Micala was startled awake for more than a few reasons. She had not slept well and nerves were finally taking over. She had lain awake nearly half of the night. Mikay had been acting funny lately, too, and she had begun to wonder if that maybe the little gray was finally ready to Rise. So when she finally managed some shut eye around dawn, the wake up call was not welcome and it took her clean until she had drudged through a quick bath and donned her robe that something in her head finally clicked. That and the factor that Mikay was humming quite loudly and unusually perched on her shoulder instead of zipping around. Wait a flicker. Eggs, humming, dragonets, bare feet, white robe...Hatching! With that, the young Runner suddenly had plenty of energy and hastened her step to the Common Room. There, she took what had been handed her and ate the few morsels quickly, downing her mug of klah shortly after and soon she was in a line heading for the Sands and a possible lifemate, finishing tossing her long hair into a doubled-up plait...
Once on the Sands, she did not shift from foot to foot as much as the others, but stepped as lightly as she could. The sand may be quite hot, but her boots were quite thin-soled and so she had been used to the heat since she had been allowed to touch the eggs. After all, South Sands was near a desert. The ground she usually covered was usually sun beaten and quite warm, some days hot. So the minor irritation that she felt on the soles of her bare feet was pushed from her thoughts as she bowed to the queen, Mikay teetering on her shoulder before a thought from the young Runner sent her to join the fair of firelizards perched randomly about the Caverns. She could not screw up her chances at a dragonet. Green hazel eyes sought out her brother and sister and hopefully her parents that had been requested since she was Standing. Finding the small group, her smile was less nervous as her eyes drifted back to the rocking eggs in time to see the big black break out of his shell.
She managed well, trying her hardest to think comforting thoughts, as the dragonets hatched and began to Impress. When Tara was run over by a green, she suddenly felt nervous. Now what? Could that happen to her? Oh, those scratches looked nasty. When she saw a dark gray that reminded her of her lovely little Mikay, her nervousness dissipated somewhat and she smiled as she watched the gray, feeling something akin to when Mikay tickled her mind with merriness. Was it that gray? Or was it another dragonet currently in sight or about to hatch? She received her answer moments later when a green she had not foreseen bumped into her, knocking her off balance and landing in an ungraceful seat on the hot sands. Looking up quickly to figure out just what had happened, she looked into a set of rainbow eyes set into a vibrantly shaded green face.
My Micala! I didn't see you there! Will you take your Courageth to eat, and then can we explore this place? I think it must be exciting! The young green nuzzled her fallen lifemate excitedly before nosing at her to get up quicker. Micala chuckled to herself as she managed to find her feet with Courageth's help. Courageth. Such a sweet name, she thought to herself. Yes, it is! I'm hungry! Can we go now? The Runner chuckled again and said aloud, "Yes, Courageth. This way," and she led her new lifemate toward the meat bowls as nothing else mattered save for her newfound dragonet.
Courageth's devouring had paused mid chew as she let out a keen for sister that had gone Between, but she was quickly back at her cheeriness, tail twitching in excitement at what awaited her once she had finished eating. Mikay's cheerful trill moments later was welcomed excitedly by the newborn green and she took a bite of meat before trying to catch the little Cousin happily. Micala smiled as she realized that her firelizard would not be causing a problem with her dragonet. Her world was complete now. She had her brother and sister back and she had a dragon...

Veekally woke quickly to the chaos surrounding the girl's barracks. Just what was going on? Dark eyes darted around her little room before her tenseness switched quickly to excitement. Kanretia was waking them all with urgency and she was pretty sure that she had heard the word 'hatching' somewhere in the callings. Oh! The dragonets were coming! In a flurry, she grabbed her bathing supplies and rushed to the bathing pools, dunking herself quickly, the coolness of the water hardly phasing her. She had bathed in colder before. Rushing from her bath with golden ringlets leaving a trail of water in her wake, she hurried to get into her Hatching Robe, the fanciest bit of clothing she owned aside from her dress that remained tucked away for special occasions. While hurrying toward the Common Room, she fought the tangles of her long hair into some sort of runnertail-like plait, securing it all with her hair clip about halfway down the length, the rest left to sort itself out into the usual tangles. Taking the offered food and klah, she found herself a place out of the way as she wolfed down the morsels that she had been given with more than the usual haste. She still had not gotten used to tasting the food that she was given, her mind still thinking that it could be days before the next meal.
Then they were heading to the Sands, padding along quietly behind another girl and giving her brother an encouraging look before they set foot onto the hot sands. The burning was far from the formerly Holdless girl's mind as the soles of her feet were quite tough from her couple of turns of traveling. Bowing with the rest of the Candidates, the blonde's evergreen gaze scanned the rocking eggs quickly, noting cracks on several of them already. When the black cracked shell, her excitement was suddenly turned to nervousness as the moment finally caught up with her rushing. This was it. She would either walk from these Sands a dragonrider or UnImpressed. She glanced nervously toward her brother. She had never felt like this before!
