"No, that's a good idea. I usually do a class on each color, and have riders and their dragons come and talk. As long as Coth doesn't mind being manhandled by a bunch of teenagers." He grinned. Some dragons were touchy about that, bigger colors more so. Arktos thought it was more the rider than the dragon though, if the rider got it into their head that their dragon was above such a thing, well the dragon often thought so too.
"We've got plenty of both weyrbred and holdbred. Some of them will probably find it old hat, but there's some new ones that haven't seen a dragon up close since their Searchdragon." Searchdragons were all small colors, so for them, a bronze would be a new experience.

"Coth's no longer the shy, reluctant hatchling he once was. I'm sure he won't be bothered in the slightest when the Candidates come pay him attention. Although I think he's already developed an affection for one in particular, but that's because of me." G'rett said, blushing a bit. "Probably would do him some good to be doing something else other than flight drills." He didn't need to mention Quindara by name specifically, but he knew Arktos would pick up on that tiny little fact. "As for the Candidates who've never seen a dragon up close since being Searched...shards, you probably remember my first experience in the class. Although neither of us knew then I would wind up Impressing to a Bronze. I was lucky enough to Impress the first time around." G'rett always considered himself very fortunate Coth had chosen him, although he wished it wouldn't have been quite as spectacular.
"Just let me know when you plan on having the class. I'll get with Q'del and Lady Cybele a day before to make sure Stardust isn't slated to fly drills to avoid a scheduling conflict."

Arktos smiled as G'rett began to ramble slightly concerning Coth's particular affection for a certain candidate. The Candidate Master thought that it was more the man that was obviously smitten, of course the dragon would pick up on it. "Your reaction was fairly typical for a Holdbred lad," he said, shrugging. "I was a bit overawed by my first good look at a dragon as well."
"Ill let you know. It'll be soon, since the Hatching is nearly upon us."

G'rett nodded, blushing slightly at the Candidate Master's knowing smile. "I can only imagine what will go through the Candidates' minds when they see Coth up close. But you're right, most of them are Holdbred and probably haven't seen a Bronze before." He shrugged. "First time for everything." He had to hold back a terse reply when it was mentioned the Hatching was close at hand, but kept his face carefully neutral. But he knew there wasn't much he could do if Quindara wound up carrying his child. "Just how close is the Hatching anyway?"

"They may as well get used to it now. By the looks of the Eggs I'd say a good number are large dragons. It'll be good for them to see what it looks like. And also, you might be able to disabuse some of their notions of how wonderful and glamorous it is to hold rank. They never believe me, apparently I don't count." Arktos supposed there was little glamor in being the Candidate Master.
"I would guess about two sevendays, or less, by how hot the Sands are. The shells are fairly hard." He saw a flash of annoyance cross the bronzerider's eyes and wondered about it. It took him a moment to realize that he must be afraid for Quindara. It would be a terrible shame if she was with child. Arktos tried very hard to to think about what might have happened that night, there was no reason to, it would only cause pain.

Chuckling at the suggestion of him convincing a bunch of Candidates that rank wasn't everything, G'rett simply nodded. "I don't know if they'll believe me either, in spite of being promoted. But I'll certainly give it my best shot. But if the Hatching isn't far off, and there'll be some large dragonets, then it wouldn't hurt at all for the Candidates to see a fully grown Bronze up close. Think we could hold the class in a few days or so? I'll see what I can do to get the flight schedule worked out in the meantime."

"I think three days will be fine. Right now we're having the 'what impressing certain colors means for my sex life' discussion," he said with an amused grin. It was a little bit fun to shake up conservative holdbred children by politely informing them that that unless they are a girl who Impresses gold, there was always a chance that they could end up in bed with someone of their own gender. Arktos himself had never had that happen when he was a rider, which, he admitted, he was glad for. But it was a risk he had accepted. And of course, now that never would happen. The mating run of a watch wher was not as emotionally strong, and the handler could, if they chose, ignore the emotions that came from it, much like a firelizard flight.

G'rett groaned inwardly and buried his face in his hand. He remembered all-too-well that particular class. Shaking his head, he lowered his hand so he could look at Arktos again, then cleared his throat. "I'll talk to the Weyrwoman and to Q'del so I can help with the lesson. I may have to swap with one of the other wings, but I'm sure it won't be too much of an issue." Like Arktos, G'rett never wound up in bed with another man so far. He considered himself lucky up to this point, but had no idea how he or Quindara would react if that particular situation arose.
