This FAQ will be a work-in-progress, since we'll try our best to answer any questions that will undoubtedly be asked by players and guests alike...
Q: What's your correlation between "real-time" and "Weyr time"?
A We have shifted to what I would call a seasonal system. A season lasts three months approximately in weyr time, and the ultimate goal is that it should only last a month real- time. In practice, it will last as long as it takes to wrap up most of the posts. So technically, one Turn of weyr time should last four months of RL time.
Posts are still required to be dated in the same way, for reasons of keeping a semi- coherent timeline, but you may post on any day during the season. Just try not to create too many time paradoxes. The current season and the expected weather is posted in the side-scrolling news bulletin.
Q: Are mature content/posts allowed? I noticed you don't have a password-protected board for that.
A: Proboards has a policy that frowns on mature content being posted on any of their member sites. Obviously, this would include NSFW and NFYOSS (Non-Fourteen-Year-Old-Sister-Safe) material; even if we use password-protected boards any of the PB staff will be able to view what's inside. On the other hand, we do maintain a private board elsewhere that lets us post mature content to our hearts' desires. Simply drop a PM to one of the staff members for details on where said board is and how to get access. The one policy regarding the mature board, obviously, is you must be AT LEAST 18 years of age or older.
Q: Are you currently hiring any new staff members?
A: We are currently hiring for a new Global Moderator, in light of some changes/departures. This person will be asked to maintain a regular presence on the forums (not all the time, of course, but at least post on a regular basis) along with helping to keep the boards clear of trolls. For more information, please contact one of the staff members via PM.
Q: I'd like to help out with moderating/coding/general admin duties...?
A: See above. Additionally, if you have really, really good knowledge of CSS/JavaScript/Flash coding, please send our lead developer some samples of your ORIGINAL work for his review. If he likes what he sees, he'll present it to the rest of the staff for an up/down vote before implementing it into our boards...and yes, he'll give you credit.