The second black to hatch only made her more nervous as she had been passed over by several of the dragonets already and he was mean. She sure did not want to get in his way. Ever. Then there was the horrible sounds of keening. That is what she guessed it to be as a little gray just up and winked Between. Veekally sobered slightly and some of the nervousness left her as she looked for her brother, finding him still Standing without harm or dragon yet. At least he looked a little better composed than she was.
Finally the long awaited egg cracked open to reveal the silver dragonet. Veekally knew that she could never be worthy of such an elegant creature and so she only gave the beauty a moment's attention before hopefully looking for another dragonet that was coming her way. She saw two...and they were coming toward her so quickly that she had not the time to move more than a step from where she had been, her arms going up in front of her in hopeful protection. Her breath left her lungs as she felt the solid connection of damp hide against her body and her feet left the ground only to find herself in a daze a brief moment later with numbing pain shooting throughout her right arm and shoulder.
Through the haze of uncertainty at hands suddenly touching her and voices echoing in her head while she sat awkwardly on the hot sand, she noticed the large red blur of one of the two dragonets getting larger. Her swimming vision cleared just a moment before another voice, stronger than all the others, filled her head. Oh it is you, My Veekally. I'm sure Aventurinth is sorry she ran into you. But your Carneliath will keep you entertained while you get well. "My Veekally?" she echoed as her pained arm was held at an awkward angle before a sharp pain followed by relief caused her to grit her teeth and close her eyes. Whether she was too prideful to cry out at the pain or still stunned from the collision, no one would know, but the Healers backed away except for one as the blonde sat there and opened her eyes to look at the dragonet again.
The big red nuzzled her lifemate's chest with a croon. Are you alright, Veekally-Mine? Veekally's expression turned from confused to happy as she realized exactly what had just happened. "Oh! Yes, I'll be okay," she said as she reached up with her left hand to touch the damp hide. "What happened?" she asked, glancing toward the Healer closest to her, wrapping the splint. She would get cleaned up later. After being told of the tumble, she turned and smiled at the dragonet again. Since they seemed to be done, she got to her knees and hugged the dragonet the best she could with one arm. "Carneliath, right?" she questioned, getting a mental confirmation of satisfaction and love. A few moments later, she was on her feet again and leading her new lifemate toward the meat tables, a grin that far surpassed the pain that her arm was in.

Shemmoral, now that she had nothing better to do than sit with her newly bonded grey, had her eyes fixed on Ravis. He was still standing there, looking so lonely as just two dragonets remained on the sands. Staring as hard as she could, as if that could make one of the remaining hatchlings pick him, the weyrling didn't realize she was leaning forward until Hematith nudged her with a foreleg. You look ridiculous, the grey chided. He will Impress, or he will not. It is not your choice to make.
That was true, but the new greyrider still hesitated to digest the truth. Reluctantly, she settled back against the wall - and then scrambled to her knees with a cheer as her friend threw his arms around the neck of the beautiful bronze. She would have gone all the way to her feet, but a stab of pain shot up her leg from the gash there and the weyrling had to sit back down, waiting for the boy to come to her. As soon as he had a bucket of meat, Shem grinned and watched him approach. "Ravis! Or - I guess you're R'vis now, aren't you? - good job! I knew you'd Impress! It's our destiny to explore Pern!" she cried. Hematith, at her side, warbled with mild amusement at her rider's antics. Sitting there on the ground, the girl beamed with excitement she couldn't contain. "He's gorgeous! What's his name? Oh, R'vis! You got a bronze! A bronze!"
Absolutely over the moons with delight, Shem clapped her hands until Hematith's mind prodded hers again. MineOwn. Just that term reminded the weyrling that she was being unseemly, and she deflated only reluctantly. Still, her bubbling enthusiasm was still apparent in the way she laughed, green eyes sparkling with joy. He'd done it! They'd both done it! They'd Impressed, and they were weyrlings now! Maybe not riders yet... but they would be! As soon as their dragons were big enough to ride, they would ride them, and then after graduation they could explore all of Pern - just as she'd planned in her head!

Dankal woke quickly at all the ruckus early in the morning in the barracks. It did not take him long to figure out that the Hatching was at hand and he was among the first few lads into the bathing pools where he quickly scrubbed up and quickly got out, getting dried off and into the robe that he had been given. White was horribly not his favorite color, but it was in far better condition than the rest of his clothing. Pushing his wet curls into a bushy runnertail, he padded barefoot to the Common Room, freeing his hands of his damp hair just in time to take the proffered food and drink. Finding his sister, he gave her a wide grin before he dove into the food bits on his plate, washing it all down with the warm klah. That sure hit the spot!
