She'd lost count of the days that she had been on the run now, had it been 8? or maybe it was 12? Ranelli didn't really know, she didn't know where she was either... had she left Nova Hold Territory? Was she heading in the direction of the weyr? or home? or was she about to walk in on a whole new hold?
..She'd started to regret her decision to run away.. to walk out on the handfasting that had been set up for her and Tardol. Not because she wanted to go through with it.. but because, inside, she felt that she could never go back now, not to any hold.. or any place, so many people must hate her for the trouble she had caused. She should have just left a note... how selfish had she been?
As if punishing her, Pern had thrown all types of weather at her..she'd been through rain, sun, heat, cold..and she'd survived, although.. how much longer this could go on for, she wasn't sure. Food was hard to come by..she'd managed to eat, small things.. but she doubted she'd last much longer.. the growing hunger in her belly and the added fatigue was causing problems, at least she'd been able to find water to drink..
The clothes she'd stolen from Tardol's collection had been big on her, had over drapped her..and now just looked like torn and baggy messes, the bottoms had a large hole and dried blood stain from the gash she'd gotten on the first day, she'd done everything she could to keep it clean.. but it was a loosing battle.
It really wasn't a surprise that she'd started to fell unwell, although whether it was due to infection, a chill, the situation or all three.. she didnt know, she didn't have the energy to move on anymore that day, she hadn't travelled far but even those few steps left her body shaking and her skin sweaty, maybe there would be a hold soon...with a healer? She'd worry about begging for forgiveness once she got back under cover..
....Ranelli hadn't even considered threadfall...

Katleya grinned as Azariaith glided over Nova Hold. The young pair had a bit of free time and Katleya thought it would be nice to visit one of the Holds. Besides, maybe Azariaith would find a likely candidate. He wasn't a Search dragon, but he was a blue and he had been known to pick a preference from time to time.
The blue snorted. There's something down there, he said.
Katleya couldn't see anything. Let's go see, Az.
The blue folded his wings and carefully landed. Katleya slid off and looked around, wondering what had caught her dragon's eye. Then she saw. She gasped and ran over to the young girl.
"Miss?" she asked, hitting her knees beside Ranelli. The girl was so dirty and bloody that Katleya didn't even recognize who she was.
Azariaith looked over her shoulder worriedly. The girl didn't look good.

Ranelli was not one of the lucky ones that was born able to hear every dragon and so the first she realised that something large was around was the growing of the shade under the tree around her as the blue dragon acted as a barrier to the suns rays, maybe if she had been able to hear all dragons she would have ran and hidden before the blue had come into her sight, but she didn't. €she doubted there would be any point now, the dragonrider pair must have seen her.. she doubted that the dragon would have been that blind not to have noticed her. Two emotions passed through the girl as she sat under the shade of the large old tree, sheltering from the daylight that didn't help the fruzzy, sore head that she hosted. One emotion was relief, someone had found her! Someone would help her.. and the second was fear.. they'd surely know who she was and all choas would break loose..
She looked at the rider for a second, trying to decide whether the 'miss' thing was because the rider was bing polite, or genuinely didn't recongise her.. Ranelli didn't say a thing, but acknowledged the rider, she was brought up too well to be rude.

Katleya breathed a sigh of relief when Ranelli at least responded. The blue rider got up and teetered on her heels. Azariaith snorted softly as he watched the young girl. She seems hurt, the blue said, actually being helpful for once. And scared.
She nodded in agreement to her blue's observation. "I'm Katleya and this is Azariaith," she said with a smile for the girl. She thought Ranelli looked familiar, but she couldn't decide why. "Do you need help?" she offered, not wanting to scare the girl.

Ah...well here was a dilema! Did she accept the help that she'd be stupid to refuse, or did she make up some story about how she was fine and make them and didn't need their help.. "Yes please" she didn't really pause to think about it, this wasn't worth dieing over.. not at all. "if it's not too much hassel for you, ma'am" She replied politely.

Katleya shook her head, smiling. "No trouble at all," she assured the girl. She still wondered how such a young thing had gotten out into the middle of nowhere. And she looked thin and beat up as well. "Why don't we go back to the Weyr?" the blue rider suggested. "We can get you cleaned up there and get a good meal." She figured the girl was probably hungry.

