She'd been at the weyr for just under two months, and still was trying to adjust the huge differences between weyrlife and holdlife.. there were things that she was never sure she'd ever get used to..and yet, what she'd seen of weyrlife so far..Ranelli enjoyed.
She didn't;t miss the ornate expensive, show off dresses that she had had in the hold. It had taken her a while to get used to wearing the clothes that had kindly been given to her from the stores when she arrived in nothing but the torn clothes she had stolen from Tardol the day she had ran away from their wedding ceremony..
It was hard being in the weyr, hard trying to remember that here, she wasn't the lord holders daughter and that it wasn't correct for her to boss people around, it took a lot of self control to change how she had been brought up to act for so long, but she did it... not wanting to stand on peoples toes.. or to upset the kind people that had kept her here and not forced her back to her hold, and two any parents that surely await her.. or the shattered Tardol at Nova hold.. it hadn't been the best move, she'd ever made, running away like that..but at the time she had been desperate..
She'd kept herself to herself in the weyr, being pleasant at all times to those she worked with in the caverns currently, and anyone that might smile at her.. but never really doing much with people, she didn't;t quite know where she belonged at present.. who she was meant to be.. but what she did know, was that it was quite lonely in a place where she knew very few people.. at least back at her hold, where she didn't really have 'proper' friends, she had had her family.. here, she didn't really have anyone.. nor did she know how to approach them that well, her actions and words were always too formal, she felt..
With a sigh, she turned back to her breakfast, savoring the flavors of the wonderful food she had before her.. trying to guess what the ingredients included were..

V'zee got himself some breakfast and looked about the Dining Cavern for a place to sit that would allow Randael a place as well once she came in from her routine. Seeing the Weyr's unusual guest at a table, he decided he aught to make her feel welcome. If she had been here this long, then she was probably staying. So the wingleader took his small tray of food over to that table. "May I sit here, milady?" he asked pleasantly so as not to frighten her.

Randy yawned a bit as Ransk headed up to their weyr for some sleep. The handler on the other hand was hungry and was headed that way first. She picked up a mug of klah and got some food before looking around for her mate. She had felt more tired recently and a bit sick from time to time, but she wasn't too worried. She was sure it was just a bug or something. She finally spotted V'zee with the new arrival at the Weyr and headed that way. "Good morning," she said to both of them.

She'd been making circles with the spoon that he had in her morning meal. It wasn't that it didn't taste good, quiet the contrary the food that the weyr fed its inhabitants and guests was very good indead. It was that she was just thinking of home - her brothers, people that she missed even her mother and her controlling ways.
Ranelli was surprised to hear someone address her. Not many people have actively sought to take the same table as her, considering there were so many about. She looked up at the person before and quickly took in his appearance as was a force of habit, looking for signs of rank. "Certainly Wingleader" She replied, all too aware of what the knots he held heralded. Her answer was confident, her manner one to back that up, Ranelli was a confident person, a holders daughter born and bred.. She had nodded her head in greating, but friendly but polite, she didn't know this person too well, she didn't know his manners and he could be anyone..
She was further surprised when they were joined by the Wherhandler. (again, she looked for signs of rank as was habit) "Good Morning" Ranelli pleasently replied with a smile plastered on her face. Her manner was very formal, as was always her up bringing. She'd immediately stopped eating and put her spoon down to ensure that she was not rude and would give her 'table mates' her full attention.

V'zee smiled and took a seat, soon joined by his mate and giving her another smile. "Mornin', Love," he said in greeting to her before turning back to Ranelli. "Mornin', miss. And please, don't stop eatin' 'cause of us. This ain't no formal feast," he said cheerily as a light blue thing zoomed in for a hasty landing and ended with his little nose just inches from the bronzerider's tray. Yes, Vikki was hungry and his multi-faceted eyes were locked on one of his favorite breakfast items: pork rolls mixed with oatmeal.
V'zee chuckled. "I'm sorry for Vikki. He's a pest sometimes. I'm V'zee of Kyanath. Jus' call me V'zee. This's my mate, Randael of Ransk. Figured ya' looked lonely so I'd say hi over the mornin' meal." His dark, icy eyes danced in friendship as did the smile that graced his face for a morning. He was a very big morning person and it showed in his cheerful demeanor. "Settlin' in alright?" he asked before nudging his firelizard away from his tray a bit. The blue chirped and laid down, stretching his neck out to reach as far as he could toward the tray that had just been moved out of his reach.

