Trig whistled happily as Ravis helped unpack. The boy knew that they wouldn't be staying long. Actually, he had heard that another caravan had been here not long ago, but last time they had been here a few of the riders had ordered something special and now they were delivering.
Ravis set to work on unpacking, being careful of his hands. He didn't care what the others thought of him. So what if they made fun of him behind his back. He wouldn't dwell on that. The boy just concentrated on his job. He didn't want to think about anything else.

Gemith lay quietly as her rider finished up oiling her grassy hide, dainty forepaws crossed with her head held high and eyes whirling slowly in contentment. Her tail twitched now and again as she looked about the activity of the Weyr Bowl, her attention finally settling on the nearby Trader Caravan unloading their goods. She gazed at the bustling activity for a long while, unmoving except for the steady breathing that kept her heart beating. It was after nearly a quarter mark of this stillness that K'kaar finished his task and looked up at his unusually still and quiet dragon. "Gemith, Love?" he asked of his green as he put the lid on his oil jar and wrapped the brush in its usual cloth to keep it from getting gritty when not in use.
Gemith flinched in response to her rider's inquiry, freshly oiled grassy hide rippling with the movement but her gaze remained on the group of Traders. There is something over there. she answered after a long moment, only giving her rider an image of a vague area of a lad and and a few others unpacking, the lad at the center of her image.
K'kaar looked over at the Traders and studied the area his dragon told him of. Gemith had only recently shown Search qualities with the appearance of the new colors in dragon, firelizard, and wher clutches and K'kaar had gone to the Leadership after the last clutch of dragons had Hatched. "What's caught your fancy, Love?" he asked of his green again before she suddenly got up and moved toward the Caravan in her usual graceful manner, eyes fixed on the lad at the center of her vision. K'kaar grabbed up his supplies and hurried after his dragon.
Gemith stopped half a dragonlength from the lad that absorbed her attention and sat down carefully, her slowly whirling blue eyed gaze never leaving him, taking up the quiet stillness that she had shown just moments before.

Ravis didn't even notice Gemith moving closer to them. The boy was concentrating on what he was doing and trying to ignore the snickers that he was receiving from some of the other young traders. He had grown used to it, but sometimes it still hurt. The boy stopped long enough to scratch his injured hand that had started to itch.
Trig on the other had noticed the green and sat up straight, crooning a greeting. He liked his bigger cousins.
"Trig?" Ravis asked in confusion. He stood up and straight and tried to figure out what had stolen his little brown's attention. That's when he noticed the beautiful green not far from them. "Oh," he said in surprise. Why would a dragon be interested in what they were doing?

Gemith continued her silent gaze, waiting for her rider to get there, unmoving, but obviously well interested in the lad a short distance away. As soon as K'kaar had caught up to her, she got up and moved a few paces closer, stopping and carefully sitting again, her blue-eyed gaze still fixed on the lad.
"Gemith! What is it? Which one?" K'kaar asked, glancing at the group of folk nearby. There were several Traders at the right age from what he was gathering.
The grassy green did not move for another long moment before she again moved closer, this time, laying down, forepaws crossed in a dainty way and lowering her head to rest on them, her gaze remaining on the lad at the cart. This one, she stated simply to her rider, sapphire eyes whirling contentedly.
K'kaar sighed and looked at the lad in front of his dragon. "Hi, I'm K'kaar and this is Gemith," the rider said, stepping up to the cart and offering his hand to the lad in greeting. "Gemith thinks you have the potential to be a Rider. What do you say?" he asked, getting straight to the point.

Ravis stood still and watched Geminth. He had been around a few dragons before, but usually they weren't real interested in what the Traders were doing, so they didn't get that close. This green on the other hand was within touching distance. He couldn't help but wonder why she had gotten so close.
Trig cheeped a happy greeting to his larger cousin. He didn't care why the green was there. He was going to be friendly. He liked the dragons.
The boy looked up quickly when K'kaar spoke. "Umm, hello. I'm Ravis and this is Trig." The boy hesitated to shake the rider's hand, but finally did. He had gloves on, so really there was no reason to worry. Ravis' dark eyes widened. "Me? A rider?" he asked in shock.

