Kikikaa shook her head with another smile. "No. If your preference is for guys, then Ralith will never steer you wrong. The two of you seem close like all of you from the South." They were probably such close bonds because under K'ain's rule, the only softness they felt was from the love of their dragons. At least that was Kikikaa's reasoning from her observations.
The Assistant WeyrlingMaster nodded at Kikaya's answer, glad that her memory was serving her well here. "M'cal is a good lad. A little bit of a temper with him, but he's a very good lad for being such a good brother to you." Perhaps he would be the best to speak with first. After all, he would know his sister best. That was how it was with herself and her siblings. "Do you wanna talk to M'cal and R'il together or by yourself? Or I can talk to them for you?" she offered.

Kikaya managed a small smile. "Next to M'cal Ralith is my best friend." She had relied on her gray a lot and her brother. They were all she had except for memories of her family, but after a couple of Turns those memories started to fade. She wasn't even sure if she would still remember them.
The girl nodded. "He was always there for me. His temper got him in trouble a few times." Just like her temper had her. Of course, she had a feeling that might have been why K'ain never tried anything with her. She wouldn't have been cooperative at all. "I've talked to M'cal a little bit," she said quietly. She shook her head. "I'm afraid to talk to R'il," she admitted. She wasn't so sure the green rider would be thrilled to hear her problems.

Kikikaa sat back a moment in thought. Her brother already knew of the situation. At least someone did. Maybe R'il was more of a friend to M'cal than to Kikaya, because she had said that she was afraid to talk to him about Ralith's expected maiden flight.
Trouble decided that his stickiness was needed on the desk again and swooped down to a landing, claws scrabbling on the edge for traction to come to a complete stop quicker. He squawked at Treasure, then at his Pet and was immediately reprimanded by Treasure with a hiss in his direction. After the hiss, the little green turned her attention back to the girl who was petting her.
"Do you want me to call M'cal here? I have another mark or two before the next Lesson. We can see if he has some ideas for us," Kikikaa asked pleasantly and calmly.

Kikaya continued to absently pet Treasure. The girl didn't even seem to notice Trouble's presence. She was too caught up in her own problems. Things just seemed so confusing. She loved her dragon to pieces, but she had never thought about what having a female dragon would entail. She still wasn't real comfortable with the thought.
The girl slowly looked up at Kikikaa. Kikaya nodded a little. "Okay," she whispered. She didn't know if M'cal would have thought of anything, but it couldn't hurt. She had to figure something out or it was going to drive her crazy. Then she was worried that she would effect Ralith.

Kikikaa smiled and her eyes unfocused briefly as she sought out her big green's mind. Peronith, Love, could you ask Lukath if his rider can come to my office? His sister is with me. She figured that M'cal should know just why he was being summoned to the Assistant WeyrlingMaster's office just in case he jumped to conclusions on her.
Peronith obliged by seeking out the young blue calmly. Lukath, Mine wishes for Yours to see Mine in her office. Mine is with Ralith's.
Lukath snorted at the summons, lifting his head from his forepaws as his rider gave him a soothing scrubbing. After realizing that it was the big green that was currently helping to teach them more, he settled and told M'cal of the green's words. Peronith's wants you to meet Hers in her office. Ralith's is with her, the icy blue told his rider before answering the green shortly, I've told Mine.
M'cal sighed and dropped his scrub brush in his bucket. Just what was up with his sister, he wondered as he headed for the office, his blue moving to rinse off in the water.
Kikikaa smiled when she heard back from her dragon and looked at Kikaya again. "Is there anything else while we wait for your brother to get here?" she asked pleasantly.

Kikaya didn't say anything for a bit. She could see that Kikikaa was talking with her dragon. She had grown to know that look. The girl just quietly played with Treasure. She knew she could talk to Ralith, but she didn't want to worry the gray at the moment.
She looked up when Kikikaa spoke to her again. She hoped that M'cal wouldn't be upset or anything. Kikaya shook her head. "I think you've answered everything," she whispered. Somehow she would have to get over her fear and find someone to 'experiment' with. That thought didn't sound real appealing though.

Treasure crooned and rolled to her back for Kikaya to scratch her belly for her. This attention was nice and it was helping!
Kikikaa smiled. "Treasure's helpful with anyone when things are rough on them," she said, watching her little green roll over. She reached over to Trouble to give him some attention so that he would not feel left out of the group.
It was not long before a knock came at the door and M'cal's voice followed the sound. "It's M'cal. Ya' wanted ta see me?"
"Yes, come in, please," Kikikaa replied and watched as the door opened, Treasure only bothering to tilt her head to see who it was before looking back at the young grayrider. "Have a seat, please," Kikikaa said, motioning toward a chair next to Kikaya.
M'cal looked at the Assistant WeyrlingMaster, then at his sister as he headed for the seat. "Ev'rythin' okay, Kika?" he asked in concern for his sister.

Kikaya chuckled softly as Treasure rolled over. She obliged the green and started to scratch her stomach. "She has helped," she said quietly. Treasure was at least helping her stay calm.
The gray rider looked over at the knock. She looked back down as M'cal walked in. She wasn't sure what she was going to tell her brother. She had thought things would get easier after talking to Kikikaa, but they hadn't. They had just gotten more complicated.
Kikaya finally looked up at her brother. "Kind of," she whispered. "We were just talking about Ralith's flight," she said.