Randy smiled at V'zee as she sat down beside me. "Just call me Randy. Everyone else does," she cheerily. Although she couldn't hide a yawn. "Sorry about that," she apologized. "I've been up all night." As soon as she ate she was planning on catching a little bit of sleep. She chuckled as she watched Vikki. The little blue was always good for a good laugh. She could tell that Ransk was already sound asleep in their weyr. The wher never stayed out in the daylight unless she truly had to. And today she didn't.

Ranelli smiled but kept quiet unless spoken to as was customary in her past. "It's nice to meet you, V'zee and Randy" She said with a warm smile, but most of her emotions hidden behind well trained facial features. She appeared a little distant with her actions, but that wasn't something that she had control on, but would probably change over time as she became accustumed to a relaxed life in the weyr where she wasn't being watched or made to act like she was on show at all times.
She watched the blue firelizards reactions carefully, half expecting the dragonrider to flick the creature away from the food tray with his wrist, as her father and brothers had often done with a temper when their creatures had misbehaved themselves, she was quiet surprised that it didn't happen.. it was taking a while to remember that everything was different in the weyr.
"I think i'm settling in well enough." Ranelli added a moment later, not sure what else to say.

The bronzerider smiled and after a bite of his food, handed the little blue his hopeful treat which Vikki immediately sat up and took with his forepaws, sniffing at it first, then chomping on it with a muffled croon of happiness. "That's good. Made any friends yet? Or are ya' still wand'rin' 'round hopin' for one?" the dark haired rider asked pleasantly, taking another bite afterward.

Randy smiled as she watched Vikki. The blue always managed to con a treat out of V'zee. The young wher handler sat back in her seat and tried to stay awake. She hated how tired she had felt recently. She just couldn't explain it. She smiled as she listened to V'zee and Ranelli. "What have you thought of the Weyr so far?" she asked, turning her attention to the teenager.

She answered Randy's question first as that was the easiest of the two, she wasn't quite sure what to say to V'zee's question about making friends or hoping for one? "The weyr has been very kind to take me in" She replied truthfully, for they had been. After everything that she had caused she'd been surprised that she had been able to stay. She'd half expected someone to have come and taken her home by now - she was surprised her mother hadn't demanded she return yet. "I'm still getting adjusted to the differences between hold life and weyr life.." She said with a small smile. "I guess the difference in life as well.." she added with a shrug. "Everyone's been very kind, but no, i've not really made friends with too many people yet.. " She hadn't even hunted out the other Crooked river holders that had been lucky enough to impress.. maybe it was embarassment..

V'zee nodded, giving his firelizard another treat. "You'll find some good friends," the bronzerider said cheerily. "I dunno how many Can'idates're from Crooked River, but I know there's a few riders that're from there afore Impression. Want some help diggin' 'em up?" he asked, giving Ranelli a charming smile before taking another bite of his breakfast.

Randy nodded in agreement. "Everyone here is really nice," she smiled. She remembered her first couple of days at the Weyr. It had been scary, but she wouldn't trade it for the world. "I don't know too many of the candidates. I'm not up and about too much during the day," she admitted, yawning a bit. She wasn't trying to be rude. It had just been a long night.

Ranelli smiled as Randy. "Long night?" She asked, remembering from her lessons as a hold brat that Wher's were nocturnal.. that must cause problems with their handlers. It felt strange to talk to someone that wasn't a close friend in such a non-formal manner.
"..and no, i've not sought anyone out from Crooked River Hold.. i thought they may find me, if they wanted to talk, considering who my parents are, they'd know me" She replied, most people knew she was the lord holders daughter.

V'zee smiled and looked at his mate. Long nights were common with her. Ransk was still young and full of energy yet. His dark gaze drifted back to the Holder's daughter and he gave her a charming smile. "Would ya' recognize any of 'em if ya' saw 'em? My next rest day, I could take ya' 'round an' innerduce ya' to a friend of mine in the Can'idacy," he said by way of offering. Of course the friend he spoke of was from his home Hold of South Sands, but she loved meeting new folk. Vikki scored another bite from his Pet's plate while the bronzerider was taking a bite himself and he just smiled at the firelizard.

Randy smiled sheepishly. "It was. I apologize for seeming so rude." The wher handler wasn't usually that tired. Although she didn't think much of it. Maybe she just hadn't gotten enough sleep lately. No reason to worry about being a bit tired. She listened quietly as V'zee offered to introduce Ranelli around. "Maybe I can even come along if you two don't mind. I promise I won't be as tired then," she smiled. She hoped with time that Ransk would grow out of being up all night long. Although right now Randy would just make do.
