physical description:
R'il certainly can't be described as bulky, or even trim. He's built like a stick: scrawny, bony, and so long and gangly that it's surprising he can even coordinate himself. Despite his proportions, the greenrider looks smaller than his real height of 5'7" because of the way he slouches. Usually, the way he moves makes him resemble a small, scurrying animal - quick, light movements that don't waste time or energy. Except, of course, for his fidgeting - sometime in his past, R'il developed a habit of fidgeting, twisting his hands in front of him and playing with the hem of his shirt whenever he gets nervous.
With pale skin, plus the nervous expression he's almost always wearing, R'il looks like a bundle of nerves and that description isn't far off the mark. His muddy brown eyes are usually wide and frightened, as if he's constantly looking for someone to try and hurt him or perhaps order him around. His hair is a plain, middle shade of brown - wispy, flyaway, and almost always staticky. It makes him look rather unkempt, despite its short length, and the greenrider is terribly self-conscious about it. He's also self-conscious about his clothes, which can by no stretch of the truth be called 'nice'. They're plain at best and ugly at worst, and he usually wears a patched, shabby black tunic over equally shabby brown pants. At least he keeps his clothes clean - they're plain, but at least they aren't dirty.
personality:
R'il has always been soft-spoken, but never more so than after he came to the Weyr. Shy and nervous, he invariably follows orders - it doesn't matter what they are, as long as his superiors don't become angry with him. Living as a servant turned him into more a follower than ever before; though he was never really fit to lead, he has now become virtually incapable of speaking up for himself, and is indeed horribly submissive. If someone shows even the slightest bit of dominance, the greenrider will back down and do what they ask, just to avoid being shouted at. He can't stand being scolded; although he's learned not to cry, that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt when someone berates him.
The same fear extends to large groups of people. Terrified of crowds, R'il keeps to himself as much as possible and, unless he's required to be present, he generally avoids these gatherings. If it will make a superior happy, of course, he'll go - but he certainly won't like being present. Even face to face with just one person, the greenrider is anxious and uncomfortable, rarely knowing what to say, and it isn't uncommon for him to stutter and trip over his own words. Only in the presence of close friends can he break this habit.
R'il isn't stupid, however. Though he can read just a few words and write only his name, the greenrider has an excellent head for numbers and, if he were encouraged to do so, he could easily use this skill for a craft. Of course, being denied the ability to think for himself has made the boy almost sheeplike; he's afraid to state his own ideas and opinions (though he does have them) for fear of angering a superior. After coming to Nova Weyr, however, he's slowly begun to lose this aspect of himself - though he's no braver, if he's asked for his opinion he'll sometimes, sometimes give it. At the very least, he's slightly less afraid that he'll be hurt if he accidentally says something wrong.
history:
Revil was born to his mother Kelosa and her husband, Chiral. Members of a tight-knit group of Holdless, the pair brought a great deal of joy into the world along with their firstborn son, and the other Holdless celebrated the new birth. Two turns later, Loznys was born, and then, a turn after him, Tivela followed. Each birth was welcomed by the group, and being so close to one another, the three siblings couldn't help but be friends with everyone in the caravan.
Although they traded sometimes, the Holdless group's main profit was the huge amount of love they generated for one another. Because the group was so small, every member of it was essential, and everyone was equal. All involved thought it was the best possible way to live, and Revil, although quiet, was happy. Everyone knew him and realized that he had an aversion to being the center of attention - so, although he was friendly with the caravan, they didn't crowd him. The setup was ideal.
Closest to Revil's heart, however, were his two younger siblings. He was shy, but he was also willing to defend them with his life. Gentle and quiet, he taught them all of the things he knew about Pern and living Holdless, and Lozynys and Tivela developed a close relationship with Revil and each other. The three children were totally inseparable, moreso even than the rest of the group. Both younger kids loved the stories their brother made up for them, and there were many nights when Thread rained from the sky and the children, forced to take shelter under rocks, begged their big brother for stories and the knowledge he possessed. Their parents, proud of their three lovely and well-behaved children, encouraged the bonds between them, and the entire family was loving and caring with one another. They were friendly people, inclined to share a meal and a drink with whomever they encountered on the road, and were close to all other members of the Holdless group.
These happy days, unfortunately, were not to continue forever. One morning, the caravan moved out, but it didn't get far. Scarcely an hour into its travels, a blue dragon dropped down onto the road in front of the Holdless. The rider demanded that all of the children line up to be inspected, and Kelosa and Chiral fearfully allowed their three kids to be investigated by the blue.
