K'von waved at F'har as he approached. "How's Irisith? I heard that Sylvanuth was just doing a taste test on her tail," he said with a chuckle.
"Yeah, sorry about that," M'thos said sheepishly. "I don't know what gets into him some days."
You'd better apologize to Irisith. he said to the blue. If you treat her badly she won't want to play with you. Sylvanith seemed to be shocked by this, so he sidled over to his sister quickly.
Um...Irisith....I'm sorry...about your tail.
Meanwhile, K'von and M'thos walked into the weyrling bowl. It appeared that the Healer in question had not yet arrived.
Quindara still was not used to the treatment that some of the other weyrlings gave her. She didn't feel she merited it quite yet, as Artemth was so young, so she simply ducked her head in greeting, trying not to blush. But Artemth did not share her sentiments, it appeared. Thank you, Amonth. You and yours are looking handsome this morning as well. she replied archly before turning towards the weyrling master.
Eventually, the WeyrHealer appeared and the lesson began. Quindara knew all of this already of course, though Artemth seemed interested and kept making comments to her rider.
K'von and M'thos both felt like their brains were about to melt with information overload.

J'sen listened attentively as the WeyrHealer went through her lecture on the various symptoms they would face as Riders. Threadscore, dragon wings tearing, cloudlung...then his future werymate, Calyssa, asked a question if firelizards were to receive the same treatment for similar injuries. He couldn't help but spare a glance at Misty, but the queen firelizard seemed to be more interested in Storm at the moment. Apparently, she trusted her pet would take good care of her if she ever was hurt or got sick...he'd taken care of her for the past few turns, hadn't he?
J'sen then looked at Quindara, knowing the Queen Weyrling had chosen to specialize in dragonhealing. It was obvious to the sailor that she was already familiar with most of this information, so this should be nothing new to her. Oddly enough, however, nothing was mentioned about the possibility of having to deal with a crash landing over water. Or how to attempt to revive a drowning victim. When the WeyrHealer asked for questions, J'sen waited until the others were silent before he raised his own hand. "I know this may sound crazy, but with the lake here and Coral Cove not far off, shouldn't we be going over procedures on how to react in case a Rider and dragon crash into the water? Or how to revive a drowning victim?"

F'har grinned at his brother and their younger harper companion. "Oh she's acting like a big baby over it. I wish she would just get over it," he huffed. The normally cheerful green snorted at him and turned her head away as the Weyrhealer arrived. When the blue came over to her, she at first wanted nothing to do with him, turning her nose the other way. But then she sighed heavily and gave him a brief nuzzle. It's okay, I guess. Just don't do it again. It really hurts, Sylvanuth! You have very sharp teeth![/color]

Tess smiled encouragingly at Calyssa’s question and nodded. “For the most part, yes – but with firelizards you must be extremely cautious regarding dosage. Also, though any injury should be handled with care, treatment for creatures so small should be administered with particular delicacy.”
She arched an eyebrow a bit at J’sen’s question, though – curious thing to ask… but she supposed, with weyrlings, flight might be a little hasty at first and crash-water landings were safest. Hm. “I’m afraid the procedures used for humans would not transfer well to dragons – one-on-one resuscitation would be difficult for something of that particular size. Your first goal would be to get the individual out of the water and keep them as still as possible to avoid further injury – breathing is next goal. However, I am told dragons are capable of holding their breath for many minutes. I would therefore suggest encouraging them to hold their breath whilst underwater and, if that is impossible, to remain calm. Once out of the water, you will want to try and contract the lungs – this often happens naturally, but if it does not, it can be aided along by applying pressure at the chest, directly below the lungs.”
“Good questions, both of you,” she smiled to each of them, then swept her gaze across the rest of the weyrlings.

Calyssa listened quietly. Storm cheeped softly. Well, that was good to know. She hoped she would never need to use it, but she wanted to make sure that Storm got the best treatment if he ever needed it. She listened quietly also to the answer to J'sen's question. She cringed a little. Crashing in water didn't sound good.
S'tex was writing notes furiously. He didn't want to miss anything. Of course Belenoth wasn't making that easy as he stocked the others. He soon pounced on Amoth's tail, getting bored. He had learned early not to pick on Freyath.
