B'ren took his time towards the kitchen were the Headwoman normally was. He kept looking at his new weyrmate, smiling like a feline, his fingers laced through hers. B'ren was certain that news would spread like wildfire, that he was (mostly) abandoning his ways and settling down with a woman. Though why anyone would wonder why he chose Tanly, for him it was an easy decision. She was Lady Luck incarnate to the scoundrel, and he'd be betweened to let her go.
Together the pair had decided on hosting a feast to celebrate their union, and decided to pay the Headwoman a visit to ask her on how to go about such a large undertaking. Although it probably would be best to hold the feast after the Weyrlings and Candidates were asleep. There would be no point in having anything go wrong like it did at the Hatching Feast...

Tanly walked happily beside B'ren. So far being weyrmates had worked out just fine and Tanly was glad of it. She couldn't believe how strong her feelings really were for the brown rider. Although she still wondered how long it would take for it to spread around the Weyr. Not long was what she was guessing. She gave his hand a light squeeze as she looked up at him.
The green rider hoped the headwoman wouldn't mind having a little celebration. Tanly wanted everyone to be as happy as she felt. And she also figured the Weyr could use a pick me up. It had been a bit crazy lately.

B'ren led the way towards the Headwoman's quarters, and he politely knocked on the entryway before ducking his head inside. He was a bit nervous, and rightly so. He wasn't sure how the Headwoman would react to his presence, and B'ren idly hoped by having Tanly with him it wouldn't be quite as bad. Still, what he and his new weyrmate was about to ask was quite the tall order. A private gathering was no simple task to prepare for. The scoundrel peered around, wondering where the Headwoman would be. "Hello....?" he let his voice resonate slightly. ((Anyone is welcome to play the role of the Headwoman as of this point ))

Tanly was excited, but worried about the gathering they wanted to have. She stayed close to B'ren as he stepped into the headwoman's quarters. "Do you think she'll mind helping us?" she asked, looking around. She had never really tried to plan a gathering before, so she wasn't sure how the Headwoman would respond. Tanly just hoped she would help, because she really wanted everyone to be happy and enjoy themselves.

Alda was bustling around, tidying her immaculate quarters and giving them a quick once over with the duster. No mess was allowed in her rooms, just as it was not allowed in the rest of the Weyr! No sir! This knick-knack got rearranged here, that once shifted to over there. The room was slight off balance by those things being over there and so they had to be moved to make it look that little bit neater and more balanced.
She was distracted of course, by a knocking. "I'll be right there!" she called as she finished moving around some of the stuff on her desk, gave the corners of the room a quick tickle with her duster and then strode out purposefully, duster in hand. "B'ren!" she exclaimed when she saw the source of the knocking, surprised to see him and instantly a little suspicious. "What are you doing here you scoundrel?" There were a number of reasons he could be here, but of course she mustn't jump to conclusions. That was not befitting and she had to give the bronzerider a chance.
Then of course, she caught sight of Tanly on his arm and her eyes narrowed as she looked suspiciously at B'ren, before her face brightened up in a warm and welcoming smile. "Tanly my dear, it's good to see you! Come in, come in, both of you, don't just stand in the doorway like a pair of dimglows In, in! Take a seat!" she exclaimed, ushering the pair in. She'd never met Tanly huge amount,s but she never forgot a face or a name. Alda made sure to commit to memory the face of every dragon rider, and their names, as well as the names of their dragon. Sometimes it would take her a moment to remember who someone was, but she always got it. "Tell me, how is Cadalayith? And Chiath of course?" she asked conversationally as she settled herself down behind her desk and straightened her apron. Then with a sharp look at B'ren, she decided to get straight down to the matter at heart. "I'm sure you two have a reason for being here. So, spill it out. I dare say you've not just popped in for a chat and a cup of klah young brownrider."
((Ooops, DS' mistake with Tanly's dragon! I'm easily confused. My apologies!))

Tanly hid a chuckle at Alda's response to B'ren. His reputation definitely proceeded him. She had no doubt that it would be a real challenge to get him to break it, but she wasn't pushing for that yet. They would take things slowly.
"Good day, Alda. I hope we're not disturbing you," she said, walking in beside B'ren. She grinned up at the brown rider as the Headwoman seemed to change her attitude quickly. "Cadalayith is doing fine. I do believe she's sound asleep at the moment," she said answered cheerily. The young rider looked up at B'ren as they sat down. "Do you want to ask her?" she asked.