Finally upon the Sands amid the cheering of the crowd already there, the young lad bowed with the rest of his classmates and his evergreen gaze swept over the eggs rocking away before him, shifting his weight lightly between each foot to fend off the heat of the Sands. With the breaking of the first shell, he watched the black curiously, having little of the nervousness that his sister currently held. He was excited about the outcome of this event and hoping to walk from these hot sands a dragonrider.
Watching eggs crack shell and dragonets spill into view, Dankal did not feel more or less nervous, but he grew ever more excited at each dragonet that passed by him. One of these little creatures had to be for him, just had to be. Even though the temperamental black was quite angry about something, he was still not as wary of him as he aught to be. Wandering on your own for two turns gives you a good bit of strength against fear. Then there was the horrible keen of the dragons when the gray went Between. The poor thing. Whomever her lifemate had been was not among them if he recalled his Lessons correctly.
It was not the little silver that hatched that made Dankal move from where he stood, but that of two dragonets heading quickly toward his sister. Seeing her knocked down, he winced and started moving toward her, hoping that she was okay, his call for her name drowned out by all of the noise of the humming and the crowds and the dragonets. She sat up and he rested a little easier, especially when he realized that the red dragonet had picked his sister. Finally, she had something more than himself, Siala, and Tanya to care for.
Looking around, he realized that there only a few eggs left and the hopes of the current brown to be the one for him, but it was not to be as the next blue to crack shell had wearily wobbled his way over to him and nudged his knee. My D'kal, your Perserveth is so tired and hungry. But I had to keep going to find you. With a broad smile at the funny sound of a dragon's voice in his head, Dankal knelt down to give the very dark blue a hug. "I'll feed you and care for you until my very last breath," he said happily, tears of joy that he had not felt in such a long time escaping his dark eyes. Standing up with a furlong wide grin, he led his new lifemate toward the others to get him fed so that he could rest. This was the perfect end to today!

Kanlar woke so quickly at Arktos' calls that he fell from his cot, tangled in the furs and for a moment, remained still with his backside in the air and his face burrowed in his fur. That could have hurt had he hit the floor instead. Sitting up as he put the humming and Arktos' words into an order that made sense, he grinned and stared across the small room at his oldest brother, Mikan. After a brief moment, he grinned and said, "Hatching!" before launching over his cot to get to his trunk and grab his robe, a towel, and bathing items before his brother had the chance. At Mikan's comment, he grinned and dashed after the taller GlassSmith. "Yer on!" he replied, somehow managing the bathing pools before his brother, but he did not succeed in beating him to the Common Room because his robe had been inside out. Thanks to Arktos' keen eyes, he quickly righted it before dashing after his brother again, ultimately losing the little competition by only a few steps. Taking the food and klah given to him, he followed his brother, sticking his tongue out in a brotherly fashion before quickly eating up what he had been given.
Following Arktos' lead to the Sands, he could not help but glance around at everyone present, giving them all excited grins as if his smile alone might ease the nerves that everyone either hid or showed openly. Stepping onto the Sands, he did not react as much as his oldest brother, but he did shift his weight to his toes as much as possible so that the heat would not be too much on his bare soles. After bowing to the dragons and their riders, he grinned at his fellow Candidates again before checking the Stands for his father, spotting him soon with the rest of his family as his mother joined them.
As the dragonets began to spill forth, it was a dark blue one that wandered toward the group of brothers, Kanlar trying to comfort his younger brother who looked quite sick still. It was not until the second youngest GlassSmith lad turned to check out the newly hatched dragonets that he might have missed, he was almost surprised to see the blue so close. "Maybe he's yours, Laret," he said hopefully only to watch the little one step closer to himself and to here a voice in his head much clearer than that of his mother's dragon. K'lar, I am Your Lazulith. We will always be true to one another, won't we? K'lar? Wait a flicker! "Lazulith!" he said cheerily, kneeling down to look at the blue closer and to touch him. "Yeah, we'll always be true to each other," he added in response, grinning at his brothers before escorting his new lifemate from the Sands. This was just wonderful!

R'vis was beaming as he walked back with Pyrith at his side. The bronze held his head high and the boy chuckled. "I know!" he exclaimed when he saw Shem. "We both did! I don't believe it!" He knelt by Shem and fed his bronze.
Pyrith crooned happily as he ate the meat that his rider gave him. "His name is Pyrith. What's your beautiful gray's name?" he asked, looking over at the gray who was sitting beside Shem.

