About you:
name: Kendrall
e-mail: KMHazelton@gmail.com
age: 33
About the character:
name: J'sen (Jaysen)
pronunciation: Jə-sen (JAY-sen)
age: 18 (Late Spring, 5.20)
rank: Junior Bronze Weyrling
gender: Male
orientation: Heterosexual
Family (name, age, rank, location, at least)
mother: Madisen, 46 turns, Sr Journeywoman Healer, Azure Isle Hold
father: Jaylen, 53 turns, Master Fisherman, Azure Isle Hold
sibling: Sister, Madilyn, 12, Apprentice Healer, Azure Isle Hold; adoptive sister, Kiyoni, 23, Rider of Green Elliwodth
weyrmate/lover: Calyssa of Red Freyath
children: None
other: None
physical description: Standing at about six feet in height, this young fellow has sun-kissed bronze skin featuring a fairly built muscular torso. Not overly defined, but enough to prove very little fat or flab exists on his body. His arms, though long, are not skinny; but instead show the many turns spent at sea pulling rope and fishing nets. Large calloused hands with long fingers hang at the end of his arms, capable of delivering a solid handshake or a tight grip. His legs are also equally powerful, having to brace himself against the sheer pull of a net full of fish or at times rough seas. Fairly large feet allow him to cover extended distances without exerting too much effort.
Deep, intelligent brown eyes are set under heavy, but not overly bushy, eyebrows. His nose isn't too long, but would be just about right for a young man his age. His lips aren't chapped nor unnoticeable, but would invite a lucky lady (or two) to embrace them. Locks of wavy brown hair frame his face and spill down to about his shoulders, often stirring softly in the sea breeze. His chin is a bit broad, but doesn't possess any trace of stubble.
During the latest Hatching, he had the unfortunate mishap of having a yellow-bronze hatchling knocked right into him, lightly raking his chest in the process. The wounds will heal, but will leave light scars afterward.
personality: Jaysen is the type of who exhibits a love for the sea and has a sense of adventure, but is very respectful towards members of the opposite gender. Though he'll sometimes exhibit a bit of playfulness and mischief, overall he has the bearing of a young gentleman that any daughter's father would approve of. His sense of integrity is evident by his actions and words - not one time has he taken neither by force nor willingly a young lady's chasteness. Jaysen also has a bit of a protective streak - he has been known to stand up for his little sister, Madilyn, on several occasions; but instead of preferring violent means he is a master with words, his voice can either carry the fury of a violent hurricane or be as gentle as calm seas. Since this young man has spent so much time at sea with his father, he has developed a strong sense of tactical mastery and navigation.
However, Jaysen doesn't like to admit he's somewhat of a perfectionist and therefore is afraid to make mistakes. As a result, he won't always try anything new; his philosophy is "If it works the first time, there's no need to change how it's done," and "If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it." This perfectionist attitude has come from spending time at sea, as every task was required to be performed the same way to avoid capsizing the boat or a tragedy. Unfortunately, it's also reflected very strongly in his shore life; he'll typically avoid anything that may disrupt his otherwise structured life if at all possible.
history: Jaysen is the older of two children born to Jaylen and Madisen of Azure Isle Hold. He didn't cry much when he was a babe, often instead looking in wonder at the sea. This personality trait carried on into his childhood, and when he was old enough his father took him out on the water for the very first time. Azure Isle Hold was always small in population, so everyone practically knew everyone else. Like most boys, Jaysen knew how to swim at a very early age and when was old enough, his father took him on as an apprentice. Thus began his formal education involving discipline and a sense of order, yet it would prove to instill a sense of adventure in the lad.
In spite of this, Jaysen always had a bit of a playful and mischevious streak, often splashing his friends or the young ladies whenever they were too close to the shoreline. Yet he never did resort to violence much, unless it came to defending his little sister. There had been times he would intervene and inspire guilt in those whom were picking on Madilyn, and people within the Hold often compared his words to a stormy sea. Only once did someone try to goad Jaysen into a fight and wouldn't back off, which left him no other option but to use force. Instead of using his fists, Jaysen simply sidestepped his opponent's punch, grabbed the wrist and practically tossed him into the sea.
He flirted with a young woman on occasion during his teenage years, but never quite wanted to pursue things further. It was a matter of principle for him; he'd wanted to become an established fisherman and sailor first as the sea was his first love. The other matter to consider was the infrequent visits by Searchriders from Nova Weyr. Even though Jaysen had nothing but the utmost respect for the Riders and their dragons, he felt wasn't quite worthy enough to be in their presence. He'd figured there were others who would make better Candidates than he, and wasn't sure how he could balance his love for the sea with learning how to bond with a dragon.
Two fortunate events happened within two turns of each other; at sixteen he was rowing just off the coastline during one misty morning when he heard a commotion on a remote sandy beach. Jumping out of the water and dragging his boat to shore, he had to climb up the hill in order to investigate. What he found surprised him: there had been a clutch of firelizard eggs hidden just out of view, most of them already hatched. Except for one - a gold egg. Jaysen watched with anticipation yet found himself softly encouraging the egg, and within several moments a golden firelizard managed to escape from her shell. Immediately spying the young man and noticing his empathy, the young queen bound herself to him. Because of the weather conditions that morning, Jaysen decided to call his new pet "Misty." The other was when he turned eighteen, and his father tested the young man's knowledge of the sea and fishercraft before officially promoting him to Journeyman.
During the Hatching of Aylinth's clutch, Jaysen had the misfortune of being knocked over by a yellow-bronze hatchling named Amonth. He survived the blow, but now has several light scars on his chest from the impact. J'sen was surprised that he even managed to Impress at all, but wouldn't trade Amonth for anything.
Craft Information:
craft: Fishercraft
rank: Jr. Journeyman
speciality: None
If dragonrider:
dragon name: Bronze Amonth - CABD35
dragon age: 4 months
dragon size: At full adulthood, 37 feet in length
physical description: Amonth's color can best be described as a dull yellow-bronze. However, the sheen on his hide is quite significant, like a dark gold nugget. Spread across his body are sunbursts of a lighter, brighter bronze, some resembling a five-pointed star, while others are closer to Rukbat. He is only medium-sized in length (growing to 37 feet long) and build, but has long legs that put him among the larger bronzes in terms of height. His musculature is a mixture between bulk and leanness, having large hindquarters, but more lithe shoulders.
personality: Amonth's personality is perhaps as complex as a dragon's can be. As if he were indeed, two dragons merged into one, he seems to have two different sides to him. He is extremely mature in both aspects, carrying himself not with arrogance, but with confidence. On one hand he is quiet and wise beyond his Turns, able to see the truth of a situation and keenly aware of his rider's emotions. He is also creative, finding new ways to do things and adapting to make life easier on himself. While he is usually one to allow things to be on their own, he holds a fierce protective streak when he has been pushed. He is not quick to anger, but once he does finally reach his breaking point, his wrath is an explosive, but not violent, anger.

personality: Misty has proven to be a highly intelligent and helpful firelizard, if not a bit protective of her pet. She shares the same love of the sea as Jaysen, and can't resist diving into the nearest body of water either to grab the nearest fish or purely for play.
