M'lym hadn't been feeling his usual self lately. He had been doing his best to keep it to himself during the Hatching, but now it was apparent that he wasn't feeling his usual self. Still, protocol dictated he attend the Hatching Feast, and he dressed for the occasion appropriately. Once he entered into the Dining Cavern, he stopped by the head table to pay his respects to the Weyr Leadership, then brightened a little when he saw Meera sitting by herself. A tickle in his throat prompted him to raise a fist to his mouth and he coughed lightly into it, then offered a smile to his fellow Rider as he sat down.
G'rett had likewise dressed appropriately, now clad in a long-sleeved black tunic with billowing sleeves that narrowed at the wrists. Black trews and his high riding boots completed the ensemble, with a deep bronze-colored sash tied at the belt. It lent him a bit of a seafaring air, something which Quindara would hopefully appreciate. Once he caught sight of his lover waiting for him, he offered her a kiss on her lips then held out his arm for her to take, then he would escort the redhaired woman to the seat next to his. It was a privilege of rank, really; even though Quindara was now a Senior Weyrling with the new class of Junior Weyrlings now present, G'rett's status as Wingleader of Stardust allowed him to offer the seat next to his to whomever he chose. And that offer would be extended to Quindara.
C'olt had already made his way to the Dining Cavern, dressed in a vibrant green tunic and matching vest paired with black trews and high riding boots. He had already offered the chair to his left for his fellow Healer and lover Lyrensa, and now Kia was waddling over towards them. C'olt rose from his seat and gave Kia a warm smile, then pulled back the chair to his right. He really didn't want to be far from either of them, and he sincerely hoped since that stunt he pulled in the Infirmary a while back would actually bind the three of them even closer together.
J'sen waved at Calyssa as she made her way in, and he nodded appreciatively at his lover. He rose to his feet, and greeted the girl with a kiss on her cheek. He himself was dressed in a long-sleeved tunic and breeches, bronze and black, to echo the colors of his own Amonth. Misty was perched on his shoulder, and she trilled with delight upon seeing Storm. "You look radiant," J'sen whispered in Calyssa's ear, helping her into the seat next to his.
C'pher made his way to the Dining Cavern, clad in a shimmering blue tunic and dark trews, complete with riding boots. The Searchrider had heard there was something going around the Weyr, and he sincerely hoped whatever it was wouldn't affect him nor his Blue. He also silently prayed it wouldn't affect Kikikaa, and he wasn't sure how he would be able to move forward if anything happened to the Assistant Weyrling Master. He recalled fondly how the woman had filled the hole in his heart after that rescue mission in the South Polar Regions, losing his original lover who'd mattered to him. Kikikaa now held that place in his heart, and he would do what he had to in order to stay at her side.
B'ren smoothly slid next to Tanly, eyeing the Green Rider and greeting her with a kiss on her lips. He'd heard how C'olt had dressed, and he chose to echo that same outfit, only in shades of brown. B'ren wasn't one to be outdone by anybody, the flamboyant Healer included; but the Scoundrel had a healthy respect for his fellow Rider. "Shall we, love?" he asked Tanly, offering his arm to her.
M'cai, meanwhile, had to take his time getting dressed for the feast. Some of the other male Weyrlings offered to help him with his tunic; a shiny black material that covered him from neck to waist, the fabric ending just shy of his wrists. It billowed at the upper arms only to narrow at the wrists. Black breeches continued the theme down to his ankles, and finally a pair of riding boots to finish the look. It wasn't his best, he knew, but it was all he really had. The only contrast visible was piping at the wrists, a grayish-colored material to offset the seeming lack of color. His right forearm was still in a sling, but overall he seemed to be in a fairly good mood. Upon entering the Dining Cavern, he let out a low whistle as he entered. Off to one side was Kikaya, and the Harper gave her a friendly nod of his head followed by a smile. But that wasn't whom he was looking for. He was wondering where Tara was, so he could escort her to her seat.

Meera smiled when she saw M'lym and waved. She frowned when he coughed. He had seemed different during the Hatching and she wondered why. "M'lym? You alright baby?" she asked as he sat down. Maybe it was nothing to worry about, but one never knew.