Tialar woke to not only Arktos' calls throughout the boy's side of the barracks, but also to the loud humming and fluttering of Pip about the room he shared with his youngest brother. Since Pip had already begun the wake up call, he was not nearly as surprised as his other two brothers were. "Laret, c'mon!" he said cheerily, hurrying to gather his bathing items, a towel, and his robe. It was not until he had put the robe on and had been heading for the Common Room that nervousness began to affect him, a sort of excited, yet worried sort of nervousness. He took the food and klah and managed to get the klah down, but only the fruit, the meatrolls not looking very good to him at that moment in time.
As they stepped onto the Sands, Tialar winced from the heat on the bottoms of his feet, hoping that this would go quickly enough that he would not have burns on his feet, too. He was used to them on his hands. That was something that came from GlassSmithing. Nervousness started to overtake excitement as he bowed to the proper folk and dragons, then glanced toward his mother to see her heading into the Stands and spotting his father. That settled his nerves a little bit.
Tialar watched quietly, his excitement dimmed by nervousness after seeing how pale his youngest brother looked. When the blue came over to them, he quickly tried to think happy and welcoming thoughts. Sure he had wanted a brown, but he would be happy with any dragon that chose him as worthy enough to be their lifemate. When the blue moved to Kanlar, he smiled broadly. His younger brother had Impressed!
After Kanlar had left, Tialar had watched a few more dragonets wandering around and hatching, glancing at his youngest brother every few moments to make sure that he was okay. It was on one of these concerned glances that he felt a tug at his robe and turned quickly back to see what had happened, finding himself staring into a pair of swirling rainbow eyes against a face of nearly the same colors. Oh, Tia'ar-Mine! I couldn't find you and I was afraid! But now that you have your Opalth, can you feed him? A smile lit the GlassSmith's face as he bent down to help steady the youngster before answering him, his happy thoughts suddenly more happy than he could ever recall. "Let's get you fed and settled in," he said cheerily, rubbing a damp headknob before looking at his two remaining brothers. "His name's Opalth," he beamed before leading his new lifemate toward the meat tables.

Oddly familiar-looking eggs invaded Laret's pleasant dream of flying through the clouds atop a dragon and as his dream brought him to the ground, so did the eggs' images, rocking and hatching to reveal dragonets of numerous colors. Then the humming took over and Laret realized that he was not dreaming. These images were coming from Pip as he buzzed about the room that he slept in, humming loudly in cheer. Through the din of images and humming and happy thoughts of his little blue came Arktos' words along with Tialar's and he was suddenly rushing to follow his older brother. He could not miss this. Not at all! With an armful of robe, towel, and washing items, he chased his brother to the bathing pools, trying to hurry when he usually did not, Pip zipping along wildly behind him, still humming loudly. Following Tialar from the bathing pools, he was only a step or two behind him as they reached the Common Room with moments to spare. With Pip's excitement and the general buzz of haste, nervousness, and excitement, Laret had mixed feelings about this, but he accepted the food and klah and followed Tialar toward his other brothers, trying to get down some of the food.
Pip mellowed somewhat as Laret followed the others, the young GlassSmith's nervousness growing as he waited to see the eggs. As Arktos paused by the doors to the Sands, his stomach began to churn and his face lost its color as the full bout of nervousness hit him. Could he really do this? Stepping foot onto the Sands resulted in a hasty retreat to toss up his breakfast without being seen. He was not a weyr brat. He was not used to THAT many folk at once. Pip warbled worriedly for his Pet while he finished heaving, then tried to comfort him as someone gently nudged him onto the Sands. Still pale and stomach still horribly upset, the lad hurried to catch up with the others and bowed nervously with them before trying to just concentrate on the eggs. Maybe then he would not be so nervous?
Gazing at the eggs while trying to suppress his stomach from causing another upchuck, the youngest brother watched a blue approach them, wondering who he would be going to. It would be nice if he could Impress and get off these Sands sooner than later. Then Kanlar spoke a dragon's name and he knew that the blue had gone to his older brother. Suddenly, he felt sick again and tried to focus on another dragonet. Just focus. If there was anything left in his stomach, then he needed to keep it down. Tialar had a white dragonet fall at his feet and Laret barely heard the dragon's name as he averted his gaze from other dragonets to see his brother walking away with the dragonet. A weak smile touched his face at Mikan's silent encouragement and he turned back to the activity all around them. The black made Laret worry even more and he had even started to retreat somewhat from the dragonets milling about the Sands. This just was not working out in the least! Pip encouraged his Pet to stay, but the sad keen the little one emitted made the lad's stomach churn again.
