Kiyoni gathered up a scrub brush and some sweetsand. She wanted to get Elliwodth cleaned up before it got much later in the day. She smiled back at Arktos who was still sleeping and quietly slipped out of their weyr. She'd come back in a bit and see him. **Come on, Elli. Down to the lake.**
Elliwodth yawned, but stood up with a stretch. She was soon gliding down to the lake. Kiyoni followed behind. The green splashed into the water to get wet while she waited. She always enjoyed her baths.
Kiyoni set her things down and pulled her boots off and shirt off, leaving her in a pair of cut offs and an undershirt. She bent down to retrieve the bucket, but suddenly felt sick and nauseous. The green rider groaned and collapsed, curling up on her side. She closed her eyes, not knowing what was wrong.
Elliwodth bugled worriedly as Kiyoni seemed to pass out. The green threw up her head. Help! she shouted to any who would listen.

Sorbeth was distinctly sure that Mia used the ledge more than she did. Her rider was sat on the edge again, kicking her legs and humming quietly to herself. She'd pulled round a few strands of her black hair and was loosely braiding them and then undoing the braid. To redo it again it seemed.
Sorbeth didn't even need to enquire as to what Hers was doing there, again. If the green could see her rider's face she'd be able to see the dreamy expression and almost wistful gaze as she watched the riders and their dragons from this seat on the ledge. But she didn't need to see Mia's face, or check her thoughts to know what she was thinking about. No, Sorbeth was well aware that Mia was off daydreaming again, on the scout for men that filled her criteria for her future weyrmate. The green sighed inwardly to herself. Time to snap her out of it.
Yawning and stretching, Sorbeth pulled herself up off her couch and lumbered up behind her rider, plonking her bright green behind down on the stone. Mia. Ignored. Well, just not noticed really. Still. Miiiia. Nope, no response. She was really distracted then. MIA! Sorbeth bellowed into her rider's head, accompanied with a snort on the back of her neck. Mia jumped, her humming stopping abruptly as she whirled around to see her green staring down at her. Sorbeth had her 'I'm not impressed with you' look on. "Sorry Sorbeth. Yes?" she asked, as if she'd been in touch with the world this whole time. Bath time. I want a good scrubbing and then a good oiling. That ought to keep her firmly on Pern for a while. "Of course sweety," Mia toned, casting one last glance over the bowl. Anyone of interest down there she could perhaps just bump into whilst washing her dragon?
With some prodding from Sorbeth she soon had everything she'd need gathered up, and vaulted onto Sorbeth's bright back. It wasn't a far distance so she'd just go without the riding straps. Sorbeth launched herself from the ledge and glided most of the way to the lake. There was another green just entering the water for her own bath and Sorbeth was about to bugle a greeting when that very green threw up her head and a distressed cry of Help! rang out. Sorbeth's bugled welcome became a bugle of alarm and she quickly alighted on the ground, landing a bit more heavily than usual because of it. Mia was jolted half off her dragon's back but let herself drop the rest of the way the moment Sorbeth dropped her shoulder to make the distance shorter. She sprinted over to the fallen rider, getting herself into a tizzy. Mia calm down! Sorbeth ordered. Mia nodded frantically, trying to instil calm on herself but succeeding only in sending her hair flying about her face. Pushing it back behind her ears Mia dropped down beside Kiyoni, placing her hand lightly on the other woman's forehead. "Hello, can you hear me?" she asked, barely managing to keep the panic from making her voice waver.
Sorbeth kept clamping down on Mia's thoughts, trying to make her rider calm down, distinctly irked that Mia acted like this in every emergency situation. Raising her two toned head she looked around to see if there was any help arriving. Someone who would be more use than Hers.