Calyssa smiled when J'sen came up to her. He sure was looking handsome. The weyrling couldn't help herself. She turned her head to kiss him properly. She was never going to get over her fear otherwise. Storm trilled happily from Calyssa's shoulder. "Thank you. you look quite striking yourself," she smiled, hugging him. He had been so great to her.
Kia carefully took the offered seat that C'olt pulled out. The young blue rider was really feeling tired that evening. And Lucky was nowhere to be seen. It wasn't like her little green to be missing. She returned C'olt's smile and nodded at Lyrensa.
Tanly grinned at her mate. She hid a chuckle as she studied his outfit. Leave it to her mate to want to stand out in a crowd. Well, she loved him anyway. She leaned into her kiss. "Yes, let's," she said, taking his hand. She was feeling a bit tired, but she was planning on enjoying herself.

~*~*~ ((To C'pher))
Kikikaa wandered into the Dining Cavern after the new Weyrlings, having made sure that they were all settled and would at least show up for a few moments of the feast to be acknowledged by everyone. Some dragonets were fussy about letting their new lifemates leave their sides in the first several marks after Hatching. Treasure and Trouble flitted along behind her, bright contrasts to the silvery blue, long-sleeved, floor-length gown that fit closely but not so closely that it revealed every one of her curves, long hair left loose for once to fall in raven waves to her thighs. She looked about for C'pher and smiled once she saw him. Making her way over to him, she touched his shoulder before trouble could give her away. "You're lookin' handsome tonight," she said with a teasing smile. Her fondness had definitely grown for the bluerider, much faster than she had thought possible with how many men she had slept with on Peronith's countless mating flights.
~*~*~
Kanretia smiled when she heard the voice of her oldest son. She could never miss his voice because he was the loudest of her boys. She waved at the three that headed her way, noticing her flirtatious son detour toward a group of girls with amusement. She was not dressed to Impress anyone in her bright green dress with darker green trimming. She was just there to celebrate her boys' Impressions and all the Impressions of the Candidates that she had helped teach along with those that Impressed surprisingly. Intrigue cheeped merrily and darted off to pick at the hair piece in M'kan's hair happily. Shinnies....
~*~*~ ((To Any Lady rider of Equinox Wing))
K'mik wandered into the Dining Cavern with his greenriding brother, clad in his usual dark blue tunic and black pants and wearing a merry smile that leaned toward flirtatious at times. Eventually finding himself a seat next to one of the ladies of his wing, he gave her a cheery grin of amusement before looking about at all the new Weyrlings wandering in and the two riders of the two dragons that had lain the clutches that the dragonets had come from.
~*~*~ ((To Any Rider of Nadir Wing))
K'kaar grinned as he and his brother entered the Dining Cavern. He had dressed in his usual vibrant attire, bright green and short-sleeved on this occasion with slightly darker wherhide pants. Following his brownriding brother through the crown, he eventually split off to find Nadir Wing's table, sitting down with a wild grin that said the night was not going to be boring in the least.
~*~*~ ((To Kikaya, R'il))
M'cal finally made it to the Dining Cavern, dressed in sandy tans and browns with bead work about the trim of the long-sleeved tunic. Spying his sister, he headed her direction, his ultimate destination the table that Z'zak and El'dan would occupy. He still only truly trusted some of the riders that had been with him under K'ain's iron rule. Seeing R'il just sitting down, he headed for the table and pulled up a seat next to his greenrider friend, giving him a genuinely friendly smile. "Smile a little, R'il. No one's gonna mess with ya' here," he said cheerily to hopefully make his friend feel a little more at ease in the crowd already gathered and still growing. Hearing his sister's voice in the din of the crowd, he smiled and pointed out the pair moving toward them. "That's my older sister, Micala. She just Impressed today," he added to R'il, waving at the two girls cheerily. This was certainly a reason to celebrate and he was going to celebrate Kikaya's Impression at some point tonight, too.