Still trying to focus on anything other than his stomach, Laret found himself distracted by a brown investigating numerous things about the Sands, his eyes a cheery blue. Then the coppery brown danced his way over to the remaining Candidates and the young GlassSmith felt a sort of longing for him. Happy was good. He liked happy better than anything else. Then he was chasing the tail of a green who in turn was chasing his tail and Laret actually smiled more brightly as if his upset stomach was merely a figment of his imagination. Then he, trotted straight up to him and looked up at him. Your Cupreth is excited to finally meet you L'ret. I'm really hungry, but after you feed me we should do something fun. Suddenly his stomach ache was a familiar feeling of hunger and the lad beamed as he gave the little brown a hug of excitement. "His name's Cupreth, Mikan!" he told his brother excitedly before turning back to the dragonet and grinning again. "Let's get you fed!" he said excitedly, leading the brown off the Sands happily. All that nervousness for nothing!

Mikan tumbled out of bed at Arktos' calls, the humming one reason, and the other reason being that he was having quite the splendid dream involving a young lady he had met recently. What more could a guy ask for? Sitting up quickly and looking around with a 'did anyone see that?' look on his face, the eldest GlassSmith brother grinned when he realized that his younger brother, Kanlar, had fallen out of his cot, too, in the room they shared. After staring at his brother a moment, something in his head clicked at his brother's singly-phrased word of 'Hatching', he grinned a mischievous grin before getting up quickly and falling over his cot again to beat his brother to gathering his bathing items. "Last one to the Common Room mucks the other's stall," he said cheerily as he snatched up his robe, a towel, a cloth, and a small satchel of soapsand, then dashed for the bathing pools. Making it to the Common Room just a few steps ahead of his brother, the triumphant grin on his face was enough of a gloat that words need not be said as he took some food and klah and ate it quicker than usual, excited about the upcoming hatching in a mere few moments.
Following Arktos to the Sands in line amidst his brothers and the other boys, amused at some of their expressions. Whether he Impressed or not, he had won his little competition with his brother and so, he was quite the happy lad stepping out onto those....HOT sands! He tip-toed to the best of his ability as they formed their semi-circle and tried to stand still long enough to bow to the dragons and riders that were due their attention before returning to shifting his weight as much as possible to avoid any burns. He knew the Sands were hot, but he had not anticipated them to be this hot. Looking to the Stands quickly, his scans brought him to his mother moving through the crowd toward his father and he smiled as everything was currently in order for him.
Eggs began to crack and dragonets began to show from their gooey depths and Mikan watched with hope that one would come his way, more than excited when he saw a blue heading straight in his general direction. He was somewhat upset that the blue had not come to him, but he was happy that he had gone to at least one of the four of them. They were starting off well! Then a white nearly fell into Tialar and the result just moments later was his brother Impressing to a white dragonet named Opalth. He grinned at his brother and gave Laret a cheery smile of encouragement. The hatching of the angry black was enough to mellow Mikan's mood even further. He sure hoped that the temperamental dragonet was not for him. He was not sure how to deal with anger like that! Then a gray went Between and he looked around at all the keens and his brother quickly. Laret seemed okay, if not more pale than he had been. Mikan's smile broadened a few short moments later as he saw the playful brown walk up to his youngest brother and then saw the rainbow eyes that told of Impression. He failed to notice that he was the last of the four of them Standing on the Sands as he looked expectantly at the remaining dragonets and unbroken eggs.
As some more chaos ensued after the hatching of the long awaited silver, Mikan began to realize that his chances of Impression were beginning to dwindle. His dark brown eyes began to seek out and watch every dragonet other than the silver. He knew that the silvers were among the golds and so they would not choose him at all. He winced as the green and red's game turned into a collision into one of the newer Candidates and was relieved to see her sit up once the dust had settled. It was shortly after that little fiasco that the oldest GlassSmith brother heard a voice in his head, Your Iocolith thinks we should get out of here before one of us gets broken, my M'kan. and he quickly looked around, his dark eyes falling on the pale blue dragonet and a huge smile touching his features as he met the rainbow gaze and thoughts of hunger and love and decision entered his worried mind. With a chuckle, he grinned again and placed a hand on the pale headknobs. "That sounds like a really good idea, my Iocolith!" HIS dragon!

