Meera set down the hide she had been using to scribble some ideas down for a new song she had in her head. Nothing was really coming to her. She was worried about M'lym. He had seemed so engrossed in his work lately and she knew that wasn't good for him. The green rider finally left her hide on the table and got up. She couldn't think anyhow.
The green rider headed for M'lym's weyr. She wasn't sure if he would be there, but it would be a start. Meera stopped outside his door and knocked. She waited patiently, hoping he would be around. She really needed to see him. She had missed him terribly. And the rescue mission had only made her realize how deep her feelings were for him.

M'lym hadn't felt like his usual self lately. It wasn't the rescue mission that weighed on his mind, nor was it losing the Goldflight to T'tarel. Sure, there wasn't much one could do when your dragon was competing with several others for a prize like Chandrath - and by the same virtue, to become the next Weyrleader and consort of Cybele - yet M'lym silently prayed the younger Bronze Rider would be up to the demanding tasks of leadership. He was just thankful the whole affair was over with, and hopefully the Weyr could now move forward. G'rett he would keep a close if not surreptitious eye on; the older man often wished devoutly that the brash Wingleader would learn to settle down and become a bit more responsible. It may or may not prove to be wishful thinking on his part, but M'lym knew you didn't get anywhere in life in forty turns without learning a few things...and taking a few hard knocks every now and then.
It wasn't his son, Edilon, either. No, it was something else that rankled him, that got under his skin and wouldn't quit bothering him. Something that he'd never thought of before until now. A certain woman named Meera. M'lym never really made time for a woman in his life - not even his old weyrmate Lonna - as he was always devoted to his work. In hindsight, he could have made more time for Lonna and his son...would it be time to re-think on his relationship?
Not likely. The aged Wingleader shook his head, not wanting anything to distract him from his thoughts until he heard a knock at his door. Iverasth was sleeping soundly on the ledge, a rare sunny day during this particular season; letting out a deliberate sigh, M'lym rose to his feet and made his way over. He opened the door, and blinked in surprise when he saw whom his visitor was. Clearing his throat to hide his sudden discomfort, he offered a soft smile to the Green Rider. "Meera. Do come in..."

Meera had managed not to start fidgeting as she waited for M'lym to answer. She was too old to be this nervous about talking with a male. It wasn't like she didn't talk to men all the time. Of course it was different then. She didn't have feelings for them. But then who could say that M'lym felt the same way. She wouldn't think about that now. She would just make sure that he was alright and that he didn't need anything. She knew he had been injured during the rescue mission and she hadn't seen him all that often to make sure things were going alright.
The green rider stood straighter as the door opened. She flashed M'lym a smile, her silvery blue eyes dancing. "Thank you kindly," she said, stepping into his weyr. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything." Of course she knew that he was always working. There was no way to not interrupt him there.

"No, not really. Just...well, I guess I could take a break from my work," M'lym answered as Meera passed through the entryway of his weyr. Closing the door behind her, he wondered what he should do next. Offer her a seat? Something to drink, perhaps? What would be the best course of action? M'lym tried to keep any semblance of thought away from his normally stoic appearance, but the very presence of Meera was making him a bit uncomfortable. She wasn't like Lonna at all; sure, he was much younger back then, and was practically attracted to her when they first met. She'd borne him a son, but it was his work that kept him away from his family. Ultimately, it cost him his relationship with Lonna and with his only child, Edilon. The boy shared some of the same traits as his father, but it was their difference in personality that drove them apart. Edilon - E'lon, now - had Impressed to a Green named Danuth. Truthfully, while he was happy his son finally Impressed, he devoutly wished it was to something else that would hopefully wouldn't lead to any potential problems down the road.
He just would have to learn to accept what he'd been dealt so far, and go with it. Which meant getting to know Meera better. He'd danced with her at the last Hatching Feast and thoroughly enjoyed himself, but he could never bring himself to admit the fact he...
Was it? Had he finally learned to actually love again? Could he find true, genuine love with someone like Meera? She had practically stayed at his side for all this time, but he thought of himself as too old. Meera wasn't exactly a young flower herself, but there was something that allowed the two to connect on a far deeper level than the Wingleader ever thought possible. "Actually..." M'lym started to say after finding his voice. "I could use a break from my work. Care to join me for some klah in the Dining Chamber? There was something I wanted to talk to you about."

Meera could sense M'lym's discomfort. She hadn't meant to make him uncomfortable, but she had wanted to see him. She had had many bed partners because of Vanlith, but the green rider had never actually cared for any of them. She never had the feelings that she was experiencing now. And with M'lym of all people. Everyone knew about his habit to work too much and kind of ignore everyone else in his life. But for some reason Meera didn't care. She would take her chances.
The green rider glanced around the weyr She didn't want to just sit down without asking. Sure, she'd spent quite a bit of time here when M'lym was recooping after his injuries, but this was different. He was back on his feet now and didn't need her help. He could send her packing anytime he chose too.
Meera turned around when he spoke. "I think getting away from work for a bit would be good for you," she smiled, her silvery eyes dancing. "I've been working on a couple new songs. Maybe you'd like to hear them." The rider nodded. "That sounds fine." He wanted to talk to her? She wondered what about.