Micala smiled at her sister's comment. "Thank you! And you look great, too!" she said as she returned the hug. She giggled somewhat when she heard that Ralith already wanted to meet her little green. "As soon as we're allowed, I'll get her properly introduced to Courageth." When her sister pulled her away, she willing followed her sister's lead, knowing that she was going to meet someone from the southern Weyr. Looking in the direction she was being pulled, she smiled even more. "Look! M'cal's over there!" she said, pointing. Today was just wonderful! Mikay trilled merrily and flitted after her Pet, zipping ahead to greet the bluerider cheerily before her Pet made it there.
~*~*~ ((To Meera))
"Great Hatching, huh?" E'lon said merrily, hanging about a moment to see if his father would show up. He wanted to see his father's face at such a merry event. After a few moments, a few of his classmates waved him over to their table, so he left Meera with a cheery wave. "See ya', Meera! Say hi to my father for me, please?" he said before wandering off through the crowd to sit among the other Weyrlings.
~*~*~ ((To Tesni))
Sanrev chuckled at Tesni's words and gave her a kiss on the cheek, not quite comfortable enough to go much further in the public eye just yet. Slow and steady was working just fine for him. "I doubt you'll have any worries. Not too many really know me around here," he said with a smile, following her to the table and taking the offered seat. He did not take any wine, leaving it sit for the moment. He was not quite in the mood for it just yet.
~*~*~ ((To Cybele))
T'dol nodded with another smile, bordering on sympathetic but he was willing to accept any consequences that his parents threw at him. Cybele deserved as much of a backing as he could give her. Now he could explain how he really wanted to be. Besides, his father was still young and one or two of his brothers could manage to take over the Hold when his father finally retired. There was plenty of time to sort them out for the duty. "I wouldn't have it any other way," he said, holding the Search token that he had been given up with a smile. "A dragon before Integrith knew I was destined for him. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time," he added, tucking the token away again. He would need it later on to argue with his parents, well more his father than anything. Giving the Weyrwoman a respectful bow, he smiled and said, "Please let me help with my father's temper later," in parting. "Have a wonderful evening, Lady Cybele."
~*~*~ ((To Ranelli, R'vis, Shem, G'lar))
T'dol smiled sincerely at Ranelli, a look in his eyes proving that he still cared for her despite her walking out on him so suddenly a few months back. "I am on the same level as you, now, Lady Ranelli. I'm not above you anymore," he assured her, touching his new knots for emphasis before turning his cheery smile to the others and taking a seat at the table and to the other side of G'lar. "I'm T'dol of brown Integrith. Who did you Impress to?"
To Shemmoral's introduction, T'dol gave her another grand smile, thoroughly enjoying his new life that had just begun. "It's wonderful to meet you, Shemmoral of Hematith. I'll be glad to be working alongside you for the next turn and a half," he said cheerily.
Turning to R'vis' introduction, T'dol smiled again. "Wonderful! I hope we all do well in our training," he said, undeterred by the fact that bronze dragons ranked above brown dragons. It made no difference to the former Heir. He was thankful for the change of lifestyle he was swiftly undergoing.

((To Ellimae, Bilteran, and Dolia))
Finally, Lord Hiltaris saw his eldest son enter the Cavern. How else would he have not noticed? Tardol's Impression, to a brown, was highly confusing and quite disagreeable. He knew that his son had a rebellious streak, but he thought that it had only resided in the games that the young man participated in. He also knew of the fancy that Tardol had for Ranelli and he could see that reason as to why he had left the Stands, a Stands Impression far from his mind about the ordeal. He stood up, but as his son moved further within the Cavern, it was clear that his destination was that of the head table and the Weyrwoman. Perhaps, he was discussing the very thing that he was so upset over? He could not hear anything that was said, but did happen to notice his son show the Weyrwoman something. Just what had that been? Sitting back down with a huff, he decided that after the official business was out of the way, he would track down the Weyrwoman and his son and discuss this matter thoroughly. He was not leaving this Weyr without getting answers.
