, V'lain could talk forever about that dragon and never tire. "Well, what would you like to know about him?" in V'lain's eyes, Osirith was the best dragon that there ever was..
...and he knew, by their bond that the dragon was fasinated by that comment, but, as always...chose not to speak. Osirith's quietness had made it a bit easier for him to adjust to the mental bond of a dragon and rider..

Ravis relaxed once he realized that V'lain didn't mind this subject at all. He had been a bit worried for a while. He thought for a minute. "Umm, well, we learned about their general size, but what's he really like? What type of personality does Osirith have?" he asked curiously. The boy had made sure that he had learned the black's name. He knew some of the other names now too, but not too many of them. He waited for V'lain to answer, trying to think of what else he could ask.

The silly smile still plastered V'lain's face as he thought of his black life mate. "Osirith is....quiet" He said, thinking of the dragon for a while and how best to descripe the young black. "He's hard to describe, but he'll be the best!" V'lain exclaimed. "He's very watchful.. and i sware that he has a good memory and intelligence level...certainly not a 'thick' dragon!" He said.

Ravis listened intently. He wanted to learn everything he could. "Quiet?" he asked. Well, he could definitely deal with that. He wasn't up for lots of commotion anyhow. The boy smiled. "I bet he will be smart," he said. He liked the black and he hadn't even really met him. But it sounded like V'lain was very devoted to his lifemate and Ravis wondered if he would ever be that happy.

"Yes, Quiet.." V'lain repeated not really looking at the young candidate that much, the black weyrling rider was lost in his thoughts of Osirith, the sleeping black dragon back in the barracks. "He doesn't talk much... but he doesn't need to, you always know what he wants.. he...just... has this way about him, you know?" He continued, talking alot more than he had planned to, but he couldn't help it.. couldn't help the feeling of undeniable happiness that filled him with every thought of his new lifemate.. how he couldn't wait for hte black to be awake again..

Ravis listened with intrigue. He didn't know what a bond with a dragon was like, but he hoped that he would someday. If a dragon thought he was worthy enough. "That sounds great, V'lain," he said in awe. How he could love to have that relationship. "I can't imagine what it must be like to just know what the other one is thinking."

"it takes some getting used to" V'lain admitted, coming back into the present coversation and listening to the young candidate's questions. "I mean.. it's a little strange having someone inside your thoughts constantly.. always knowing what your thinking.. " He explained. "But it's worth it. Osirith is my best friend!"

"That would be a bit strange. Although Trig seems to do that sometimes. I'm sure having a flit is nothing like a dragon though," he said as he scratched Trig's head. The little brown cheeped softly. Ravis thought for a minute. It would be strange to have someone inside your head all the time. Although always having a best friend would be nice. "Friends are always good to have though," he smiled. He was glad that V'lain didn't mind talking to him.
