Physical Description: Ravis has black hair that he wears to his shoulders and keeps pulled back with a clip. His eyes are a sable brown, but most of the time they appear black. His skin is tanned from working outside all the time. He stands at 6’2”, but is still in the lanky teenager phase of his life. He has a disfigured left hand that he tries to keep covered with his long sleeve shirts. He wears wherhide pants and calf high boots. Most of the time he can be found in darker colored clothes. He keeps gloves on for the most part to hide his hand.
Personality Ravis is on the quiet side. He is worried that people will think less of him or pity him when they find out about his hand, so he finds it easier to keep to himself. Although before his accident he was very outgoing and loved being around people. With time and the right people hopefully he can be that carefree kid again. He can sometimes come across as almost prissy when he refuses to do certain things. Since he wears gloves not everyone realizes his hand is scarred and they just assume that he doesn’t want to get his hands dirty. Hence his prissy side. In actuality he’s afraid of messing up his chore or not being able to do it at all. Once you get to know him though he will be your best friend. He finds it hard to make friends after his accident and has a tendency to say things before thinking. He tries to bite his tongue though so he doesn’t upset anyone.
Ravis is usually a very obedient person. He never minded doing chores or whatever other task he was set to. Which was why his sisters could always talk him into doing their share of the chores. Although he was a boy and got into trouble from time to time with his friends. Which was the main reason he was injured in the first place. Boys will be boys though. But now Ravis needs an understanding person to get him back into his fun loving self.
History: Ravis was born to Harper Vila and Healer Rasik. He was the youngest and only boy of four. He was always quiet and did what his parents asked. His sisters were constantly picking on him. They always thought their parents were giving Ravis special treatment because of being the only son, so they never let him forget it. They could usually talk him into doing their chores that they didn’t want to because he felt bad that they thought his got special treatment. He enjoyed his Harper lessons with his mother, but knew it wasn’t what he wanted to do.
He would sneak away when he was young and go down to the stables by his house. It wasn’t so much that he minded helping out at home, but he always felt like his mother thought he should be a Harper and he didn’t want to disappoint her, so he kept his love for runners a secret for a little while. Master Jenrik took him under his wing and taught him how to care for the runners. When he turned 13 Master Jenrik took him on as an apprentice. He soon found himself helping to train the runners. To his utter surprise, his mother was thrilled that he had found a craft he loved and encouraged him whole-souled to study under Master Jenrik.
He had a normal life until his 15th Turn. He was working a young filly when his friends came to get him. Of course, they weren’t as quiet as they needed to be and the filly was still jumpy anyhow, so one thing led to another. His one friend kicked a stone across the ground in front of the filly and the filly reared up and darted. Ravis had been holding onto the lead rope and when she ran Ravis was pulled with her. By time the she finally calmed down the damage had already been done. Ravis had had the rope wrapped around his hand which he knew better then to do, but hadn’t been thinking. When he finally managed to get his hand free he could tell something wasn’t right. His hand was swollen and he couldn’t move his fingers real well.
Ravis’ friends hurried him to the Healers, but there wasn’t much to be done. He had pulled a few muscles in his hand and had a cut around his whole hand from the rope that would never go away. He would get use of his hand back, but since the circulation had been cut off so badly it would take a lot of work to get movement fully back.
He took another turn and tried to get on with his life, working his hand every day, but it just wasn’t working. He was getting movement back, but everyone at the Hold seemed to pity him for what happened and it upset him. He didn’t want to be treated any differently. Even his friends treated him differently. Most of them blamed themselves for what had happened. Ravis soon drew in on himself, not wanting to see the pity in everyone’s eyes. He stowed away with a Trader caravan when they stopped in Crooked River, hoping to start again. The Traders helped him learn how to use his hand even though it didn’t function properly. They worked with him every day and soon the boy had almost all movement back in his hand. Although he would carry the scar with him for the rest of his life as a constant reminder.
During his 16th Turn the Traders found a clutch of firelizard eggs and allowed Ravis to pick on. His egg hatched into a handsome brown who he named Trig. After that the little brown went everywhere with him.
When he was 17 the Traders stopped at Nova Weyr and to Ravis’ surprise he was Searched. The boy was ecstatic but nervous too. Thanks to the Traders though he at least wasn’t as uptight about his disfigured hand.
Ravis stood on the Sands and was thrilled when his friend Shem Impressed to a gray. He didn't think he would be worthy of a dragon, but was soon to be surprised. He ended up walking away with a young bronze and the boy couldn't have been happier.

Dragon Name: Pyrith
Dragon Age: just hatched 13.1.2706
Dragon Size: adult length of 40 feet
False Glitter Egg - Bronze Pyrith FFEEAA No matter how jaded, no one can deny that Pyrith is one of the most handsome bronzes ever clutched at Nova. His hide is an almost pure deep gold, and if it weren't for his unmistakeable air of maleness, he might even be mistaken for a Queen. At forty feet exactly, he is huge, healthy, and seemingly perfectly proportioned. His hide almost seems to glow with health and it's color is only marred by delicate mottling of a more traditional bronze color.
Unfortunately, there is a such thing as too beautiful, and Pyrith seems to have gained his enviable features at the expense of his brains. He is a terribly dumb dragon, needing the advice and guidance of his rider at all times lest he stumble off a cliff. He's easily distracted as well as easily fooled, and if a less than scrupulous person or dragon managed to win his confidence, it wouldn't be too hard to trick him into making mischief. He is a gentle, trusting, good - hearted dragon for the most part, very willing in anything his rider wants. His main vice is vanity, he knows he is beautiful and can easily get lost in contemplating his own reflection. Of course, he's also just as easily lost contemplating flowers and clouds, so perhaps it isn't too hard to imagine.
