Tanly frowned in frustration as once again she dropped her hair brush to the floor. She bent down and retrieved it once again, hissing when she bumped her bandaged wrist. Having a bum wrist was not making things easy. She was learning real fast that she couldn't brush her hair and getting dressed was a real trial of her patience.
The green rider soon gave up on the idea of brushing her hair and stood up. She rubbed her broken wrist gently as she walked out to check on Cadalayith. Thankfully her beloved green hadn't been injured during the fight. Tanly sat down on the couch and ran a hand through her knotted hair.

B'ren had taken a beating at the hands of the rogue Riders, and now their numbers had been absorbed into the ranks of Nova. That was fine and dandy, but that still didn't mean he wasn't going to scowl at them. As far as he was concerned? They had hurt his Tanly, and they were going to eventually pay.
He had also defied orders to remain in the Infirmary, as his torso was wrapped in heavy gauze. B'ren was used to pain, but he still winced every so often as he made his way from the Infirmary to his weyr. Tanly was his weyrmate, and he heard her hiss just as he walked in. Her hairbrush was on the floor, and she rose to walk over to check on Cadalayith before sitting down on the couch.
B'ren took his time in kneeling down to retrieve Tanly's hairbrush, then he walked over behind her and started to brush out her hair. He knew she would object to his being there in the first place, so he simply paused for a moment to plant a kiss on her cheek before resuming.

Tanly hadn't heard B'ren's soft steps. Last she had known he was still in the infirmary. Which she had stayed with him as much as she could until she had been shooed out to get some rest. She still wasn't sure how to handle the rogue riders that had been brought into the Weyr. The majority of them were still in the infirmary and she had been surprised at how young most were.
The green rider jumped in surprise and turned when she felt the brush in her hair. "B'ren!" she cried happily. She got to her feet and hugged his carefully, not wanting to hurt him by accident. She knew he had been badly injured and was actually surprised to see him out of the infirmary already.

He had to take a step back when Tanly rose to her feet and greeted him, trying not to aggravate his injuries when she hugged him. The scoundrel forced himself to grin to override the pressure of her arms around him, but he could live with it. "Couldn't stand to be away from you, darling," B'ren said, giving his weyrmate and lover a kiss. "Poor Tess kept insisting that I remain in the Infirmary, but I told her there would be a warm night between before I couldn't be allowed to have my girl next to me under the furs. She just shot me a dirty look." He started to laugh, but the pain in his body caused him to stop short and wince. He pointed to the chair by the mirror. "Sit down and I'll come join you. Unless, of course, you'd rather me brush your hair while you're standing."
It was times like this when B'ren idly wished he had been given slightly larger quarters that had a private bathing chamber. Not that it bothered him that he had to share the common facilities with the other non-ranking male Riders, but there were times he wanted to spend a nice soak alone with Tanly.

Tanly quickly backed up when he winced. "Sorry," she said apologetically. She giggled softly. "I'm sure Tess didn't appreciate that, but I am glad to see you." She had missed not having him beside her. Even if it was just to cuddle up next to him. She had never thought she would need someone like that, but she loved B'ren. Even with his reputation. She could just imagine Tess' reaction to B'ren's words. The green rider smiled and carefully sat back down. "Are you sure you're able to help?" She didn't want to see him hurt himself worse.
Tanly turned her back on B'ren, keeping her wrist on her lap. It was throbbing, but she wasn't going to say anything. Her broken wrist wasn't nearly as bad as what B'ren had gone through.

B'ren simply nodded when Tanly asked if he would be able to help, and as soon as she sat down and rested her wrist on her lap did he begin. It wasn't a grueling exercise, as it took minimal effort to work the brush through his weyrmate's hair. Shards, how he missed her while he was forced to stay in the Infirmary. Perhaps Tess herself could use someone to cuddle with at night. Then maybe she'd understand. It just wouldn't be him.
He continued to work the brush as gently as possible, doing his best not to pull while he worked out the knots and tangles. Finally, that's when it hit him. He set the brush down on the small table, and looked at Tanly in the mirror. "I don't know about you, darling," he said. "But I wouldn't mind a good long soak in one of the private bathing chambers. Maybe one of the Wingthirds isn't using theirs. You want to come with me to look?"

Tanly was actually thankful that B'ren felt he was able to brush her hair. She hadn't been able to do it properly and it was really starting to bother her. You could only pull it up so often without getting a ton of knots in it. The green rider closed her eyes in bliss as he brushed her hair. She still couldn't believe how natural it felt to have B'ren around all the time. She couldn't even think what it was like before him now.
She opened her eyes partway when he stopped brushing. He had been gentle with all the knots and she was thankful for that. She felt bad that he had hit so many though. "Mmm, that does sound inviting," she agreed. Tanly really hadn't been in the mood to go to the public bathing pools. "Do you really think we'll be able to find one?" she asked hopefully, getting to her feet again.

B'ren took a step back as Tanly rose to her feet, thinking that yes, a soak in one of the private bathing chambers would be in order. When she asked if they would be able to find one, B'ren gave as much of a shrug as he could without aggravating his injury. "I'm sure we will," he said. He then took her by her good hand, and led the way out. "All of the private chambers are on a different floor from us, one down I think."
It took B'ren a while, but when he stopped a passing drudge and made an inquiry was he directed to one of the Wingthird's chambers. That particular fellow, the drudge explained, was still laid up in the Infirmary. The scoundrel's belt pouch was never far from his reach, and B'ren fished out a 10-mark piece and pressed it into the drudge's palm. "Just keep quiet about it," he said with a wink. "And give us about, oh, three or more candlemarks before you come in to clean up the mess. We'll try to keep it as clean as possible."
Grinning at Tanly, B'ren gently guided her to the designated chamber. He stuck his head inside and nodded, pleased that it was currently unoccupied. "I'd offer to carry you in, darling, but it wouldn't be wise of me to lift you." It wasn't long before he stepped into the steam of the private bathing chamber, the warmth was already starting to penetrate the pores in his skin and help him relax a little. He looked at Tanly. "I know I shouldn't get this gauze wet, but it can't be helped. But I shouldn't be bleeding as far as I know. Two, you'll need some help with getting undressed. Allow me."

Tanly smiled and lay her hand in his. She leaned against his shoulder briefly before they slipped out of their weyr. A nice lazy bath in a private bathing chamber sounded like just the thing. She was looking forward to not being rushed out.
The green rider cringed when the drudge said the rider was still in the infirmary. She felt bad for the rider, but at the same time she was glad for chance to use his bathing chamber. She giggled as B'ren handed over a 10 mark. Leave it to him. She looked at him in surprise. Three candlemarks? Well, who was she to argue? That sounded perfect.
Tanly followed B'ren inside. "Mmm, this looks perfect," she smiled. She chuckled softly. "No, we don't want you hurting yourself," she agreed. Putting him back in the infirmary didn't sound like a good idea to her. Tanly hadn't thought about the bandages. "If the water gets too much just say so," she said gently. She blushed, but smiled. "How very true," she agreed with a purr, stepping up to him. "Oh what a gentleman. What would I ever do without you?" she smiled seductively.
