___Weyrmate/lover: none
___Children: none
___Other: none
Physical Description:
(Reference: Hrithik Roshan)
At 5’4”, A’ren has always thought himself fairly short for a man, naturally slender of frame and hardened only by tending to his dragon and preparing for threadfall. He’s rather dark of complexion – dark enough to almost always avoid burning in the sun – with a high brow and gentle sloping features. His hair is a dark brown or even black, depending on who you ask about it, and he doesn’t care much either way as long as it’s just long enough to pull back out of his eyes and still short enough not to be a bother to keep clean. This length ends up to be about to his chin; it would be wavy and fall forward if he ever let it down, though there are about five pieces that continuously slip free and fall across his face, much to his vexation.
His eyes, an unusual shade blue-grey, are more often than not twinkling at some subtle jest or exchange of pleasantries; his lips are almost always curved into a quiet, inviting sort of half smile with a deep, soothing voice to match.
There’s a slight, three inch sliver of a scar crossing perpendicular to his left jaw line, four thread scars up his right arm, and one on the back of his left hand. While there is no scar on his left leg, he favors it a little and tends to hold his weight mostly on the right, adding to the relaxed appearance of his posture.
Personality: A’ren is and has always been an easy going fellow with no real temper of which to speak. He is incredibly difficult to offend and readily willing to forgive, humble almost to a fault. While he is both gracious and friendly, he tends to be a bit reserved, happily keeps his thoughts to himself, and avoids conflict like it’s some sort of flesh eating plague – this, especially paired with his trusting nature, sometimes allows unfavorable situations, unchecked and unchallenged, to spiral into utter disaster. Not that he’s a push over, per say, but really he’d rather just weather a push than push back.
As a sibling, a friend, and undoubtedly as a mate, A’ren is unwaveringly faithful, even if that means setting aside his own convictions to support those of whom he cares. Left to his own devices, though generally relaxed, A’ren has been known to be, on occasion, unnecessarily cautious. Despite this occasional excess in caution, his steadfast sense of calm and quiet resolve, even in the face of fear or pain, has always allowed him to ride successfully against thread. He is at heart, though he never completed his training, a Healer: ready and willing to help, almost impossible to rattle, and genuinely concerned for the welfare of his fellows.
History: A’ren was born in the usual way to a set of quiet, loving parents. As a child, he needed little discipline, but his father did not shy from dolling it out when necessary. He was not, perhaps, as active as other little boys, and was quite shy for quite some time - right up until he was too tall to hide behind his mother’s skirts. When he did finally step out from behind her skirts, he was utterly delighted by the prospect of making friends and has never shied from socializing since. Though he had many friends as a child, his strongest loyalties were always to his younger sister, Tess, whom he adored unconditionally from the moment she was born.
He was three days into 14 turns and on track to become a Healer when he was Searched and uprooted to Nova weyr. Once there, though pleased at the opportunity to meet new people and learn new things, Haseth pulled him from a growing sensation of misplacement and thoroughly restored his sense of self. It was, to put it briefly – and A’ren did – the best day of his life. And, he was certain, so it would remain.
Though a dedicated and attentive student, A’ren found himself badly wounded by the first thread he was permitted to fight, having become too engrossed in his dragon and failing to remain fully conscious of his own, separate body. Though it had taken quite some time and quite a few talented Healers to repair him, ultimately the wounds were not so very bad (thanks to some quick reflexive decisions on Haseth’s part), and so A’ren was left relatively well intact. This experience, as well as A’ren’s brief training under a Healer before his Searching, left him with a basic working knowledge of medicine and a renewed appreciation for the profession.
As the turns progressed and the novelty wore off, A’ren found himself sorely missing the second most important thing in his life (after Haseth, of course), that being his younger sister, Tess. Finding Tess equally disheartened at their lack of quality time since his Searching but fully dedicated to her own chosen profession as a Healer, the two discussed the possibility of her transfer to Nova as acting Weyrhealer, thereby allowing them an opportunity for regular contact. After meticulously preparing her resume, Tess sent in her application and was accepted (much to her relief but with no surprise to A’ren). The two now make a point of having lunch every four days, despite Tess’s endlessly busy schedule.

Dragon:
Name: Haseth (Blue - 236B8E )
Age: 14 turns
Size: 25 ½ feet
Physical Description: Haseth is a little on the small side, for a blue, but has just as much if not more stamina than the biggest of the blues. He prides himself on being able, if needed, to fly for 5/8ths of a threadfall rather than the usual half. He is a relatively light and, at least in A’ren’s opinion, quite a lovely shade of even steel blue. His eyeridges have a rather comical arch that suggest the continual appearance of surprise or, more likely in Haseth’s case, feigned innocence of some roguish prank. Though otherwise to scale, A’ren has always insisted that his tail is at least three inches longer than the average Blue.
Personality: Like his rider, Haseth is a fairly easy going guy. Unlike A’ren, however, he has a definite mischievous streak that is more often than not the cause for the twinkle in his rider’s eyes – he likes to laugh, likes others to laugh, and especially likes everyone to be laughing together, though this has not always been the case with some of his more impish shenanigans. Though he is, of course, entirely dedicated to his rider, he is also especially and unusually fond of his rider’s sister, Tess. Ultimately, he’s friendly and trusting and always, always means well.
