Dankal had been Searched only a few days prior and had been told that he could go and touch the eggs, providing that he followed the rules that everyone else followed. So, he waited for a spare moment of free time and followed his sister to the Sands, following her example before proceeding to wander through the eggs nestled lovingly in the warm sand. Several eggs beckoned him, not one more than another, but he did leave a fair few untouched by his hand. A cluster of Chandrath’s eggs drew him the most and he took up a seat at a point that placed him at nearly equal distances between each of them. There, the newly Searched Candidate sat, gazing at each egg in turn with dark evergreen eyes full of thoughts of the loss of his little brother, love for his sister and cousin that he still had, and hope that inside one of these eggs, a dragonet that would never leave his side was waiting for the day to hatch and call his name. Siala would be so proud of him, as would Veekally.
He had sat there for a couple of candlemarks, unaware of the time that had passed him by in the calm of the Hatching Grounds, unaware of a minor burn on the palm of his right hand from holding himself up to see each egg around him, and certainly unaware that it was time for the evening meal until his sister quietly shook him from the deep thoughts shifting throughout his mind. “Dankal, time to go.” Little did he know that his sister had called his name four times before he reacted and he turned to look up at the girl that had helped keep him alive the past two turns when they were on their own. He smiled at his sister and carefully got up, a prickling sensation shooting through his right foot and lower leg from having sat for so long in one position. “One of these ones has my lifemate,” he said as he waved a hand at the eggs that had held his attention for so long before brushing sand off himself, the tingling in his burnt hand dismissed as numbness like his foot and leg were.
Veekally smiled and led her brother from the Sands so that they could go eat with Siala before the evening’s free time to see the eggs again if they so chose. “Excitin’ ain’t it?” Veekally asked her brother as they joined a few other Candidates on their way off the Sands for the evening meal.
((OoC: If anyone wants to spark a conversation with these two, it’s fine with me. Just trying to get my charries all played. C: ))
