Micala jogged across the Weyr Bowl with no destination in mind. She had free time and no one had a message needing delivered and so she was filling her time with jogging in the rainy evening before sunset and ultimately confinement to the Barracks for the night. She was not going to disobey authority. Since her quarantine had been lifted, V'zee had already congratulated her for being Searched and she spent a couple evenings after the evening meal, talking to the bronzerider about her curiosities about the Weyr. He was such a nice man and had been promoted to Wingleader not so very long ago from what she understood.
Mikay chattered along with images and whistles as she raced her Pet through the light rain until a dragon caught her eye. She whistled, giving the image of a gray dragon, calling it 'Big Mikay' by her images, before the dappled firelizard darted off toward her new fancy cheerily. Nearing the gray dragon, she circled merrily, giving the gray an account of what she was doing and asking the same of her. Big Mikay pretty! Little Mikay racing Mikay's. Mikay's winning. What Big Mikay doing? the gray asked merrily of the young dragon.

Ralith had been curled up enjoying the light rain on her hide. Her rider was inside, apparently trying to figure something out. The gray wasn't really interested in it. She looked up when Mikay started to flutter around her head. She hadn't seen too many of the firelizards in her short time. I was enjoying the rain, the young dragon said. Racing sounds fun though.
Ralith? Who are you talking to? Kikaya asked, catching some of what her dragon was saying.
A little. Come see, the gray said merrily. She looks like me.
Kikaya was confused by her dragon's words and stepped out beside the gray. She smiled when she saw the little gray fluttering around Ralith's head. The flit truly did look like a smaller Ralith. She wondered who she belonged to.

Micala followed her firelizard's new direction to keep the young gray out of unnecessary trouble. The Runner pulled up short when she saw the dragon's rider and studied her a long moment. There was something very familiar about the rider. Try as she might, she could not place a finger on it, so she walked quickly up to them, giving them a small berth of personal space before speaking. "Hi, I'm sorry if Mikay is botherin' ya'."
Mikay trilled when her Pet came over and whistled softly, circling her Pet before returning to her merry circles about the dragon.

Ralith seemed to laugh as she watched Mikay. The gray turned her head when Micala walked up to them. Kikaya stayed close to her gray. "She wasn't," she whispered. The teen's eyes suddenly widened when she actually took a second to study the older teen in front of her. "Micala?" she whispered, not sure that she could believe her eyes. Surely not. She must be imaging things. Right? But she looked like Micala.

It was the soft voice that stole Micala's attention for another long moment as she studied the rider. It could not possibly be, could it? Well, it had to be. She had had contact with them since their rescue. "Kikaya? Is it really?" she managed to get a few words out, the rain obsolete in her mind at the moment, even the fact that a dragon stood so close and that Mikay was being a bother to someone. She had to think what three or four turns would do in aging her sister and it was slowly forming that this was her.

Tears suddenly sprang to Kikaya's eyes. She never thought she would see her family again. The girl forgot her fear and everything that had happened and dashed into her sister's arms. "Micala!" she cried, not letting go of her sister. It had been Turns since she had seen Micala. The girl looked up at her sister, her hazel eyes shining from her tears.
Ralith looked over at her young rider. She wasn't quite sure what was going on, but her rider seemed happy and that was a good thing.

Micala welcomed the hug and gave her sister a hug in return, tears forming in her own eyes at the great emotion that she was feeling. "It's been way too long," she said when her sister pulled back enough to look up at her. "Ya've grown," she said, a smile on her face. Her sister looked better than she had guessed she would. "Wait 'til ma and pa see ya'. Is M'cal around, too?" This was almost too good to be true, but her sister was here. She was real. Micala's worries from the past few turns had been settled just by seeing her younger sister.

Kikaya stayed in Micala's arms. She wasn't ready to release her hold on her sister. She had given up dreaming that she would ever see her family again and now she afraid this was a dream. The young gray rider smiled. "Almost 4 Turns will do that," she whispered. She couldn't believe how long she had been separated from her family. M'cal had been the one to keep her going. The teenager smiled. "I would love to see ma and pa," she whispered. Kikaya nodded, not even noticing the tears on her cheeks. "Him and Lukath are never far from Ralith and me," she said quietly. She very seldom let her brother out of her sight.

Micala smiled and gave her sister another hug. "I never gave up hopin' you were both okay. This is your dragon?" she asked, motioning toward the gray nearby with a hand. She looked around for another dragon nearby and only saw an icy blue colored dragon a distance off, but no rider with him. Surely if Kikaya said that M'cal never left her sight, then he would be around within sight. Then again, it was awful rainy out in the Bowl. Maybe he was watching from his weyr or something.

Kikaya smiled slightly. It had taken her a while to start smiling again. "I dreamed of you guys, but I was afraid to hope." She hadn't wanted those dreams shattered. She didn't have anything else. She nodded with a bright smile. "This is Ralith. Ralith, meet my sister Micala."
The little gray bowed her head and crooned a greeting. She liked seeing her young rider happy again.
The teenager glanced around them. She grinned when she saw the blue. "And that's Lukath over there," she said, pointing the blue. Love, could you have Lukath send M'cal over?
Lukath, Ralith said. Kikaya would like M'cal to come over. The gray always remembered her chosen and her chosen's brother's name.