B'ren shook his head woefully when Alda came to the doorway, shooting him a suspicious look and called him a scoundrel. She had always acted like a mother wherry around him during his time as a Candidate, causing this bit of trouble or that. It was no different to this day. B'ren escorted Tanly in, sitting down with her when Alda peppered him with her usual round of questions. Scoundrel or not, he still had to chuckle. "Chi's fine, Alda. He still does his best to keep me out of trouble, as cranky as he is. But yes, Tanly and I have a reason to be here." His weyrmate looked over at him, wanting to know if he should be the one to ask the question, and he nodded. "Alda, there's no point in bringing up my, uh, checkered history nor my streak." B'ren knew full well Alda would catch the gist of both terms, and he had to wince. He cleared his throat before continuing. "Tanly and I were wondering if we could get your help in hosting a little get-together for Riders only in our private quarters. We were a bit concerned at hosting it in the dining caverns, especially with that fight breaking out between Q'del and G'rett." Knowing full well Alda would wonder what he was up to, B'ren simply reached over to take Tanly's left hand into his and held it up for the Headwoman to see what what was on the Green Rider's third finger.

Alda offered Tanly a large smile. "Of course you're not disturbing me dear," she reassured. She was only tidying after all and she could just catch up with that later. She always did try to make herself available to be contacted by anyone should they feel the need. "Good good," she nodded when she was informed of Cadalayith's health. Ask me what? she wondered though behind the smiles as the pair sat down. Well, she was sure that B'ren would soon answer that.
"It's good to hear that someone is at last," she replied sternly, but with a light glint in her eye. Chiath was good for B'ren that was for certain. Then again, every dragon was good for their rider. Always brought out the best did those creatures. She raised an eyebrow as the explanation began, flinty grey-blue eyes meeting B'ren's own. Well that was putting it mildly was't it. Just where was this going?
A get together?! Well that was unexpected. What on all of Pern would it be in aid of? The question was forming on her tongue when B'ren explained it with a mere gesture. The moment she caught sight of that ring she nearly swallowed her tongue in surprise. Being polite and well mannered she didn't gape of course, but she was near to it. At a total loss for words she merely stared at the glittering band for a short while, completely blown away. Then she looked at Tanly, her face blank as she tried to make up her mind. Letting out a disbelieving sigh, she began to speak. "Tanly, you truly are a remarkable woman. In all my Turns as headwoman, and all my turns before that, quite a few I know, I have never met one girl who I thought would ever get this young rogue to settle down with them. Truly remarkable." she offered the rider a warm smile, looking at B'ren out of the corner of her eye. She may just corner him for a word later. But of course, to matters in hand! "You've come to the right person! In the private rooms is a very good idea, certainly considering what happened last time and definitely if this is to be riders only. In the Dining hall you'll always get some who just don't listen and I'm sure the last thing you want is gatecrashers. I can see why you want to celebrate something like this as well, not everyday B'ren finally commits to someone." She gave the brownrider a quick glance. "Now, what kind of things would you be after and just when would you want to host this get together of yours?"

Tanly felt better after Alda said they weren't bothering her. She felt bad for the Headwoman as it appeared that she was very confused. And she was sure B'ren wasn't helping much there. The green rider blushed and smiled as he held up her left hand. She was still getting used to the feel of the ring on her finger, but she liked the feel.
"Thank you kindly," she said softly, smiling at B'ren. "He's not such a bad guy once you get him to settle down," she teased, playfully elbowing B'ren. She had gotten extremely comfortable with the brown rider over their short time together.
"No, we definitely don't want any gatecrashers. And we don't want anyone getting into trouble like the Hatching Feast." she didn't mind the riders getting drunk or anything, but she didn't want any fights or to mix the weyrlings up in it. She looked over at B'ren. "I guess we like to have it as soon as we can get everything together. As for what we need, I'm not sure."

