Tesni nodded and took the plate of food, setting in on the counter. "Well, you haven't eaten for a couple of days. Your stomach probably shrank a bit. It's better not to push yourself. Now, I'll get you that numbweed." She turned away and rummaged in the drawers of the counter behind her. Itzal and Indra began scavenging from the remains of Sanrev's dinner. Tesni noticed after a moment and shooed them away, telling them they'd soon be too fat to fly. They squawked angrily before perching themselves in a corner. Tesni turned back to Sanrev with a smile, holding a jar of smelly ointment in her hand.
"Do you want to put it on, or will you let me?"

The guardsman quietly watched the Healer rummage, keen eyes catching her firelizards in their winnings while their Pet was busy. The little creatures were good for many things. Neek had been quite the helper, and still was, when memories caught up with Sanrev once in a blue moon.
Silently asking his wher to get down off the cot, the tall dark brown obeyed quickly, moving smoothly to place himself next to bed, but giving his Handler some room as the guardsman slowly moved his legs to the side of the cot. Looking up at Tesni again, he studied her briefly before deciding that he would accept her help this once. After all, it did hurt to move quite a bit. "Do I have a choice?" he asked a bit breathlessly from his movements.

"Well, I would say you always have a choice in a sense, because I have a philosophical sort of mind, but in this case I think you'd better just let me do it. I can tell by your voice that you're in pain. Do you think you can get your tunic over your head? Don't want to get numbweed all over it." Although in truth he proably needed a clean one anyway, he'd been wearing it when he was brought to the infirmary.
Tesni rinsed her hands in redwort solution. Not only would this disnifect her hands, but it would protect her from the effects of numbweed. She wanted Sanrev to go numb, not herself. Then she opened the jar of the gooey pungent paste, the smell strong enough to make her eyes tear a little. Turning to Sanrev she asked, "Ready for me?"

Sanrev smirked slightly. She was a good Healer, saying that there was a choice, but the end result would be the same. And like most good Healers, she had a knack for reading a person's emotions enough to help her do her job. Glancing down at the shirt he currently wore, he frowned at the sight of blood stains. He'd be lucky to get this one clean after this. Without answering her, he moved to pull the laces loose enough to allow him to slip it over his head, moving very slowly against the soreness of his side. That was going to smart for a good while, he guessed. After the slow struggle, the redhead managed to get his shirt off and let it fall on the cot beside him, moving to sit slightly bent with some pain with each breath. He sure hoped that would go away soon.
Sanresk put his awkward head in his Handler's lap, Neek curling up next to the guardsman's good side in comfort. Several moments after Tesni's inquiry, Sanrev finally carefully straightened, keeping his eyes closed a moment before opening them again. "Yeah... Get it done," he told her, smelling the horrible smelling stuff. At least it usually did a good job at what it was meant for.

Tesni could see the pain written on his face as she walked over. Sometimes men were just too much. Willow tea would be much more effective in lessening the pain of an internal injury like this, but she knew better than to argue. Perhaps Sanrev thought she meant to drug him. Healers certainly weren't above that if the patient needed it, but that was the last thing the guardsman needed. She looked at the ugly bruises across his chest and stomach, shaking her head. "You really did a number on yourself didn't you? Or someone else did I suppose." That whole situation with G'rett had been a nasty business indeed.
"All right now, lean back a bit for me, and try to relax your muscles. It'll hurt less if you do." She took a scoop of numbweed in her fingers and worked it gently over the surface of the bruised skin, trying not to be distracted into admiring the man's muscled form. After a few moments, all the bruised skin was covered. It would help at least a little. She rinsed her hands off in the sink before the numbweed could get through the redwort and turned back to Sanrev, her expression concerned. "Feel any better? The numbweed works fairly quickly."

Only a smile graced Sanrev's face at Tesni's words. It had been more than a someone. More like several and whichever one had gotten him in the head had been the worst. It had been a long time since he had fallen unconscious like that. He slowly tried to follow her instructions, managing a rigid posture as the best he could do for her. Relaxing was a completely different story.
Even though he knew her touches to be light in applying the stuff, they hurt every time and he forced himself to remain still until she had finished. By the time her touches were nearly done, half of the bruised pain was easing, though his side hurt greatly still. Not much helped ribs if they were broken. Not much at all. Looking up at the dragonriding Healer, the guardsman nodded slowly. "Better 'an it was," he managed carefully.
After a few moments, he nudged Sanresk's head off of his lap and moved to attempt to stand up. His wher needed a bath and he was not going to let the patient thing wait too long for it.