Micala grinned and gave the dragon a small bow in return. "Wonderful to meet ya', Ralith. I hope yer takin' good care of my sister." She had no doubt the gray was taking care of Kikaya. From what she had heard and understood, a dragon's love was unconditional for their rider so they would protect their rider to their death. She just hoped that never happened to any rider ever. The Runner looked toward the icy blue dragon and smiled. He sure was an odd shade for a dragon. That color did not come very often.
The blue's head moved to stare at the two girls and the dragon when Ralith bespoke him. After a long moment, Lukath heaved a sigh and shook his wings a bit to free some rainwater from them before bespeaking his life-mate. M'cal-Mine, Ralith's Kikaya would like you to join her. he told his rider calmly.
M'cal looked up from his attempts at a letter home. He had already sent several and it was so nice to talk to family again. Peering out into the rain-soaked Weyr, he spotted his dragon and then his sister's and paused to study the other person for a moment and a gray firelizard. His older sister had a gray firelizard that had been sending messages to him since his first contact with home. I'll be right there. he answered his dragon, hurriedly putting his things away so that they would not get lost on him.
Lukath moved slightly again, then settled and replied to the younger gray. Mine comes. he answered, waiting for his rider before he moved any nearer to them, confused by the thoughts that His was sorting through.

The gray bowed her head in response. Kikaya smiled, showing her old self a bit. She was still working on coming out of her shell again. And smiling was one of the first steps. She hugged her gray. "Ralith has taken care of me since she hatched and of course Lukath and M'cal," she assured her sister.
Ralith bobbed her head. The gray crooned softly. Of course I will take care of her, she told both Micala and Kikaya. She loved her rider and wanted her to be happy. She looked toward Lukath. M'cal comes, she told Kikaya.
Kikaya turned back to her sister. "Ralith said M'cal is on his way," she said cheerily.

Micala grinned again as her sister told her that her brother was on his way. This was the perfect day for her. After all these turns of hoping that they still lived, they did, and now she could see them both again. Mikay trilled merrily and circled the gray with little dips and loops, happy that her Pet was so happy as well!
M'cal stepped into the rain and up to his pale blue dragon before the small blue moved toward the two girls and the gray, his gaze more fixed on the firelizard to try to identify it. As the pair got closer, M'cal's look of confusion turned into realization as he recognized the firelizard. Was this his older sister? That was Mikay, he was as certain as Lukath hatched shell that she was. Finally within feet of the other two, he was most certain that the girl with Candidate knots was his sister that he had been conversing with via letter. "Micala?" he questioned, though deep within he was certain.
Micala grinned at the young man that walked up to them. She had a good memory and memory said that this was indeed her younger brother. "M'cal!" she said cheerily before stepping up and giving him a hug.
Lukath bristled, but was confused as his rider hugged the Candidate with happy emotions. No sign of worry or caution or fear with this stranger...

Kikaya was smiling from ear to ear. She just couldn't help it. She had never thought she would see her family again, yet here Micala was. She couldn't have been happier. And to think that her sister was a candidate. She hoped Micala Impressed.
She looked over when she heard M'cal. She grinned at her brother, but stepped out of the way so he could see Micala. She couldn't recall the last time she had seen M'cal smile either. Kikaya moved back by Ralith and just stood quietly. She didn't want to interrupt.

M’cal stepped back from his sister once he had decided that the hug was enough. Lukath was the reason. The little protective blue took a while to warm up to anyone it seemed. “All this time an’ ya’ ain’t changed much,” he said, the smile still gracing his features. Looking at Kikaya, he again smiled and nodded for no apparent reason. “We need to catch up. Ya’ two got anywhere to be any time quick?” he asked, gold hued eyes glancing between the two girls, noting the similarity there that defined them as related. He had not seen that sight in far too long.
Lukath studied the newcomer closely with a wary look to his eyes, head low much like a runner would do when facing a handler that it hated. He did not know her and His had not explained her just yet. The icy blue just did not know what to think of Micala. His rider was very friendly toward this one that he had never seen before. It did not make one tidbit of sense!
Micala grinned. “I have free time ‘til dark. We can go to the Dinin’ Cavern for a bit. Is that okay?” she said happily, glancing between her brother and sister as she inquired. This was completely wonderful! Her brother and her sister. In person. Alive! What more could she possibly ask for? Oh, yes. A dragon to call her own and to share her mind with. That would complete her happiness, she was certain of it.
Mikay trilled merrily as she landed on her Pet’s shoulder a moment and fluttered the rain from her dappled hide. Crooning contentedly, she startled rattling away at Lukath, his look at her Pet hardly intimidating to her little gray self. She had met him a few times before and she was not one to forget so easily as her larger Cousins. Mikay’s happy. Lukath’s and Ralith’s Mikay’s family. Happy! She even slipped in an image of their parents for confirmation of the likeness of the bonds between the three.