~*~*~ ((To Bresala and Viarnie))
Veekally nodded to Viarnie's question with a smile. "Carneliath didn't wanna go to sleep, but she fell asleep when we tried countin' to a hundred." She shifted more comfortably in her seat, hoping that they would be eating soon, because she was quite hungry. All the fussing today over her little red and her arm had left her with only a few snacks in her stomach since Impression. Her evergreen gaze shifted to Bresala, another Weyrling that had gotten injured on the Sands. "How're you feelin'?" she asked of the other girl, a soft smile of friendship on her lips.
D'kal grinned at Viarnie's inquiry and answered after his sister did. "Perserveth wasn't tired for the longest time an' I swear he figured out every square inch of our new room." His blue had been tired but he had not wanted to give into it and he was pretty sure that was why it took so long for the dragonet to go to sleep. He could remember his brother and cousin trying to keep themselves awake as long as possible and Perserveth had reminded him of those times.
K'lar chuckled. "Lazulith was amusing! Took him a while, but he did go to sleep for me." He grinned at the girls and anyone else that came near before turning to look at Bresala. "Does it hurt much still?" he asked, a smile still gracing his lips, but a sincere look in his dark eyes.
~*~*~ ((To Randy))
V'zee smiled and kissed his mate before moving his hand and wrapping an arm around the handler's waist. "Le's go enjoy a feast an' congratulate some new riders. Soon we'll be congratulatin' some new handlers, too," he said, extending a reprimanding thought to his firelizard to tell the blue to let Ransk be and to follow along. With a rebellious squawk, Vikki obeyed and left the red wher alone to chase after his Pet and see what lie in store for him.
Once they had reached the Dining Cavern, V'zee escorted his Lover to the seat next to his and waited for her to sit before sitting himself. He would congratulate the new Weyrlings later when the dancing and festivities began after all the proper details had been taken care of.
~*~*~ ((To Kanly, El'dan, any other Rebel Riders))
Z'zak looked up at his blueriding friend and gave him a genuine smile. It was nice to be free, though he was certain that he was still being watched. He did not care though, because he was free to enjoy flying and wandering again. Naturally, some limits were in place, but having the vastness of a Weyr to wander about in was exactly what he had been longing for since the ill-fated jump ahead 250 turns. At El'dan's congratulations, the brownrider smiled even more, obvious pride in his dragon easily noted. "Thanks, but most of the congrats go to Kanly for bein' so strong throughout it all," he said, his eyes drifting toward the redrider who looked ready to run away and hide again. When he saw her get up, he smiled a fatherly sort of smile. She was coming around to making some decisions on her own instead of waiting for someone to make them for her. When she sat down across from him, he gave her another smile. "It's always kinda odd bein' the center of attention up there. Glad you decided to come down, Lady Kanly," he said to her, voice full of respect for her on several levels that only he and Nocheth knew of.

(To E'lon)
Meera nodded. "It was nice talking you, E'lon. And I will make sure to tell him." She shook her head. The boy left just before his father arrived. Had that been planned? She wasn't sure, but she wasn't going to ask.
****
(To V'zee)
Randy smiled up at her mate. She could see that he was thrilled about having another little one as she had been. She nodded. "I know. I wonder what colors will be in Ransk's clutch. Especially since a black caught her." She couldn't wait to see her beloved wher's hatching. She giggled as Vikki finally left Ransk alone. The wher snorted and went back to sleep for a bit longer.
The young woman followed her mate to the Dining Cavern. She sat down beside him and watched everyone. When he chose to go congratulate everyone then she would make sure she went with him.
****
(To G'lar, Ranelli, T'dol, Shem)
R'vis smiled at T'dol. "Well, I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better," the boy said. Although he was surprised by his words. It seemed like since he had befriended Shem he was more out going. He grinned over at the aforementioned girl. He couldn't wait to spend more time with her and Hematith.
****
(To K'lar, Veekally, D'kar)
Bresala nodded in understanding. Garneth hadn't been real thrilled to go to sleep. Although once Bresala had promised to let the red meet more tomorrow she settled down. The girl blushed and looked down. She wasn't used to others worrying about her. "Still a bit sore," she whispered. "I know it hurts to smile." She felt bad for even mentioning that when Veekally was worse off.