K'kaar woke to a very loud humming in his head only to realize just moments later that it belonged to his lovely Gemith, up earlier than usual, he thought. Grinning, he hurriedly got dressed in his best wherhides of bright greens and blues with a splash of yellow and orange to his tunic, then he was quickly strapping up Gemith and grabbing a rolled hide that resided on his table or on his person for the last several days, waiting for that moment that the humming began. He returned with his last set of pickups just in time to see the eggs rocking, ready to crack. This was it! The black hatching first was an odd sight, but he supposed that it could be a good omen. Spotting Ravis, he kept a closer eye on the Trader lad, hoping that Gemith was right in her decision to Search him. When the lad walked from the Sands with a bronze, he beamed even more, Gemith echoing her triumph with a merry bugle when her rider told her that her only Search so far had Impressed. The biggest shock of the Hatching was the Impression of the Heir to Nova Hold and K'kaar wondered just what that was going to cause with the Weyr/Hold relations. ~*~*~ K'mik woke to Haydeth's humming and Pup licking his face. Pushing the canine off his chest gently, but firmly, he sat up and rubbed his face. It took him another few moments to figure out that the loud humming was also coming from his dark brown and he looked at the long dragon curiously. A few silent thoughts drifted between them before K'mik started moving into action, donning his flight gear in order to get his pickups out of the way before attending the Hatching himself. After dropping Pup off at the kennels, he got his list done quickly as Haydeth was never one to dally any, he made it to the Hatching in time for the Candidates to step out onto the Sands. He cheered with the rest of the weyrfolk and visitors as he found his way to an open seat and sat down to watch the show. Haydeth settled in the darkest corner he could find to watch quietly. The Impression of Ranelli was no big deal but the Impression of Tardol was a shock and K'mik nearly fell from his seat at that one. Oh, no! What was that going to cause?! ~*~*~ Kikikaa had already been up, getting a head start on things, unknowing that the eggs were about to give out their warnings, so when Peronith started up her humming along with Treasure and Trouble zipping off to investigate the Sands, the Assistant WeyrlingMaster quickly headed for the barracks to wake the older Weyrlings that had not woken yet. Their dragonets would not want to miss any of this. Finally making her way to the Stands, she glanced around for a certain bluerider before spotting him and heading to sit with him. Once the first couple of dragonets Impressed, she would have to leave him to help G'fal with the newly Impressed in the feeding and care of their newborns. She was somewhat surprised but thankful that Ranelli came to them with the silver at her side, but she had not a word when she noticed Tardol coming toward them with a brown next to him. As if Nova Hold had enough ridicule after Ranelli's flee from the wedding... ~*~*~ M'cal woke to an odd sound: humming. After several long moments, even his fussy blue started to hum and it was then that the young rider realized just what was going on. Quickly, the bluerider got dressed and headed toward the Sands to see a real Hatching take place. This was well worth it. Lukath found a perch somewhere where the little blue could have some space and also be able to keep a close eye on his rider after he had dropped off M'cal's parents and his rider. M'cal settled in a seat nearby his sister and El'dan, his parents finding places nearby as well, having already spotted the big sandy bulk of Nocheth nearby Chrysoberyth on the Sands. ~*~*~ V'zee had been up for a while, but was taking his time since he did not have a Drill scheduled until the next day and so Kyanath's humming was not surprising, Vikki picking it up quickly afterward. He knew that his little bronze would announce the eggs rocking as soon as he got wind and that was for certain as he heard Randy's voice above the deep, excited tone of his bronze. He had one pickup in South Sands Hold for the grand event. Throwing his straps onto his bronze quickly, he paused long enough to give his Lover a kiss. "I'll be right there. Gotta pick up in South Sands real quick," he told her. Once the trip was done, he managed to find the red wherhandler in the Stands and took a seat next to her, Kyanath finding himself a spot somewhere among the other dragons. ~*~*~ Kyler was woken by the humming of her young green as well as an unusual excitement from the normally reserved olive-toned green. That and Sunil's excited zipping about and random disappearances, only to return mere moments later with images. It did not take her long to realize exactly what was going on and then she was rushing to get ready to make it to the Stands on time. She knew that once the humming began, it could be quite quickly for the eggs to start hatching. She managed to find a seat near her brownriding older brother once he had finished his ferrying duties. Watching the Hatching from the Stands as a rider was something that she had only dreamed of before and now she was watching the faces of the Candidates change from excited or nervous to pleased and happy despite all the chaos that was going on. She was actually quite surprised at Tardol's Impression at the end considering she knew his face well, having hailed from Nova herself. ~*~*~ C'nell woke to the humming throughout the Weyr, a sound that