Elliwodth looked over quickly when Sorbeth landed. The dark green was just thrilled to see someone else. Anyone who might be able to help her rider. I do not know what is wrong with her, the green said in distress. She was fine and then just doubled over in pain.
Kiyoni had her eyes closed tightly against the pain in her stomach. She didn't respond right away to Mia's voice, but did open pain filled eyes part way when Mia touched her forehead. "I can," she whispered hoarsely, not wanting to try to uncurl yet. She wanted Arktos, but she didn't want to worry him either.
Elliwodth snorted softly. Arkysk, can you send Yours down to the lake? Mine is in some sort of pain and I know she'll feel better if he is here. She didn't care if Kiyoni got mad at her later.

Of course, Arkysk was still asleep at that time of day, but the tone of panc in Eliwodth's mindvoice was enough to penetrate his sleep fogged mind.
Mine! Eliwodth says go down to the lake.Something is wrong with Hers!
Arktos sat up with a start. "Wha-? I'm coming right now!" He was in such a hurry he fell out of bed and Arkysk had to gently remind him to put on pants. But soon enough he was running down to the lakeside, shirtless, bootless and in some disarray. He didn't really care about that though as he knelt next to Kiyoni, peering into her face and brushed hair from her forehead automatically. He barely registered the presence of the other rider.
"What's wrong love? Did you fall? Should I get a Healer?" his normal stoic demeanor was completely broken by the sight of his weyrmate in distress.

Kiyoni had closed her eyes again against the pain she was feeling. She felt awful for putting Mia through this, but she didn't know what to tell the other rider to put her at ease. Mainly because she didn't know herself. She was glad to see that Sorbeth was with Elliwodth though. "I'm sorry I scared you," she whispered to Mia, hoping the other green rider would be okay.
The search rider opened her eyes quickly at her mate's voice. Elli?
I had to get him. You need him. You're in pain, the green answered.
Kiyoni shook her head slightly, not noticing what Arktos was dressed in. "I didn't fall," she whispered hoarsely, still feeling acute pain in her stomach and abdomen. "Maybe a Healer," she said, grimacing in pain.

Tesk was awake again when she shouldn’t be… why was she awake? Oh! Someone said “help.” Help was an important word, Tesk’s said. The most important word for a healer to know, so it was also the most important word for Tesk to know. Help meant… get Tesk’s. Tesk’s was sleeping… Tesk yawned and listened in on the dragons. It wasn’t eavesdropping, really… because one of the said “help” and Tesk was just trying to determine whether or not they met for Tesk’s to help. A bit more nosing about and she decided it was, in fact, the sort of “help” that Tesk’s would want to know about.
Up up! Her wher’s voice was absurdly cheerful in her head, but Tess obediently rose at the sound with a questioning huff. Tesk was unperturbed. Dragon says “help!” Tesk’s go help. By waters.
Healer business, then. Tess rolled out of bed, almost fully dressed – she was used to this sort of call – and grabbed her belt of medical items on her way out. She slid though the doorway, careful not to let in too much light, and picked up a brisk walk once she hit the corridors. Waters… she checked Tesk’s mind for any accompanying images. Ah. Weyrbowl. She made a sharp turn in that direction and idly flitted her fingers along her various pouches, double checking to see that all her supplies were in order.
Tesk, she sent her thoughts to her wher, tell them I’m coming? And do tell them, if there’s no immediate danger, to try and stay still – wiggling tends to only worsen things.
Tesk immediately conveyed the message to Elliwodth. No worry! Tesk’s come. Help soon. Tesk’s say try stay still.
Not too long after, Tess stepped out into the bowl and squinted at the light; she held up a hand to shield her eyes and scanned the water until she found a likely cluster and headed that way at a jog.

Elliwodth looked up when Tesk spoke to them. The green bugled happily. Tesk's comes! the green chanted to both Kiyoni and Arktos. She'll know how to make you better. The green had no doubt that the Healer and Arktos could help her beloved rider.
Kiyoni groaned and curled up more. She had never felt so sick in her life. But she didn't even have a guess what was wrong with her. "Arktos?" she whimpered. She felt bad if she was scaring Mia, but the green rider couldn't help it. She buried her face and let the tears come, wanting the pain to stop.

