weyrlings straighten right up. He has a soft, friendly appearance to his face, so that everyone feels comfortable approaching him, especially the young ones. G’fal keeps himself clean shaven and
neatly dressed.
He has a small cut above his right eye from a fight with his older brother. He wears different shades of earthen colors at all times. G’fal prefers to wear leather knee-high boots. He carries a belt knife with him, bit has only ever used it while hunting. G’fal wears a leather necklace with a colored stone that one of his weyrlings made for him. He keeps a log of all his weyrlings and keeps track of their progress.
personality: G’fal is very easy-going. He has only ever lost his temper once. He loves being around young ones. That is why he loves being Weyrling Master. G’fal is usually very understanding, but he will not tolerate disobedience or rough housing when learning about dragonriding. This bronze rider enjoys being around people, but tends to go off by himself at times. In his spare time, G’fal likes to make things for the weyrlings. Sometimes he’ll make riding straps, other times a new belt. He’s quiet humorous and loved by his weyrlings. He’s very knowledgeable but doesn’t look down on others who may not know as much as he does.
history: Giafal was born as the middle child to Manfal and Gaisea. His older brother Asan always loved to pick on him, even though they were only 2 Turns apart.
Their younger sister Mansea was born 4 Turns later. Gaifal always watched over his little sister. He felt responsible for her and even protected the other youngsters from bullies. He had been like that since
day one.
Gaifal loved to watch his parents work. His father made beautiful clothes and his mother would add the finishing touches. Not to mention, she made the best shoes around. Or so Gaifal thought. Giafal started learning how to make simple things when he was 5. He even helped some of the other children sew up their clothes when they ripped them.
When he turned 10, his mother took him on as apprentice. There was no reason not to, considering he already knew more then half the other apprentices. His father still continued to show him how to make different outfits. Giafal loved every minute of his apprenticeship. He was soon making his own clothes and accessories and helping others learn as well. His parents couldn’t believe how fast he was learning.
During his 15th Turn, dragons came to South Sands Hold on Search. Giafal was intrigued by the mighty beasts, but never thought of being a dragonrider. He was quite content learning his parents’ trades. He was in shock when they said they wanted him to stand on the sands. To make matters even more surprising, Asan volunteered to help him pack. Giafal was soon to find out why Asan was being nice. By the time Giafal returned to the dragons, he had a black eye and a cut above his eye. His brother had been furious about Giafal being Searched.
Gaifal told his parents good-bye and was soon on his
way to Nova Weyr. Giafal was intrigued by the Weyr and was soon settling in. It didn’t take him long to befriend the other candidates and start showing them what he had learned from his parents. He also learned some things from them. He enjoyed the lessons with the Candidate Master and took everything to heart.
It was soon Hatching Day and Giafal was nervous as all get out. He worried that he wouldn’t Impress. Giafal stayed toward the back of the other candidates. He watched in awe as his friends started to Impress. He was in shock as he watched a bronze dragonet approach him. The brown introduced himself as Treoth. Giafal, now G’fal, collapsed to his knees with tears streaming down his face. He threw his arms around Treoth.
G’fal loved the following months. Learning about bonding with Treoth was the best thing he had ever done. He couldn’t believe he never wanted to be a dragonrider. He listened to everything the Weyrling Master said and tried his hardest to do everything right. He soon decided that he wanted to be a Weyrling Master when he got older.
When G’fal turned 20 he was appointed as the Wingsecond. He was another step closer to his goal of being Weyrling Master. He treated his wing like family even though he was only the second and did everything in his power to make them happy without over stepping his boundaries. He always hated seeing them argue. It brought up bad memories of fights with his brother. He still carried the scar with him from that day he was Searched. Not long after he managed to make wing second he heard that his mother and father had come down with cloudlung. The young man wanted to be there for his family, but they told him to stay away. They didn’t want to chance him catching it as well.
His parents died just days apart of each other and it took G’fal a while to get over it. He was in shock and Treoth found him crying quietly on more then one occasion. Although after some time he finally managed to get himself under control again and get back on task.
G’fal remained Wingsecond until his 23rd Turn. During this Turn he was appointed as assistant Weyrling Master. It wasn’t quite what he wanted, but it was definitely getting close. He loved being the assisant Weyrling Master. It just made him want to work harder at becoming Weyrling Master.
G’fal took his new assignment very seriously. He loved teaching the new weyrlings. Not only did he get to teach them about dragons, but he also got to show them how to mend their riding straps and clothes.
Once he became Weyrling Master when he was 30 he started keeping a log of the different weyrlings that he has taught. He hopes to be able to keep track of their progress.
G’fal hopes to keep his Weyrling Master position for a quite a while. He hopes the Weyrleaders sees it the same way. He does everything he can to make sure the weyrlings are trained properly and ready to ride actually fighting dragons. In his few months as Weyrling Master, he has never had any mishaps with his weyrlings. They all respect him and never disobey him