he knew well and always anticipated as well as enjoyed what followed it. The last time had been his own chance at Impression and he had succeeded, now happily bonded with Manwydath. Speaking of his young blue...The young Weyrling opened his eyes to see the whirling blue of his dragonet's less than a hand's breadth from his face. More Littles like me come soon! was the quickly spoken words in his head as he started slightly from the nearness of his dragonet. With a smile, the lad grinned and got up. "Let's get going, then!" he said excitedly as he hurried around to get dressed for the special event. Making it to the Stands, he waved at his mother out on the Sands before finding himself a seat in the Stands somewhere. ~*~*~ EEEEE'LLLLLON!!!! was the excited wake up call thundering through E'lon's head to get him out of bed. The young Weyrling all but fell out of bed at the loudness of it all, broken by a loud humming sound on top of it. LITTLES COME!!! LITTLES COME!!! said the grassy green as she pranced around their small room, alternating between humming and shouting excitedly at Hers. HURRY!!!! E'lon stumbled to his chest to get some clothes on, holding a hand to his head, though he knew that nothing would block out the sweet sound of his dragonet's voice, nor would he ever want to. "Okay, okay, a little less shouting, Danuth, please," he pleaded with her as he nearly fell trying to dress himself. Somehow, he managed to make it to the Sands, though a headache had resulted from Danuth's extreme excitement and the loud humming throughout the Weyr. He found a seat in the Stands by his father, giving the bronzerider a smile. He knew the significance of Tardol's Impression after all the other chaos of the Hatching. ~*~*~ A Hatching was one thing that Sanrev could never sleep through, but he did not have to. He had been settling Sanresk for the day when he heard the first of the hums, soon to echo throughout the Weyr by every other dragon, young and old. Even Sanresk hummed a little, albeit sleepily. Unlike his rider, he was ready for bed, plus the light hurt his eyes. So, Sanrev settled his brown, while keeping Neek from diving at his head, then headed for the Stands. With any luck, he would find Tesni before the eggs started breaking. Waving down the blueriding dragonhealer, he sent Neek to draw her attention, giving her a smile when she looked his way. After all was said and done after the shocking final Impression, he turned to her and asked if she would like an escort to the Feast later on. He was going to catch a nap before then so that he could be awake enough for her.

Shemmoral was practically exploding with excitement. Oh, joy! They were both weyrlings now! She had her grey, her Hematith, and R'vis had his bronze, and the sheer wonder of the situation nearly made her pop. Still, the new grey weyrling managed to restrain herself - barely - and she leaned forward on her knees as R'vis knelt and fed his new lifemate. "Me neither! Well, I do, but I don't! It's really most peculiar. But marvelous! Really, really marvelous. I'm so glad, R'vis!" she squealed, and at her side, the grey heaved a sigh and settled onto her belly. Obviously Hers wasn't to be contained at this moment, although Shem was fighting her very hardest not to shriek with delight.
"Pyrith! Hello, Pyrith!" Shem repeated, grinning. He really was a lovely bronze...! Of course, all dragonets were lovely, but of course that didn't factor into her calculations. Not at all. "She's Hematith!" the new greyrider chirped, although she was sure she'd said that before. Maybe she was going crazy. Either way, she didn't mind; she grinned cheerily at her best friend and sat back against the wall again. Next to her, Hematith lay her head quietly on her paws, watching her bronze sibling with mild interest and little more. He is respectable, she informed Hers at length, and Shem grinned. Of course he is, Hematith! He's bonded to R'vis! I'm sure he's wonderful. But not as wonderful as you, she added, and reached out a hand streaked with dried blood to scratch her dragonet's headknobs. If I am wonderful, my Shemmoral, it is because I intend to uphold all of my duties to this Weyr. As should you, and Pyrith and His as well.

Pyrith continued to eat his meat. Although it was obvious that he knew he was a bronze. He sat tall and proud, although R'vis had to laugh when the bronze caught sight of his tail and started to chase it. "Have you ever seen a dragon do that?" he asked cheerily. He didn't think dragons had playful sides like that. Although he hoped his lovely bronze never lost it.
The bronze looked up with whirling eyes. I like her. And Hematith, Pyrith said, looking up at his rider while flicking his tail. R'vis grinned at his friend. "Hematith is lovely," he said. "And Pyrith says to tell you hi. Can you believe that we might actually get to go exploring like we talked?" he asked cheerily as Trig cheeped. He still found it hard to believe that he had Impressed.

C'olt was busy with patching up the other Weyrlings who'd suffered injuries during this Hatching, and failed to pay attention to whom was Impressing to which colors. That would be resolved later. Once the final pair made their way off the Sands, C'olt breathed a sigh of relief, then looked over at the Healer's Station to see how Lyrensa was faring, then up into the Stands to look for Kia. There would be plenty of time to chat and revel with the two ladies at the Hatching Feast, but first he needed to get cleaned up and dressed appropriately. After regaining his strength and a nap, of course.
