Jaysen shook his head when Kiyoni asked him if there was anything she could do to help, or if he needed to pay a visit to the Healers. "I'll be fine," he said softly. "Just every now and then it happens. I'm used to it." He gave a shrug, then listened intently as Kiyoni described her flight but didn't want to go into details. "It sounds as if something didn't quite go as planned. But I'll hold you to your word about the details....and I'll take the enjoyable bit under consideration," he said with a wink. He didn't need to tell her about what had happened yesterday between him and a certain female Candidate. But it was something he was already looking forward to.
Jaysen gave a hearty laugh when Kiyoni commented that there was no way he'd become a salty old sea dog. "It's in my blood, Searchrider," he said grinning. "My father was a sailor and fisher before me. I may not sail to distant lands ever again, but the sea...she'll always be in my heart. She'll always be my first love. Aye, she'll have to share my heart with my dragon once I Impress, but that shouldn't be too hard."

Kiyoni nodded. "As long as you're sure." She didn't want to see anything happen to him. Especially if just a trip to the Healers would help. She silently laughed. She should take her own advice on that matter. "Yeah, the flight went a little haywire," she agreed ruefully. "I'm just glad this one is over." The search rider was glad to see that he didn't seem put off by a flight. That was a good thing. Of course she didn't know anything about the candidate either.
She laughed. 'Well, that could make it rough," she grinned, feeling a bit better. "I can see you as the rider that always goes to visit the sea," she said.

Jaysen simply nodded as he waited for Kiyoni to finish off her fruit juice. "Well, hopefully your next Flight will be a lot smoother." He really didn't know what to say, as he found himself at a loss for words. Clearing his throat, he then laughed with her when she made her comment about him always going to visit the sea. "If I can find time, sure. I imagine that my schedule will be much busier after I Impress."
((Apologies for the short post))

The search rider shrugged a little. "I hope so too," she agreed. "But I think I'm finally getting things sorted out and hopefully if something crazy like that happens again it won't bother me as much." Kiyoni finished off her juice and leaned back in her chair. She nodded in agreement to his words. "As a weyrling things are pretty busy," she agreed. "But once you're a full fledged rider things will slow down a bit. You'll have at least one free day, so you'd be able to visit the sea if that is what you want." She remembered how hard candidate lessons and weyrling training had been. Although it had all been worth it. She wouldn't trade Elliwodth for anything.

"If you need any help with that, I'll see what I can do. But I don't think I'll be worth much until after I make it through my Weyrling training."
Jaysen watched as Kiyoni leaned back in her chair, her own cup now empty. "At least I now know ahead of time just how busy I'll be after I Impress. Hopefully, Misty will help pull me through along with my new hatchling." The queen flit trilled her support, rubbing her muzzle affectionately against her pet's cheek. "It's probably a good thing she's a gold. Still, I wouldn't trade her for all the gems back home. Speaking of which, yeah, I wouldn't mind spending a day on the sea, riding the waves and the wind. Though I have no idea how my dragon would be able to fit on a boat." He shrugged. "I might have to settle for skimming the waves on dragonback. Not as elegant as I'd like for it to be, but I guess it'll have to do."
He rose to his feet, taking his cup and Kiyoni's and was about to take them back when one of the drudges - a young girl - came by and offered to take them from him. Giving the drudge his thanks, he watched briefly as she disappeared into the kitchen area. He shook his head. "I'm not used to having someone else clean up after me all the time. Speaking of cleaning up, I think I should return to the barracks and get ready for the evening meal." Jaysen then reached across the table to take Kiyoni by the hand and gently squeezed it. "Thanks for spending time with me, sis. I'll meet up with you later." The young sailor offered the Searchrider a warm smile, then headed out of the Dining Caverns, his gold firelizard on his shoulder.

"Thank you for the offer, Jaysen," she smiled. "I think I'll be okay now."
Rivi chittered softly from Kiyoni's shoulder. "It may be busy, but trust me, it's well worth it," she grinned. "And they won't be that dependent on you for real long. Once they can hunt for themselves your schedule slows down a bit." She smiled at Misty. she had no doubt the little gold would help Jaysen. "Oh, you'd be surprised. He most definitely won't fit in a boat, but dragons love to swim. I'm sure he'd paddle along beside the boat if that's what you two wanted to do." Kiyoni had doubt that Jaysen would Impress.
She giggled as she watched him. Some people did have trouble getting used to the drudges. "Alright. Thanks for letting me vent and for being so understanding," she smiled. "I'll see you later." Kiyoni stayed seated as she watched the candidate walk away.
