About you:
Name: Kendrall
Age: 33

About the character:
name: K'ain (Kalain)
pronunciation: Kayn
age: 46
rank: Brown Rider
gender: Male
orientation: Heterosexual
Family (name, age, rank, location, at least)
mother: Alaina, Lady Holder, Bitra Hold, deceased
father: Sifer, Lord Holder, Bitra Hold, deceased
sibling: Allana, younger sister, Bitra Hold, deceased; Sigomal, younger brother, deceased
weyrmate/lover: Chanirra, deceased
children: none
other: none
physical description: K'ain stands roughly six feet, one inch in height, yet his body type is roughly proportionate to his height; not too lean, not too heavy, but he's no slouch nor weakling, either. He keeps his body in trim fighting shape, evidenced by the well-toned muscles. His skin is somewhat pale, suggesting he hasn't spent a whole lot of time in the sun. Long strands of thick, dark brown hair, nearly jet black, cascade down to his shoulder blades but are often held in place by a simple clasp or wher-hide band, but a few strands are usually kept loose on purpose to help frame his oval-shaped face. Brown eyes peer from underneath shaped eyebrows, bisected by a stock nose under which are thin lips. Both of his earlobes are pierced with small yet thick silver hoops.
K'ain will typically favor black clothing or at times adorn himself with a fancy-looking, well-tailored cape that has varying shades of brown running through it in a diamond pattern, replete with a gold clasp. His clothes are never restrictive, however, to allow him freedom of movement.
personality: Arrogant, proud, demanding, deceiving, cunning, intelligent...these have all been words to describe the only son of and one-time heir to the lordship of Bitra Hold. K'ain has always viewed anyone beneath him with utter contempt and disgust, feeling that very few individuals could ever truly be his equal whether on the ground with a blade or in the air on dragonback. He knows that as a Rider, he had to give up his claim on the lordship to his only sister, something which at times he regrets. Many have said if the man had a heart, it couldn't possibly show any sort of warmth or compassion. On the contrary, he never showed any cruelty to his beloved Chanirra, always treating her like a princess and a lady, never raising a hand to strike her in anger nor raising his voice.
It was during the destruction of the northern continent was when his heart finally turned cold, first losing his mother and father, then his sister. He held on to one sliver of kindness in his attempt to rescue his beloved Chanirra, but was unable to hold on to her as she slipped out of his hand and plummeted to her demise. K'ain has never forgiven himself for this incident, and every so often he grieves alone. Yet there is one more element to him no one could have ever predicted: by learning how to time, as the result of a long jump between he has slowly grown insane and sadistic, most likely caused by timeshock. He is, to be quite certain, a walking time bomb, and it it quite certain he will go off at any moment, exposing any hapless victims in his immediate vicinity to his explosive wrath.
history: The eldest of three siblings, K'ain often resented the way his father resided over his subjects. Sifer was considered a pompous, whiny fool and had an extremely nasal sound to his voice. K'ain thought that a Lord Holder should act just so: keep your underlings and subordinates under your thumb at all times, be heavy-handed towards them, and extract all but the tiniest morsels for yourself. His education, however, was unparalleled and unmatched, quickly excelling well beyond his masters' expectations but strangely never opted to learn a craft or trade. He felt as if that were beneath him, but never could pass up the opportunity for a fencing match, and before long was considered one of the best swordsmen in the entire Hold.
K'ain was Searched at the age of sixteen, and being the eldest of three children meant he had to give up all claims on the lordship and pass it to his younger brother. He always resented his sibling for taking what should have been rightfully his, and after three Hatchings finally Impressed to a Brown named Joreth during his stay at Benden Weyr. No son of a Lord Holder, he thought, should Impress to anything less than a Bronze, but he had to take what he'd been given. Fortunately for K'ain, after receiving his Riders' knots displayed formidable ability over his Joreth, and was promoted to the rank of Wingleader. Also, his Joreth caught a Green dragon when she Rose, and the man fell in love with her Rider, Chanirra. K'ain treated Chanirra like she was royalty, often giving her the best of everything he had, and she returned his love, announcing to him that she had conceived a child.
Fate has a way of turning a man's fortunes into ruins, and it came calling for K'ain during one particular Pass when Thread threatened the Weyr and its allied Holds. Leading his wing into several large clumps, the winds shifted and Thread came right for them and for the rest of the Riders in his flight group. Many Riders were lost along with their Dragons, including his beloved Chanirra. Greived but raged, K'ain inadvertently led the survivors between...only to arrive 250 turns into the future. Benden Weyr had been long-since abandoned, as was his childhood home in ruins. Utterly shocked by what he had done and by the length he had spent between, K'ain started to lose his grip on sanity. Ordering the survivors to search for a new home, after several sevenday a scout returned back to the abandoned weyr to report there was a better hope of survival on the far Southern continent. The entire group headed south across the great sea, over the plains and mountains, over a vast desert, and into an long-extinct volcano near the south pole. The cold climate suited K'ain's mood perfectly, and wouldn't hear of any talk of dissension among the ranks.
For twenty years has K'ain and his band of survivors fought to eke out a living among the harsh polar conditions, losing many to cloudlung, others to time itself...and most of the Riders under his authority are nothing more than mere children, barely into their teens, riding smaller dragons from a Green's clutch that he refused to allow to chew firestone. He does not hold the belief dragons should not fight Thread, but rather dragons and their Riders should rule with an iron fist over their subjects, as a true Lord Holder would do so.

dragon name: Joreth (5C3317)
dragon age: 27 Turns
dragon size: 31 feet from head to tail
physical description: Joreth is an older Brown, his hide once a rich, deep chocolate brown has now faded slightly from age. However, this mighty Brown still posseses the same strength and musculature as he did when he first matured; broad at the shoulders and midsection, with a rather large wingspan.
personality: Joreth was once considered to be brave and honest, but his bonded's personality has dominated and twisted his own into a dark mirror of what it once was. Joreth does not hesistate to strike out at his foes and relishes the thrill of combat, often taunting and belittling his opponents and slowly tormenting them until they expire. He enjoys dealing in inflicting slow, intense pain, but is loathe to cross his Rider for fear he'll become the recipient of the same punishment.