All the while C'pher, M'lym, G'rett, B'ren, and J'sen watched as each dragonet Impressed to their respective Riders. Their eyes widened in horror as a Candidate tried to interfere with the Hatching, and went down on the Sands, his forearm clearly broken. A dragonet failed to Impress and went between, its death cry echoed by the other dragons. Everything seemed to progress rapidly beyond that point. A White dragon Hatched and Impressed to Luna, the girl C'olt had befriended and kept in isolation. Lirona Impressed to a Green; a girl in the Stands Impressed; and finally, a Silver dragonet Hatched and seemed to weigh her options carefully before settling on her chosen Rider. When it was all over, G'rett simply hugged his weyrmate-to-be and gave her a kiss on the cheek, knowing her time as a Weyrling would soon come to an end. C'pher grinned and gave Lirona a thumbs-up when she walked by with her new Green Hatchling; B'ren simply smirked when he realized he should have started a round of betting on whom would Impress to which colors, if there would be a Black or a Silver or even another Gold in the clutch, and so forth. M'lym simply nodded and smiled at Meera, and offered his hand to take her to the Dining Cavern.
J'sen simply smiled and held out his hand to Calyssa. "Come on. Let's get something to eat."
Mordecai, meanwhile, was starting to come around again when he felt several hands on him, then his eyes widened as he looked directly into the eyes of a dragonet. A Black dragonet. And its eyes were quickly shifting from red to yellow, then to green, and finally multi-prismatic. But the Harper would have never guessed what he heard in his head no sooner than those eyes turned into a multitude of colors. I am sorry to have caused you pain, my M'cai. But your Obsidiath cannot allow others to interfere with our plans. We are meant to lead. Lifting his head up a bit, Mordecai's jaw dropped. Was he hearing things? Or did this Black dragonet just now speak to him? Well, it wasn't exactly speech...but the words seem to come to him. If he could describe it, the dragonet - Obsidiath - sounded as if he had a dark, twisted sense of humor. Not exactly what he had expected from a Black, but it was rather fitting in an odd fashion. And what was this about being meant to lead?
The Apprentice Healers were now helping him to his feet, his forearm now wrapped tightly in gauze and held in place by a sling. Mordecai merely shot Obsidiath a rueful look and shook his head. He wasn't sure if he should openly voice his opinion, but he could always try to mentally form the words, to see if this Hatchling could pick up on his mood... You're certainly a handful, Obsidiath. Why you chose me after breaking my arm is beyond my understanding. And what sort of plans are you referring to?
Obsidiath merely looked up at his newly-bonded companion. Many, many plans, my M'cai. Many great plans indeed. Plans within plans. All of which shall be revealed in time. I chose you because we are meant to lead, and together we shall prevail over all. Now come, your Obsidiath is hungry. The Harper sighed and shook his head. I don't know about this leadership business, Obsidiath, nor what plans you may have for us. Let's just agree to work together from this point. Turning to glance over his shoulder, Mordecai (he was still getting used to being referred to as "M'cai") caught sight of Tara and her newly-bonded Green, then up into the Stands at Kikaya. Obsidiath noticed this, and his eyes shifted to a slight yellowish-green and narrowed. Mine, why do you look at them? Do you know them? Do you find yourself drawn to them? M'cai blushed when his Hatchling queried him in this fashion, and he found himself blushing. It's a long story, Obsidiath. But yes, I know them both. Tara - that's the girl who Impressed to a Green - is a good friend of mine. Kikaya - she was a Rider from another Weyr, but recently came to Nova - I've gotten to know over the past several weeks. She rides a Gray. The Black dragonet looked around his bonded and narrowed his eyes as if to study Tara and her Green, then looked up at Kikaya in similar fashion before focusing his attention on the Harper, and merely snorted in interest. M'cai wasn't sure what to make of it, but he sincerely hoped Obisidiath wasn't starting to get any ideas.
"Come on, Obsidiath. Let's get you something to eat."

Shemmoral's laugh echoed with that of R'vis as Pyrith began to scamper in circles, chasing his own tail. She grinned; next to her Hematith snorted and lay her head on grey paws, apparently refusing now to associate with her undignified sibling. "Nope!" the weyrling commented, chuckling. It was a rather funny sight, especially considering that her own dragon was lying here completely refusing to partake in the fun.
"Oh! Isn't she?" the grey weyrling agreed, pleased. Rather than forwarding her message through R'vis, however, she swung her gaze to Pyrith with a bright smile, clearly accepting his greeting. She really was glad to meet him, but that was almost certainly because her best friend had Impressed him. Nobody else's dragon could compare to their own dragons. "Of course I can!" Shem exclaimed, hardly able to believe that R'vis could have had any doubt in the matter at all. "Just a Turn and a half, and then we'll be free to explore as much as we want!"

Pyrith fell over when he caught his tail. He looked up at R'vis proudly. The boy laughed and knelt by his dragon. He couldn't believe how playful his bronze was.
He looked over at Shem. "I bet that time will fly though," he said, all smiles. He was happy for both of them. Pyrith didn't even seem to notice that Hemitath was watching him. The bronze was having too much fun.