Viarnie was all smiles. "Peridoth wanted to talk to everyone," the girl laughed. "I couldn't get her to sleep. I think she finally just talked herself to sleep." She could see that Peridoth was going to be a social butterfly. Of course that was fine with her. She loved meeting new people.
***
(To, R'il, M'cal, Micala)
Kikaya returned M'cai's nod. She would make a point of checking on him in a bit. And finding N'huel again. Maybe she could get a dance out of the Harper. That would be great. She grinned. "Then by all means, let's go." Kikaya hurried over with her sister. "Hey, R'il," she said, before turning to her brother. "Did you finally pull yourself away from the pretty girl I saw you with earlier?" she teased him, wondering if he would ask Dessa to dance.
****
(To Kanly, Z'zak)
El'dan smiled. "You're very right. Kanly has come a long way since coming here." The blue rider was so glad to see the young red rider doing better. And he could see in Z'zak's eyes that his friend was just as happy. He smiled when Kanly joined them. "Good hatching, Lady Kanly. You must be proud of your lovely red."

Shemmoral hardly even seemed to notice that she'd taken Ranelli off guard. She was, however, delighted that the silver weyrling didn't take offense to her comment, and a bright grin spread easily across her face. "It's wonderful, isn't it?" Practically glowing at being next to her best friend and meeting all these new people, the girl's enthusiasm nonetheless died down a little when more and more weyrlings began flocking over to their table.
Of course, she was thrilled when T'dol commented that it was wonderful to meet her. "And you!" she chirped, smiling. Leaning back in her seat, she let the others talk as they would, deciding that now was the time to fade into the background a little. Still, at R'vis' comment she flashed him a bright grin. He hadn't seemed like he would say that kind of thing back when she first met him, so she was proud of him. And he was grinning back at her, so she laughed and nodded brightly. Already she was excited for the Feast to end, just so that maybe she could walk back to the barracks with him and talk a little on the way. And at the end of that journey, there was Hematith! Although the Hatching felt like it had hardly even ended, Shem already felt like her grey had been in her life forever. How, she wondered, could she have survived so long without her bonded dragon?
R'il had half been hoping to avoid notice, although he liked being around the other rebel riders more than the normal riders of Nova Weyr. He still wasn't sure what to make of them, or his relatively new status as a rider, not a servant or dog.
Of course, he'd just sat down, and this was about when M'cal landed on one side of him. Startled, R'il twisted to see who had arrived, and then smiled a little wanly at the bluerider's lighthearted comment, but nodded. "I know." He did, too. Nobody had messed with him at all here at Nova, and yet still he expected someone to pop out of nowhere and tell him to go haul firestone or something. It was a nice change, but he still wasn't used to it.
"Good for her! What did she Impress?" he inquired quietly. "Hi, Kikaya," he added when he realized that his second friend was now speaking to him. It was reassuring to have people he trusted around; knowing he was safe with them, R'il did relax. He didn't make any effort to be really social, of course, but at least there was a little smile on his face now, instead of a half-panicked expression.
Sandwiched in between Kikaya and M'cal, R'il flicked his gaze to the girl that had arrived with his female friend. That had to be Micala; he offered her a small smile and a soft hello before looking to the bluerider, seeing what his response to his sister's teasing might be.

Ranelli found it a little awkwards around Tardol... T'dol (it would take her a long time to remember that he was now a dragonrider with an honoured name.) Not only was it awkward due to the past relationship she had been pushed into.. but also because of her mixed feelings. She'd left the young lad of the morning of their wedding and had barely spoken to him since. It wasn't that detail that made it awkward, it was that she didn't know how to take him... his cool ways, and how he just appeared to accept it happened and still pursue her.. ...she wondered what type of rumours were running around the holders in this hall, her abandonment of the wedding was no little secret, and the fact that she, had Tardol had now impressed? how would this impact the weyr? As is betraying her thoughts, Ranelli's eyes lifted from the little group around them and looked at the many groups of holders and crafters around the hall, wondering what exactly they were saying. Finally, her eyes rested on the weyrwoman and Ranelli tried to gauge the woman's feelings from her appearences..

