Randy sat curled up on the couch with her head cushioned on her arms. She still had a small bandage on her head from the rescue mission and she was pretty worn out. V'zee had stepped out for a couple minutes and Randy was taking advantage of the quiet. Well, semi quiet.
Ranvik was crawling around happily on the floor. The wherhandler opened opened one eye when she heard his happy squeal. She smiled when she saw that he was trying to climb up Ransk's back. The red wher didn't seem phased by it.
Is he okay, love?
Ransk turned her ugly head toward her handler. He is fine. I watch. You rest. Still look white. Bad cut on head.
She smiled. I'm okay, Ransk. The cut's getting better. She reached up and touched the cut above her left eye. A rock wall isn't very giving.

Ranvik squealed happily again and took a firm grip on a ridge of the wher's tail. He was bound and determined to get up there like daddy did on big dragon. "Sill, Ras!" he babbled, though the wher was not moving on him. He just was not the steadiest of toddlers sometimes.
V'zee had managed to fair with only a set of stitches running most of the length of his left arm from the little battle between Nova Weyr and the group of Benden led dragons. Though some of those riders had been young, they had obviously been taught well how to fight by someone that knew the skills well and had to be a very good teacher. The bronzerider was not thrilled that he was grounded for a few days because of the deep gash tracing the length of his arm, but he was doing the best that he could being one-handed. It had happened before and he was quite well at making it work this time, as well. After finishing his errand, he returned to the weyr he shared with one of Nova's wherhandlers with a pitcher of some peppermint and cinnamon tea for his love to help her feel better.
Stepping into the dim interior of the weyr since it was still daylight outside, the rider paused a moment to smile at his family. He was working on a ring befitting Randy to make their union official. They were both holdbred anyhow. It was tradition. There was his son, playing on the first thing within reach since Kyanath was on the Heights soaking up the sun. Stepping quietly past Ransk, he set the pitcher down out of Ranvik's reach, then proceeded to the couch where Randy lay. Kneeling next to her, he reached up to touch her cheek gently with his right hand. "'Ey, love," he said softly with affection.

Ransk turned her head to watch the little boy. She snorted softly, not at all perturbed by him trying to climb up her back. She almost seemed to laugh as he found a ridge on her tail and was working hard to get up. The red moved her tail just a bit to try to help the toddler. Silly, the wher said in amusement.
Randy smiled tired as she watched. She knew Ranvik was safe with Ransk. The wher wouldn't let anything happen to her son. She was thankful that her wher seemed so tolerant. Not all whers were like that. The young woman hadn't noticed her lover come back as she was watching her son with a smile on her face.
The red wherhandler looked up at V'zee's soft voice. "Hi," she said softly, closing her dark green eyes at his gentle touch.

Ranvik squealed happily as he attempted his feat once again after the red tail moved under him better. "S'eady!" he said before the light blue coloring of Vikki drew his attention. "'Ikki!" he shouted, abandoning his play with the wher to chase his father's firelizard. Vikki trilled softly and circled back on the toddler, staying just out of reach for a few moments in play.
V'zee smiled. "How ya' feelin'?" he asked, looking up at her, icy blue eyes full of concern for her. A good hit to the head was never a very good thing. At least he could sleep without worry since Ransk would be able to watch over her at night for him.

Ransk seemed to laugh as Ranvik started to chase Vikki. The wher curled back up and kept a close eye on the boy and flit. Silly, she said. He won't catch. She had seen Ranvik try to catch Vikki lots of times and hadn't succeeded yet.
Randy smiled fondly at her red. It keeps him occupied though, love. She turned her attention back to her mate and lover. "Still got a pretty bad headache," she admitted, giving him a gentle smile. "I don't feel quite as sore though. How about you?" The young woman still tried not to move too fast. Which wasn't always easy with Ranvik. She laughed when she heard her son's happy squeals.

V'zee smiled and gently brushed some hair out of his mate's face before leaning up to give her a gentle kiss. "Still sore," he said with a characteristic smirk before getting up. "Brou'cha some tea," he said as he headed back for where he had sat the pitcher down. He filled up a mug, then brought it over to the wherhandler, waiting for her to sit up so that he could hand it to her.
Vikki trilled happily as he dove just within reach of the weyrbrat, light blue hide rippling with his acrobatics to play with little Ranvik. **Ranvik no catch** he showed his Pet with a merry chitter as the boy hopped and nearly fell, but carried on happily.

Randy closed her dark eyes at his gentle touch. The cut on her head was still pretty tender, but she knew that V'zee would be careful. She gave him a small smile. "I imagine you are," she said softly. She knew he had been injured worse then her. Although he wouldn't admit it. She'd only been knocked on the head. Which did hurt like crazy. "Mmm, that sounds wonderful," she said, carefully sitting up. She had to keep her eyes closed as a dizzy hit her from moving. "Shards, I'm getting tired of those," she mumbled.
Ransk moved a paw to keep Ranvik from falling over. The boy just giggled again. He had no fear. The wher snorted softly and continued to watch them, making sure Ranvik stayed out of trouble.