Only Revil passed the test. Sending all of the other children back to what they were doing, the bluerider insisted that the eleven-turn-old boy come with him, and his parents, in tears, saw that they had no choice but to give up their eldest son. Even the battle-smart Holdless knew that they couldn't protest the will of a dragon loaded with firestone, and so they let the boy go.
Revil was taken to K'ain's Weyr and informed that he was to stand for a green's clutch there. Although not happy about it, the shy boy saw that he had no choice, and so he attended the Hatching as he was meant to. Obviously the blue hadn't misjudged, as the very first green that hatched wasted no time in making her way to Revil. Her name, she said, was Therindeth, and she loved her R'il! Overjoyed at his luck (at least, at that moment), the new greenrider led his hatchling away, and together they fell into life at K'ain's Weyr.
It wasn't pleasant. R'il, as a greenrider, a child, and a new face, was treated only marginally better than a drudge. Between that and the fact that Therindeth became sexually mature when he was twelve turns old, the boy descended into a pit of terrible shyness and fear. He didn't like the Weyr, but he knew better than to say anything about it. In fact, he never said anything at all if he could help it, instead choosing to scuttle around doing the bidding of his superiors in quiet submission. Having seen the results of what happened when one angered K'ain or one of the other riders, R'il made it a point never to do so himself. And for the most part he succeeded in avoiding any serious trouble.
And then, out of no place he'd been looking, the riders of Nova Weyr attacked. Although he played no real part in the confusion, having been, as a guardrider, tied up outside for much of it, R'il did remind a bronzerider of his son. Encouraged to move to Nova Weyr, the greenrider hesitantly accepted the offer, having no clue what life there might be like. He and Therindeth moved to the other Weyr, the one they'd never even heard of, and soon found that it was a great deal better than K'ain's Weyr. He wasn't treated like a drudge there, and at long last R'il began to get used to the idea that he could have his dignity back, although he'll never be anything approaching bold. However, he is better than he used to be - if he's asked a question, he'll sometimes answer with his own opinion. Sometimes. But he still has a long way to go before he's anything resembling normal again.

dragon name: Therindeth

dragon size: 23 feet
physical description:
{526F35}
Therindeth, at 23 feet long, is about average length for a green. However, she's a bit scrawny, with long legs, a narrow build, and a body that won't put on weight no matter how much R'il makes her eat. This probably has something to do with hatching from a green's clutch, and equally as much to do with living in the snowy wastes for much of her life. Her wings are a bit big for her body, but are nothing unmanageable.
The green's hide is a greyish olive shade, with freckles of lime green spattered all over her. Therindeth takes great pride in this, and incorrectly believes that she is the most beautiful green in the world. Needless to say, she isn't - but she isn't ugly, either. She's just misguided.
personality:
Therindeth isn't the brightest green on Pern. 'Ditzy' is a great way to describe her: ditzy in the way of a teenage girl... but in dragon form. She cannot bring herself to shut up, and, being obsessed with talking to people, the green will happily babble about anything to anyone, whether or not her victim is listening to her. This can be annoying to some people but, needless to say, Therindeth doesn't really care. She just likes to hear herself talk.
Despite living in K'ain's Weyr for most of her life, the green never became subdued or even less talkative. In fact, she is impossibly cheerful, being able to find the bright side of any situation. Unfortunately, much like the teenage girl she can be compared to, Therindeth is easily upset and when she gets into one of her moods, she throws dragon-sized tantrums. Usually they're over something stupid, too, and as a rule she just harmlessly raves, rants, and generally freaks out without actually hurting people. Try to hurt R'il, however, and Therindeth flies into action to defend her timid rider. Usually, however, her lifemate stops her from doing anything stupid.
Regardless of all of this, Therindeth is a sweet creature. She adores R'il, and would do anything for him, up to and definitely including comforting him when he's upset. Although not particularly bright, her loving nature more than makes up for it, and the green has never been known to abandon her rider when he is upset. Unfortunately, she frequently is the cause of his unhappiness, as she flirts incessantly with males, and she's not subtle about it. Having dealt with this since age twelve, R'il is rather traumatized by his green's behaviour, but it's the one thing Therindeth doesn't notice: she just picks up the pieces and puts her rider back together after she's done wrecking his good day via flirtation.
