Cybele looked out on her ledge anxiously. Chandrath was sleeping, but fitfully. Her hide was looking exceptionally healthy...too healthy. She'd been snappish of late. It was clear the Queen would rise within the next sevenday. And that left a problem, what to do with the weyrling dragons. They were still newborns, not even close to strong enough to fly, yet something had to be done with them during the Flight. The emotions of the Gold rising would confuse them, and for the weaker ones, might send them between.
So she sent Argent for G'fal, Toniel, and Q'del, needing to discuss this before it was too late. She had an idea, but wasn't sure if it would work.

G'fal had been quietly walking through the weyrling barracks to make sure everyone was alright. The dragonets had just been fed, so most were sleeping and it was easy to see that their newly bonded weren't far behind them. The Weyrling Master smiled. Besides a couple small incidents things had gone pretty well. He looked up in surprise when Argent appeared and wondered what the Weyrwoman wanted.
I'll be back soon, Treoth. Keep an eye on things for me, will you?
Of course, but do not worry. The littles are all tired, so things will be fine.
G'fal smiled at his brown's assurance and headed for Cybele's weyr. He stopped outside and knocked, waiting patiently. He didn't want to just walk in on her.

Toniel waded out of the water of the lake and waited to Aylinth to join her on the shore so that she could oil the gold. There was a bucket full of the shiny substance, with a brush laying beside the pail. She rinsed out the bucket that had contained sweetsand, taking care to remove the suds from the brush she had used to scrub her lifemate. Soon, the deep gold came onto the sands, shaking briefly to remove some of the excess water. Just as Toniel lifted the brush to begin oiling her, a silver firelizard popped out of between right beside her, showering her with a burst of cold air. "Argent?" she asked, recognizing the bright silver hide.
She could only assume that meant one thing: that Cybele wanted to see her in her weyr. Toniel dropped the brush in her oil bucket, more than a little worried. She had not spoken much with the Weyrwoman since the incident at the Hatching Feast, but she'd caught wind of Q'del, G'rett's and even Quindara's punishments. Shells, every time her and G'rett happened to meet eyes, he send her such a fierce glare that she nearly whirled on him just to remind him that she was a goldrider and he ought to respect her as such. But she didn't, keeping herself carefully restrained. She would not be known for angry episodes like the one at the feast.
Toniel arrived at the Weyrwoman's weyr minutes after G'fal and gently rapped on the door. "It's Toniel," she announced quietly as she waited to be admitted.

Q'del was now finally recovered fully from his concussion and also it was his first day back drilling his wing. His Wingecond had taken care of things admirably in his absence and so he was in a good mood as he bathes the sweat from drills away. Suddenly, Argent appeared in the room, startling him. He knew this meant Cybele wished to see him, and Chandrath was probably asleep. He wondered what she wanted, and hoped it wasn't anything bad. Not only that, he hoped Argent didn't report finding him naked in visual detail. That would be too embarrassing. He told the silver he'd be there shortly and shooed her away so he could rinse the suds off. Demnoth was freshly bathed and oiled, and just drifting off into dreamland. The bronze had worked hard today.
He dressed quickly and was soon on his way. Making his way to Cybee's office, he noticed G'fal and Toniel already waiting. "Good day Toniel, Weyrling Master. It looks like we've all been summoned." It relieved him somewhat, to know it wasn't about him.
Just then Cybele opened the door. "Thank you for coming so promptly. There's something we need to discuss, and I would prefer to do it while the Queen is asleep. So, please come in and have a seat."

"Good day, Weyrsecond," G'fal said friendly. He was in high spirits. Thankfully nothing else majored had happened with his weyrlings. Besides of course Quindara's actions, but the girl was doing better and both F'har and S'tex seemed to be healing fine. And the dragonets were doing great, so the Weyrling Master couldn't have been happier. "And to you as well, Weyrwoman's Second." He didn't want Toniel to think he was rude.
The brown rider smiled at Cybele and let Toniel enter first. It seemed only proper. He then followed the two in, taking one of the chairs that Cybele had pointed to. He hoped everything was alright. He couldn't quite tell by Cybele's actions, so he could just have to wait to find out what she had to say.

Toniel dipped her head politely to the Weyrsecond and the Weyrlingmaster. Things had changed between her and Q'del, certainly for the better. She wasn't exactly confessing her undying love to him, but she had loosened up considerably. Oh, she would still seem like the same stony woman that she always had been, but in private, she let go just that slightest bit. Enough to make her human. Before she could do more than that small greeting, the door was opening and the Weyrwoman appeared in the opening. "Weyrwoman," she murmured. The Weyrwoman's words worried her slightly, but other than a brief downward twitch of her eyebrows, she didn't show it. She knew Chandrath was due to rise soon and she wondered if this might have something to do with that.