The Candidate Master was somewhat relieved to hear that she hadn't fallen. Thar rules out broken bones. And his hand against her forehead detected no fever, she wasn't coughing. Not Cloudlung then, his greatest fear was eased. Plus he knew it should be safe enough to move her. He gathered her up in his arms, intending to take her to the infirmary, but just then, the Weyrhealer arrived. Arktos had never been so happy to see the woman. He kissed Kiyoni's forehead before stepping back to let the Healer in. "Dont worry love, Tess is here." he said, trying to mask his own worry in order to sound reassuring. He laid a hand in Eliwodth, both the give comfort and to receive it.

Tess spared a soothing smile for Arktos – he was showing obvious signs of stress, must be closely tied to the injured then – and nodded at the other rider in attendance. Greetings settled, she turned her full attention to Kiyoni. Kneeling beside her, she set a hand briefly on Kiyoni’s shoulder and spoke in a soft, steady voice, “Try and be still – can you tell me what hurts?”
Like Arktos, the first thing she did was check for fever, taking careful mental notes as she went (most of which Tesk recited back to her in a curious mumble). She did a quick body scan before settling in on what appeared to be the main source of pain – abdomen. Could be an internal injury, lesser organ infection, digestive issue, or… or she has an egg!. Yes thank you, Tess thought huffily back, and bent to begin a careful examination of the area. No obvious swelling indicative of internal bleeding, but that only ruled one out.
Tess glanced to the dragons – Greenies! Tesk reminded her, and she nodded a bit in acknowledgement, though her wher wouldn’t see it. That did lend the egg hypothesis more weight, and further examination should be halted until that was ruled out. She sent a brief, curious glance in Arktos’s direction. If this was a pregnancy issue, that would change the drugs available and the speed at which they must address the situation.
Tess’s voice was still soft and calm, but her eyes were deeply intent. She leaned forward a bit so as to keep her words from lifting to anyone else in attendance – this might be a sensitive issue. “I have every reason to believe you’ll be alright and I’ll help stop the pain as soon as I can safely do so – but I need you to tell me if you’ve lain with a man in the last couple months? Did your dragon Fly recently?”

Elliwodth crooned softly as Arktos. Her eyes were still whirling with worry. She lowered her head and nudged Arktos gently as Rivi appeared and sat on the Candidate Master's shoulder.
Kiyoni winced when Arktos picked her up. She was almost thankful to be laying down again. She slowly looked up at Tess and nodded. Staying still sounded like a good idea to her. "My abdomen hurts," she whispered, wanting to curl up again. It seemed to help the pain.
The green rider stayed still and let Tess check her over. She had no idea why she was feeling the way she was. Kiyoni's sapphire blue eyes widened at Tess' question. "Two months ago, Elli rose," she whispered, worry showing in her eyes. "And yes, a few times since then as well." Her and Arktos were weyrmates after all.

Tess nodded and held a hand over Kiyoni’s lower stomach. There were no polite ways to go about checking, and she didn’t have items on her that would aid the process anyway… a bother Tesk wasn’t here, she’d be able to smell the hormonal shift. Can come? Too bright… bring here? Tess supposed she should be used to her wher always snooping around her thoughts, but it still made her blink a bit. Maybe she would, not quite yet though. The time frame was right and pregnancy was one of the more common conditions… still. Better be safe.
“I see.” She still spoke softly enough to keep the conversation between the two of them. “Have you had your monthly bleeding since then? Have you experienced any unexplained bouts of nausea? How has your stamina been, not too fatigued? In a moment, I may ask you to check if you’re bleeding now – we can go to my examining room if you like, but the sooner the better.”

