K'kaar smiled. "Well, after your quarantine, there's lots of hard work, but being a rider is hard work for the first several months. You gotta bathe and oil and feed your dragonet several times. Sometimes it feels like that's all you ever do, but it's worth it. Candidate training just gets you ready for all the work involved with having a dragon of your own. Once they've grown, they eat less often and don't need bathed and oiled as much. I think you'll do well, though. Gemith doesn't Search often, so her picking you outta the crowd is a pretty good sign," the greenrider said cheerily as the Barracks came within view of them.

Ravis listened quietly. It sounded like there would be a lot of work, but he was used to that anyhow. He had worked hard when he was a beast crafter and he still did with the Traders. The boy nodded. "I'm not afraid of hard work," he assured the green rider. Although he would have to be careful of his hand. He wasn't ready for everyone to know about his little disability. Although he had a bad feeling he would have to tell the Candidate Master. He smiled at Gemith. "Then I am doubly honored to be Searched."

K’kaar grinned at Ravis’ response, happy that the lad still seemed enthusiastic, even with the sevenday in quarantine that all new folk to the Weyr had to go through expected. Gemith also crooned at the lad’s answer, happy that he seemed glad to have been Searched. Upon reaching the Candidate Barracks, K’kaar stopped to knock on the door to get a hopeful answer from within. If not, he would have to track down Kanretia through their dragons to get Ravis started through the process. “This is where we part ways for a few moments, then I’ll take you to the infirmary where the quarantine is. After that, I’ll hope to see you around the Weyr and even on the Sands to Impress your own dragon once eggs start to hatch,” he said cheerfully to Ravis.