Lyrensa was feeling awfully cranky today, which wasn't terribly abnormal. She was seven months into her pregnancy and she felt like a whale. Her back hurt, her feet hurt, and she felt like she constantly had to pee. Dressing for the Hatching Feast was an ordeal, she could hardly put on her shoes because her belly was in the way, and in her opinion, nothing looked good on her. But finally she chose a simple draped gown that was the same blue washed gray as Brigith's hide, and pulled her hair off her face with a runner's tail. Fariah and Radko chittered at her to hurry, and after giving her sleeping dragon a pat, she lumbered awkwardly out to the feast.
C'olt was waiting for her, looking devilishly handsome as always. Sharding man. If she hadn't fallen for his pretty face, she wouldn't be in this position. Lyrensa uncharitably wished him all sorts of uncomfortable maladies, but of course, she sat in the chair he offered her and smiled at him. However grumpy she was feeling towards him, for whatever reason, she couldn't refuse that face. Kia sat down next to them, looking just as ungainly as she did, and she smiled at knowing smile at the other woman. Her stomach growled at the smell of all the food and she turned her eyes to the head table. Cybele was standing, preparing to speak.
********
Now that pretty much everyone had arrived, the Weyrwoman knew it was time she addressed them. Normally she had no problem with that sort of thing, but it was such an odd and awful situation, she wasn't sure there were words for it. And T'dol was such a good- natured lad, though the fact Thad he'd been Searched previously was sobering. She stood, trusting her instincts to guide her as they had many times in the past. "Good evening everyone. Today has been an exciting and surprising day for all of us and I'm sure you're all hungry. However, I just wanted to say a few words before we begin. As the Pass is scheduled to start in a few short months, it is more important than ever that Pern remain united, so that when are ancient foe appears again, we'll be ready. Our newest class of weyrlings will never really know the peace that we've enjoyed, so they will need our support and encouragement. Let's all raise a toast to the 27 newest dragon riders of Pern. Congratulations to them all." After draining the rest of her glass, she sat down heavily in her chair, gesturing to the servers to bring out the food.
*********
Quindara made her way over to sit by G'rett, glad for the opportunity, since weyrlings often had separate meals from the rest of the weyr. "What did you think of that Hatching? Another silver and two blacks. And there reds! If all four of them clutch we'll be up to our ears in dragons," she said, laughing. "I suppose that's good, with the Pass about to start." Cybele had told her that many dragons would be lost, especially at first. But it was difficult to think about, especially when G'rett and Coth were involved. She laid her hand lightly on his knee. She had no doubt they would be careful, but it was still a frightening idea.
***********
Tesni grinned, happily accepting the kiss on the cheek before sitting down next to him. It was nice just to have someone to sit next to thus Feast. "Well, I can hardly believe that. But I, glad I won't have to fight. The Weyrwoman was fairly displeased at the fistfight during the last Hatching Feast."
She listened to the speech, it wasn't quite as good as some of the others the Weyrwoman had made, but Cybele was clearly stressed. More importantly, the end of the speech meant time for food, and she was starving.

The thought of thread returning was a sobering one indeed. She'd never been around for thread, but it was no secret the dangers that it caused, there were plenty of ballads and stories to strike fear into a person about threadfall, and although she knew dragon's and their rider's rose to meet it in the skies, and sceer it from the sky as it fell, she'd never really considered the impact that it had on the dragons and riders themselves, she, guessed that as a holder she probably took that for granted, but even now.. she couldn't really begin to imagine what those long hard turns of thread fighting would be like... ...would it really be as horrible as the ballads suggested? Thread was a very uncharted territory for the young silver rider.. and she really couldn't help but wonder, what would it be like?
V'lain's full attention was on the weyrwoman, as it should be at such a time, and the black rider would show his respect to his leader by giving her speech his full attention. It was a serious speech, one that did strike worry in his bones. How would he and Osirith fair again that acident foe? How would the weyr do? He remained quiet after Cybele had spoken and returned to her seat, thinking over what she had said. With thread due in a few mere months, he really needed to work harder in his and Osirith's training sessions, to ensure that they would be ready to meet it, when thread fell.