Elliwodth watched her rider closely. She didn't understand what Tess was doing, but she didn't want to ask either. It appeared that the Healer knew what she doing.
Kiyoni winced when Tess touched her. She had never been so tender to the touch or felt so sick in her life. She was cramping worse then she ever had during her monthly, but the green rider still hadn't pieced things together. Her brain wasn't cooperating through the pain.
She listened quietly to Tess. Kiyoni shook her head. "I haven't," she said after some thought. She was always regular, but she had been so busy lately that she hadn't noticed. "Only a little sick a couple of times and I do feel tired easier." Although she wrote that off to doing other things. She looked up at Tess and nodded, not sure why that was important. "I'd rather go to your examining room," she whispered. She didn't care if Arktos was there, but they were out in broad daylight. Kiyoni glanced toward her weyrmate, wondering how he was handling this.

she could hear her! That was good! Good... what else could she do. Mia simply fluttered about, stressing herself out and feling useless. What was she meant to do?! What could she do?! Should she send Sorbeth to find a healer? Should she run for a healer herself? Should she... Mia! Sorbeth's voice interrupted her panicked train of thoughts. The green was starting to think that Mia was going to be more of a hindrance than a help. You have to came down. How can Elliwodth's be calm if you're not? She needs to be calm right now. So do you. Elliwodth has called someone. Keep your head.
Mia nodded, looking to her green for reassurance. And she was't the one in trouble! Oh emergency situations were not her forte! So she hovered about in case they needed her at all, not wanting to leave when she knew that someone was in pain and distress. Of course, when Arktos arrived she backed up to give the pair some space, assuming that he was Kiyoni's Weyrmate or someone close to her. She'd not want to get in the way, so she went to stand by Sorbeth's shoulder and leant into the dragon. Sorbeth's warmth was comforting and kept her from panicking any more than she already was.
You're hopeless, you know that. Don't fret, a healer comes, the dragon told her rider affectionately as she nuzzled Mia's shoulder. Then she lifted her head up and tracked Tess' progress across the bowl. It is Tesk's that comes.
Mia continued to hand about, shifting from one foot to another in her anxiousness and wishing she could be of more use. Of course, when she heard that Kiyoni may be pregnant, a maternal flutter calmed her a little and she smiled fondly at the thought of children. Then of course she remembered the present situation and was in a tizzy again. They were likely going to an examination room. "Can we be of any help?" she asked anxiously, Sorbeth dipping her head in agreement, then snorting at Mia to remind her calm her down a little more. Or could you tell Mia that everything will be fine so that she will calm down? the green voiced to Tess.

Tess blinked at the sound of another dragon in her head – she’d spoken often with Haseth, but she hadn’t realized how different each voice would sound. Or maybe it was associated with color? She’d have to look into it. In the meantime, she nodded to Kiyoni and stood, idly brushing off her thighs.
She sent a brief, soothing glance to Mia, but turned first to Arktos. “I’m afraid I do not quite trust myself to carry her to my examining room – would you mind? Try and keep her hips elevated a bit, if you can.”
Next she turned and stepped towards Mia, smiling gently. “You are help enough, to have arrived so quickly. But if you wouldn’t mind, would you please drop by the nearest store closet and bring me a vile of Lavender oil?” Tess found that in these sorts of cases a direct task generally inspired a sense of purpose and helped sooth nerves. She had Lavender oil, of course, but it was the sort of thing that would be stockpiled and kept readily on hand. And it would be useful, in any case.
Tesk? Please set out enough dried hops to make… she glanced again at Arktos perhaps two cups of tea. She felt Tesk scuttle happily about, eager at the thought of company and always pleased to be helpful. This would occupy her wher for quite some time, leaving Tess to focus on the issue at hand.

Arktos shifted uneasily from foot to foot as the Healer and Kiyoni spoke too quietly for him to hear. If Arkysk were here he'd know exactly what they were saying. To cover his nervousness and worry, he scratched Eliwodth's eyeridge with one hand while he patted Rivi with his other. Finally, when he thought he might go mad with worry, the Healer spoke to him.
"Of course," he replied simply. He knelt down to take his beloved in his arms, cradling her like a child. His eyes were full of worry at the pain he saw there and he tried to be as gentle as possible while still following the doctor's instructions, kissing her on the brow because he was at a loss for words. Then he made his way to the Infirmary as carefully as he could, waiting for instructions once they were finally there.