Gemith crooned softly in response to the little brown Cousin's cheep, but otherwise, her attention remained on the lad, fully content to just watch him while Hers did the talking.
K'kaar paid no mind to the gloves on the lad's hands. Dragons knew what they were doing when they found their Candidates. If the gloves hid something, the greenrider dismissed the fact. He had complete faith and trust in his green in her choices. He smiled at Ravis' reaction to the news he gave him. "Glad to meet you, Ravis. And yes, Gemith is a Searchdragon. She says that you have the potential to be a Rider. It's completely up to you, though. I'm not forcing you at all," he said by way of explaining his dragon's choice.

Trig sat up straighter as Geminth acknowledged him. The brown couldn't have been happier. He didn't seem to notice his Pet's discomfort.
Ravis was glad that K'kaar didn't mention anything about his gloves. He didn't want to explain anything or get pity from anyone. He had gotten that enough through the Turns. The boy looked at Geminth, still not believing that she thought he would make a good rider. "I, um, yes," he said, a smile actually showing on his face. How could anyone say no to a dragon? And why would you want to?

Gemith crooned again, eyes whirling happily in blue hues as Ravis' answer. The green was glad that he had chosen to become a Candidate.
K'kaar smiled at the lad's answer. "That's wonderful! Do you wanna start right away or would you like a day to sort out your belongings?" he asked. The Caravan would probably be at the Weyr overnight at least and so there would be time for Ravis to gather his things and say his farewells. "You'll have to spend one sevenday in the infirmary so the Healers can make sure you don't have any sign of Cloudlung and then your training begins!" The greenrider figured he should at least mention that before Ravis answered on how long he needed to say his farewells.

Ravis smiled at Gemith. He wasn't sure if he would make a good candidate, but it was worth a try. Trig crooned happily.
The boy turned back to K'kaar. He shook his head. "No, I can come now," he said. He might live with the Traders now, but he really didn't have any friends. He nodded. That made sense. No one wanted to bring Cloudlung back around and get everyone else sick. That would be awful and Ravis would never forgive himself. "It shouldn't take me long to get my things."

K'kaar nodded with another smile. "We'll wait for you, then," he said cheerily. The Searchrider looked at his green and gave her an affectionate pat on the neck. Good job, Love, he thought to his lifemate. Gemith crooned again and continued to gaze at Ravis in contentedness. I know what I'm doing, she said lovingly and a bit smugly to her rider. The grassy green always knew what she was doing when it came to things like these. K'kaar never questioned her, only continued to love and care for her.

Ravis actually smiled and turned to jog back to his area of the caravan. He couldn't believe he had been Searched. He had never expected something like that. Trig cheeped happily as Ravis gathered all his belongings together. He soon had everything and hurried back to K'kaar and Gemith. "Alright, I've got everything," he said, hoisting the bag over his shoulder. It wasn't like he really had many possessions after all.

The greenrider smiled as Ravis returned. That did not seem to take very long at all. Gemith sat up when the lad returned, crooning a hello to him and the little brown Cousin that belonged to him. K'kaar dug in his pocket for a Search Token that he kept on hand due to Gemith's new interest in Searching. One never knew when they would stumble across a potential Candidate. "Right this way and I'll take you to Candidate Master Arktos to get you into the program, then I'll take you to the infirmary for the quarantine stuff. It's not bad if there's someone else there with ya'. I know from experience." He started leading Ravis toward the Candidate Barracks to see about finding Arktos or his Assistant while he talked.

Ravis smiled at Gemith. He could definitely get used to seeing the dragons all the time. Trig cheeped happily. He already seemed right at home at the Weyr. Ravis took the token and looked at it. He had never thought about having to have something to prove that he was a candidate. The boy nodded. "I'm used to being on my own, so I'm sure I'll be okay if no one is there," he assured K'kaar. Although it would be nice to meet someone new.

Gemith crooned softly and got up to follow her new Search as if escorting him to the Candidate's Barracks, grassy hide rippling with each content movement that she had found one. K'kaar grinned. "There's almost always one or two others in quarantine. You should be fine." After walking a short pace, he continued on again, "Is there anything else you wanna know before we get to the Barracks?"
((OOC: And do you wanna end at the Barracks or go through the process with Arktos?))

Ravis quietly followed behind. He looked around the Weyr as if it was his first time seeing it. Of course it was in a whole new light this time then the last time he had been here. Trig cheeped in excitement. Ravis glanced over at Gemith as she walked beside them. He quickly turned back to K'kaar. "Umm, I guess what is expected of me now?" he asked curiously.
{{We can stop at the barracks with them}}