Q'del nodded to G'fal and flashed Toniel and smile as the door opened. He was certainly pleased in the change in their relationship. It might not seem grand or even noteworthy to others, but to him it meant the world. But now was not the time to think of that. He followed Toniel inside and took a chair next to her, bot curious and worried by the Weyrwoman's words.
"As I'm sure you are aware, Chandrath is due to rise soon. In fact, I believe it will be withing the sevenday. Here is my issue...the weryling dragons are too young to fly or go between. I' afraid they are so young, that the feelings of the Goldflight may well overwhelm some of them. If nothing is done, we could very well lose a few dragonets. I have an idea of my own, but I'd like to hear any solutions you three have in mind before I say. It too, has its own risks, though less, I think."

G'fal sat quietly. He could tell that Cybele had something on her mind. He sat up straighter when she mentioned the upcoming gold flight. The Weyrling Master frowned. The dragonets were definitely too young to understand the mix of emotions and he hated to think about losing any of them. The weyrlings were like his children. They were under his care until they graduated.
The brown rider thought for a minute. "Would it be possible to move them to a safe place for a couple days with the help of the older dragons?" he mused. He wasn't sure how the dragonets would handle being carried by the adult dragons, but they had to get them away from the Weyr just until after the flight. "And of course I'll stay with them to make sure nothing happens to them."

The barest of smiles tugged at the sculpted corners of Toniel's mouth in response to the Weyrsecond's. She was far from ready to say she had anything going beyond a professional partnership with him and at most she might consider him a friend. Any thoughts to further relationships were still quite distant in her mind. But she felt more at ease around him than before and that certainly counted for something. She sat quietly in the Weyrwoman's office, eyes watching Q'del briefly as he, too, took a seat.
When the Weyrwoman began to speak, Toniel paid her the utmost attention, knowing her duty came before all else. Ah, so Chandrath was indeed going to rise quite soon. She had suspected as much and had had an inkling that perhaps it would happen as soon as the Weyrwoman said. Toniel listened as G'fal proposed his own idea. She nodded in agreement. "I don't know that we have enough wagons to carry them and they are too young still to walk far enough to escape a queen's influence, so I believe the Weyrlingmaster has the best idea, here," she said with a glance over at the man.

Cybele nodded. "I had considered that idea. But I'm afraid the dragonets might panic, and there is no real way to restrain them safely. They could injure themselves or the older dragon. Plus a scare like that might very well drive them between. And most are already too large to be held in their rider's lap without danger. I have been thinking about it for a while and I remembered that when we transport animals dragonback.. Like canines and felines.. Sometimes we drug them. I talked this over with a dragonhealer and they said it was plausible. But then I thought.. Why bother taking them anywhere at all? We could drug the dragonets and leave them in the Barracks. And the older weyrlings can stay if they want. It should be perfectly safe for all the dragonets. Of course there is a danger that one of the weyrlings might get pregnant.. But by the time that becomes a problem the dragons will be old enough to understand. I know it's a wild idea.. But I think it's the safest."

G'fal listened quietly. Cybele was right. The dragonets could panic and they didn't need that happening. The Weyrling Master wasn't real keen on the idea of drugging the dragonets, but it seemed to be the safest and most logical idea. He finally nodded. "I think you are right, Weyrwoman. I will stay in the barracks and make sure none of the riders panic either. I'm sure it will be hard for them to take seeing their life mates drugged." He knew there was no way for Treoth to catch Chandrath anyhow considering he was only a brown.

Toniel considered the Weyrwoman's own suggestion. She had her origins in beastcrafting, and therefore, she knew a little bit about animal medicine, but not enough to take any kind of rank in the Dragonhealing craft at the Weyr. The idea of drugging the weyrlings was not one she was one hundred percent comfortable with, but she was right about having the young dragons potentially panic. They could not afford to lose any of them, least of all Artemth or the reds, as they would provide the Weyr with more dragons. So with a pensive look, Toniel nodded.
"We will have to be very careful with the doses we use and it would be best if we had healers on hand in case anything were to go wrong. I am sure that some of the weyrlings have healer training, but unless they have a very level head, I wouldn't trust them not to panic if something were to happen to their dragon."