B’ren chuckled when Tanly gently elbowed him and Alda gave him a good-natured ribbing. The Headwoman was right, though; it wasn’t everyday that the Brownrider was willing to settle down some. Some. Still, a bet was a bet, and he wasn’t about to lose this one. No, he’d be betweened before he would even dare think he would want to pass up on this opportunity. But to catch Alda by surprise like this? Classic B’ren.
He leaned forward when it was his turn to answer the questions. “We were thinking of hosting the get-together in our weyr or in one of the private chambers just off from the main Dining Cavern,” he explained. “As for what we’d need…other than the best reserve vintage Ryuu Hold has to offer, some smallish food stuffs. Finger food. And only the very best will do.” He caught Alda’s eye. “If you’re in need of getting some additional supplies, I can get word to the Traders’ community to have them start asking around on how much the premium stuff will cost. Knowing some of the Holders, they wouldn’t want to be outsold by the competition, which should bring our price down substantially.” That was true; while no Holder in his right mind would want to be undersold by any of the others, B’ren came from a group of Traders whose negotiation skills were legendary. It was easy to haggle and talk Holders and their merchants down in price until both sides agreed to the bargain, and while the Traders would keep the profits; when it came to helping one of their own those savings were often passed along to that individual. The entire Traders’ community knew B’ren had been Searched and taken to Nova Weyr, which was why the Weyr’s costs were kept low. It was more a symbolic gesture of goodwill, really, but the Traders all knew if they ever needed to find shelter from Threadfall they could always hole up at Nova until the threat passed.
“Tanly’s right, though. We don’t need a repeat of what happened at the Hatching Feast, so this will be open only to the Riders, along with you and your staff, Alda.”

Alda looked indignant when B'ren said that only the very best would do. What was he expecting, second best out of her kitchens and Weyr? No, a get together always required the top notch of food and standards, and top notch happened to be Alda's specialty. She grinned knowingly at B'ren when he offered to get word to the traders. Yes, he may be a trader by nature and able to get good prices for everything, but she was Headwoman! She knew how to haggle, and how to keep prices down. "That won;t be necessary B'ren, though I appreciate the offer. I'm more than capable of negotiations. And I'm surprised you should think that you'll get anything less than the best for such a get together. As it happens we have a fair few good vintages in storage, but of course I shall order in some more. One of the riders can go and pick them up I'm sure, or perhaps the Weyrlings if they're ready to be doing courier work yet."
"You two needn't worry, I shall personally see to it that there will be no such ruckus as there was at the Hatching Feast. That was a disgrace I must say. Now, I shall have a word with my sister and see what she thinks for the finger foods and such, though I already have a few good ideas myself. The stores will need to be checked and any new shipments brought in but that can be done swiftly enough." It wasn't as if the stores weren't kept with meticulous records. It would be an incredibly simple matter to see what was needed. "I can assure you that this will all be ready within a sevenday at absolute tops. Now I'll let you decide where it is that you want it whether it is in your Weyr or one of the private chambers, but make sure to let me know when you do and I'll have it cleaned especially for you." It was odd, to be saying 'your weyr' to B'ren and referring to plural, but still, it was one of life's many surprises. Standing up once again Alda was essentially a woman on a mission. "Now if you two will excuse me I have a sister to be talking to and supplies to be organizing. A special occasion such as this deserves special attention, so I shall get right on it. Excuse me my dears." With that, she was bustling out of her rooms trusting them to leave when they were ready. Yes, there was plenty to be seeing to and not a moment to waste!

Tanly listened quietly to everything Alda was saying. No one could fault the Headwoman for being a slacker. She couldn't believe how fast Alda was sure she could pull things together. The green rider had figured at least two sevendays if not more. "Thank you, Alda," she said with a smile.
She looked over at B'ren with a grin. They really hadn't discussed where they would have the get together. "We'll talk and make sure you know as soon as we do," she promised. Tanly didn't want to make things any harder on Alda then they already were.

B'ren couldn't help but give Alda a run for her marks. He knew as well as she it was always a bit of friendly, if not at times intense, rivalry between his connections and hers. Especially when it came to haggling for goods and merchandise. It came as no surprise when the Headwoman told him there was still some good wines in storage, but she could always bring in more. Two, Alda gave her own personal guarantee that nothing would happen like the fiasco at the Hatching Feast. When the Headwoman gave a promise like that, there would be no way for her to renege. Nodding his assent, the Brown Rider spoke up. "I think we'll have to hold the celebration in one of the private chambers. Our weyr won't hold that many people, I don't think." Indeed, it was a bit odd for him to refer to his quarters as "our weyr", now that Tanly moved in with him, but he liked the sound of it.
Grinning at Alda as though she acted like a woman with a mission, B'ren rose to his feet and helped Tanly to hers when the Headwoman dismissed them. "Thanks again, Alda. You're the best."

Tanly let B'ren pull her to her feet. Having the celebration in one of the private chambers sounded like a good idea. She hadn't been too sure about trying to have it in their weyr. She still got shivers when she thought about it being their weyr. The green rider leaned her head against B'ren's shoulder, smiling. She couldn't have been happier with everything that had happened so far. And having Alda to help them with their special celebration only added to it. "One of the private chambers sounds great," she agreed. "And yes, thank you, Alda. For everything."