Treasure trilled a greeting to the bluerider as he sat down, then her contented gaze drifted back to the grayrider.
"Oh," M'cal said as he sat down. "An' what've ya'll figured?" he asked, hazel eyes seeking Kikikaa's in question.
Kikikaa smiled, glad that Kikaya had spoken the reason for the summons before she had to. "I know you two are Holdbred. I am, too, so I know how Kikaya feels about Ralith's first flight. I've explained that she would not be forced to remain in contact with the winner's rider afterward and that there is a tiny possibility that she could end up with another woman, but if her bond with Ralith is as strong as I've seen in all of you young riders from the southern Weyr, then I have no doubt that Ralith won't choose a dragon with a female rider. Now, the reason for asking you here is because we need to find someone that Kikaya can get close with before Ralith Rises, so that we can sort of sway the choice. There are several green and blueriders around here that would willingly help her experiment, my own brother being one of them, but the choice is hers alone. Do you have any ideas of any riders that might be good for your sister?"
M'cal listened quietly, glancing at his younger sister at certain points in Kikikaa's explanation, finding a slightly better understanding of this flight concept himself. After he had been asked if he knew anyone, he sat back a moment to think. Though he had been there two months already, he still had not met a whole lot of folk outside of the riders he learned with. "Well, most of the ones I know're greenriders. There's a few blueriders an' a brownrider or two 'at I think might be okay for Kika," he finally said, glancing at his sister again with a smile.

Kikaya looked down at her hands. She really hadn't gotten a chance to get to know many others yet. And she still felt a bit strange talking about her worries. Although it did help that Kikikaa seemed to understand. The green rider had been born in a Hold after all too. She tried not to shutter as Kikikaa mentioned the idea of being with another female again. That thought didn't at all sit well with her. Not one bit at all.
She glanced up as Kikikaa and M'cal talked. She wondered what her brother thought of all this. The girl clenched her fists and tried not to fidget in her seat. She wondered who M'cal was thinking of. Kikaya couldn't really think of anyone. At least not off the top of her head. She gave her brother a shaky smile. He was sure taking this all better then she was.

M'cal looked at his sister. She had the most say in this, but it was obviously a hard subject for her. He would help however he could. "There's a few in my wing that are real nice and I've seen a few at meal times that look really friendly. How do you suggest we do this?" he said in explanation of whom he knew of. Of course it was ultimately his sister's choice in the matter.
Kikikaa pulled out a piece of scrap hide and found a quill that was not currently sticky from Trouble's mischievousness. "Can you name them for me? We'll get a list together and see what we can do for ya', Kikaya. Is that okay?" she said, glancing first at M'cal, then at Kikaya for her confirmation. She was bound to know a fair few of them since Peronith seemed to pick blues over anything else.

Kikaya looked back down at her hands. She had never thought this would be so hard. And she couldn't think of anyone in her wing that she thought would be good. She glanced up at her brother through her lashes. She nodded slightly. She trusted M'cal to know what she would like.
Her face flushed slightly. Was it really that simple? Just write down names and go from there? "Alright," she whispered. She sure Kikikaa had been through this before and wouldn't do something that would upset her either.

After getting Kikaya’s response, Kikikaa compiled a list of dragons and their riders, a few with Peronith’s help, plus a few that she knew of that were younger and closer to the girl in age. Ages did not really matter at the Weyr, but it was easier to start out with closer ages to help with the awkwardness of a maiden flight. After getting the list together, the Assistant WeyrlingMaster circled the more likely candidates for random flings outside of flights and turned the list so that the siblings could see it, closer to Kikaya than M’cal because she needed to see it the most. “I think these ones would be best for you to meet and see which ones attract you a little bit. It can be their attitude or even their looks. Whatever you think. You don’t have to settle on any one of these, but if we find someone that’s willing to help ya’, all the better. Now these ones are greenriders that would probably be more than willing to experiment with you, too. This one’s my brother and even though he’s older than you, he’s a wonderful guy and holds no grudges if something goes funny. These two greenriders are a lot like my brother and wouldn’t be too bad for you to meet either. What do ya’ say? I can help you meet these guys in the next day or two.” The greenrider smiled calmly, hoping to ease the poor young rider’s fears with all of this. “And if Ralith doesn’t Rise before the next clutching and Hatching, I’m sure that there will be a Candidate Lesson that talks about this same thing that you could sit in on,” she added as an afterthought.
M’cal looked over the list, recognizing a few names that were circled and nodding. “I know a few of ‘em, too,” he said before glancing at his sister for her response to the matter at hand.

Kikaya did her best not to fidget. This was so nerve racking. She had never thought she would feel so nervous or scared at the same time. The gray rider leaned forward and looked at the list. She recognized a couple names, but couldn't place faces with a lot of them. She hadn't been real social since coming to the Weyr and she knew that wasn't going to help her problem now. Kikaya looked up at Kikikaa. She had never really thought about being with someone older. Actually, she hadn't thought about it at all yet. The girl nodded. "I would like that," she whispered. It appeared that M'cal knew them too and she trusted her brother with her life. If he said they were okay then so be it. Not to mention if Kikikaa's brother was anything like her that would be great. Kikaya's eyes widened. "Really? I could sit in on one of the lessons?"

Kikikaa smiled once Kikaya spoke her mind about it and the fact that her brother had already interacted with a few of them was an even bigger help. “Yes, you could sit in on a Lesson. I’d just have to okay it with G’fal and Arktos that you’ll be there, but there’s no reason to worry. At least here, you have plenty of folk that are willing to help you transition to the real way a Weyr is run. Now are there any further questions? I’ve got a class coming up soon with our youngest bunch, but afterwards I can help you find and meet the riders on this list so you can at least put names to faces,” she said, confirming Kikaya’s inquiry.
M’cal smiled. Things were coming together for his sister and he liked knowing that factor. Finally, their lives would have more purpose than being. They could live with the only fear as that of Thread returning to the skies, something dreadful that he had heard the older riders speak of from their icy home. “Sittin’ in on a Lesson or two sounds good to me,” he said, thinking of all the things that he had yet to learn properly.