Her stomach answered loudly at the mention of food! A proper meal! That was just what she needed, food.. food that was warm, well made and not just something that she'd managed to scrounge. Shem unfortunately, wasn't really all that clued up to survival outside the hold.. besides the basics, she wasn't really sure what was edible, and what was not..neither was she very good at fishing!
The weyr sounded like the best place to go..she doubted that Tardol would look for her there.. she didn't want to see him again, not because of him possibly hurting her, for the young holders son was not like this.. more out of embarassment and shame at what she'd done to him...
"are you sure?" She asked, a little taken back by the suggestion, what would the weyrwoman think when she arrived? Everyone on pern must how the disgrace she brought Tardol by now..

Katleya smiled slightly and got up to grab her satchel that was attached to her riding straps. "Here, it's not much, but it should help until we get to the Weyr," she said, handing Ranelli a meatroll. The blue rider knelt back in front of her. She wondered what had happened to the girl, but didn't want to ask her just yet. "Of course I'm sure."
I like her, Azariaith said, lowering his head to study Ranelli.
"There and Az says he likes you, so there's no problem," she grinned.

"Say thank you to your handsome blue for me" Ranelli added, her voice clear and words well spoken. She held the meatroll that Katleya gave her and appriciated it more than she had ever appriciated a meatroll before. "Thank you so much, you are so kind to me" She replied with a smile.

She is very welcome. Azariaith said, watching the girl.
Katleya smiled. "Az says you're welcome." The young blue rider was surprise to hear the girl was so well spoken. She couldn't help wondering where Ranelli had come from. Actually, she didn't even know the girl's name, but she wasn't going to pry. It seemed like the girl had been through a lot.
The blue rider returned to her blue to get her jacket while she left Ranelli to eat her meatroll. She had never seen someone so happy to have a simple meatroll. She soon returned and knelt in front of Ranelli. "Here, take this," she said, holding the jacket toward the girl.

"Will you not need the jacket?" Ranelli asked, when Katleya offered her the jacket, "I would hate for you to get sick because of me, especially in the cold of between" Ranelli responded, with a little shiver as she remembered how cold the nothingness of between was. She forgot that general people didn't really deal with the col of between, but then, she didn't really notice that she was giving herself away, Ranelli wasn't really good at this whole hiding thing.
"I'm very sorry, I don't know your name..I'm Ranelli" She replied, thinking she might as well let her know what she dealing with, she'd find out soon enough..and Ranelli wasn't really trying to 'hide' as such.. she'd ran away and now found herself stuck in a situation she hadn't anticipated. She wasn't a child, she'd be very grown up about this situation.

Katleya shook her head. "I'll be okay. I'm at least in long sleeves. You would freeze in the short time we were between." She watched the girl curiously. She seemed to know a lot, but then again, people did know about between. That was no secret.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm Katleya. Kat for short and this big lug is Azariaith. It is a pleasure to meet you, Ranelli." She wondered if this was the same girl that everyone was looking for, but she didn't want to frighten Ranelli off. She'd ask questions later. Right now she figured getting back to the Weyr would be good. "Are you ready to go to the Weyr?" she asked.

Ranelli smiled as Katleya mentioned how cold between was, yes, she remembered that well.. she wasn't a frequent traveller adragonback, but the very few occasions where she had been, she remembered between... between was not something one could forget easily, it was a scary experience, not one she thought she could get used to in a hurry either.
"I don't want to inconvience you and your wonderful dragon any further, bluerider. I will leave whenever you wish to" She added with a nod of her head, which was quickly followed by a chesty couching fit.

Katleya saw that it appeared that Ranelli knew exactly what she was talking about with between. Maybe this was the missing Hold girl. She'd find out when they got back to the Weyr. Right now, the girl looked like she could use a good bath and some food. Not to mention a Healer.
The girl shook her head. "No inconvenience at all," she assured Ranelli. Katleya cringed when she heard the girl's coughs. "I think we better fly straight though. That cough doesn't sound good." Definitely a Healer when they got back.

Ranelli couldn't say that she was upset about missing the experience of between, and she knew better than to argue with a rider, espeically when it came to flying. Ranelli was certain that Katleya would know best on that. "Thank you, if you;re sure that you would like to fly straight then that is fine with me, i'll enjoying looking at the scenery passing us by." She said with a smile.