Her moment of dizziness did not escape V'zee's icy eyes as he watched her sit upright. That was one good thing about being grounded at the moment still. He could keep a better eye on his mate. Ranvik was enough a handful on his own. Thankfully Vikki and Ransk were good at keeping the 'brat entertained. He handed her the mug after she looked to have gotten over the wave of nausea. "The 'ealers said ya'd feel 'em fer a few days. 'At cut was perty bad," he said, concern touching his quiet voice.
After she had taken the mug, he turned to the noisy child trying to catch his firelizard. He stepped behind Ranvik and scooped him up with his good arm. "'Ow's my lil' man?" he asked cheerily as he carried the boy over to the couch and sat down carefully next to the red Handler.
Vikki trilled merrily as he landed atop Ransk's head carefully, then leaned as far as he could, stretching his light colored neck so that his head hung upside down to look at the wher eye to eye. **Ransk play hide and seek with Vikki?** the blue inquired of the wher playfully. It was always much safer to play with her than with his Pet's Little.

Randy kept her eyes closed as she gently massaged her temples. She wasn't surprised that V'zee had noticed her dizziness. That was one thing with him. She had never been able to keep anything from him, which she really didn't mind. She loved him and wanted him to know everything. Randy sighed softly. "I'll be glad when they're over," she said quietly, looking up at her lover. She could hear the worry in his voice. "I'll be okay," she promised.
Randy sipped on her tea, grateful for V'zee's help. She smiled as her son squealed. Ranvik grinned at his father. "Play!" the boy said happily, throwing his arms up. He looked around for Vikki and Ransk.
Ransk raised her eyes to look at Vikki. The wher liked the little blue. Hide I look, the wher said. She enjoyed playing with Vikki. Even though some whers could be stuffy, Ransk wasn't like that. She could still be playful at times.

V'zee smiled at Randy's reassurance that she would be glad that the dizzy spells were over. The pair had come a long way since their courtship a couple turns back.
"Play what?" the bronzerider inquired of his son merrily. He situated the lad the best he could on his lap so that he could free up his good arm in order to play with the weyrbrat at whatever game he was going to tell him he wanted to play.
Vikki trilled happily at the wher's acceptance of playing hide and seek with him. It was always so much fun! Ransk close eyes. Ransk count four. Ransk find Vikki. he told her merrily before taking wing in the weyr, ready to dart to a hiding place. He played fair. He never used Between to hide.

Randy leaned back against the wall, still feeling a bit ill as she watched V'zee and Ranvik. She sipped on her tea, hoping the dizziness didn't last much longer. "Are you sure you're okay to play, love?" she asked V'zee.
"Um," the boy said thoughtfully, sitting on his father's lap. "Dragon"! he exclaimed, clapping his hands. There was no doubt that the boy was full of energy.
Ransk folded her forelegs over each other Closed, the wher said, closing her eyes. One... Ransk never cheated at playing. She liked trying to find Vikki. It was fun and gave her something to do.

V'zee gave his mate a grin that told her without voice that he was not going to be stopped anyway. Stubbornness went a long way. "I'll be fine, love," he told her in reassurance. If Ranvik hit his arm, so be it. Pain was only temporary.
"Dragon?" he asked of his son. He hardly skipped a beat in response of the hopeful game with a smile, "but 'is dragon's wing's clipped. See?" he said, pointing to his bandaged arm before giving Randy a wink that he was being mindful of his injury.
Vikki whistled merrily before finding his way on the middle shelf of a bunch of Ranvik's things, trying to weasel his way against a blue blanket in order to camouflage himself. Then he curled up as tightly as he could and kept one watchful eye open to watch Ransk from his hiding place.

Randy shook her head as she watched. She should have known V'zee would still play with their son. It was just his way. He was a great father and the boy seemed to adore him. Randy curled up more and rested her head on her arms again.
"No clip," the boy said, studying his father's arm. "Still play?" he asked hopefully. Ranvik loved playing and being with his parents. He didn't understand what had happened during the fight or why both his parents were injured. His mother seemed very quiet lately.
Four! Ransk said, opening her eyes again. The red got to her feet and started looking around. Vikki was good at hiding, which made it more fun for the wher. She started to sniff around.

V'zee noticed his mate's resting with a smile. As soon as he put Ranvik to sleep later, he was going to talk more with her. Maybe their son would do well in the creche for the night even...The thought lingered at the forefront of his mind for consideration while he carried on his current task.
The bronzerider chuckled, dark eyes twinkling at his son's statement. "How 'bout we chase some crawlies?" he asked hopefully. His fascination with the creatures had not dulled from his youthful days about the Hold and he would still catch some just for the sake of it. Plus, Vikki loved the chase, too.
The energetic blue firelizard remained quiet in his excitement at Ransk's counting. Now to try to stay as still as stone until he had been discovered...

Randy yawned a little. She didn't like being tired or dizzy all the time. Although she was thankful that Ranvik seemed to be enjoying himself. She loved the little boy to pieces, but she just didn't have the energy to chase him at the moment. She didn't notice V'zee watching her as she carefully brushed her hair out of her face, wincing when she bumped the gash.
Ranvik's eyes lit up at that suggestion. "Cawlies!" the boy cried happily. That sound like a good plan to him. "Catch wots! Give mum!" The boy always found it funny when Randy reacted to the crawlies.
Ransk sniffed around quietly. She knew Vikki couldn't be far. But she didn't want to find him too soon. She nosed at a few toys as she kept her nose to the ground, watching for the slightest movement.
